After the warning kiss, Selene was still not deterred from getting close to Ronald and befriending him. She reasoned that she needed a friend, because the other prisoners didn't seem to want to be friends with her and just kept cursing at her.
"It's better than me beating them up one by one, isn't it?" she asked.
Finally, Caelum seemed to have nothing else to say and he allowed Selene to befriend Ronald.
He knew that his men would never do anything strange to Selene, so he left them alone. Still, he didn't like the idea.
That morning the prisoners were ordered to clean their cell rooms. Since Selene was alone, she just sat and relaxed since her room always looked clean.
Since all the cell room doors were open, the other prisoners could go in and out of their rooms freely and there were a few prisoners who thought about entering Selene's room.
"Hey slacker, we're all busy cleaning this prison but you're just lying around!" said one of the female prisoners as she banged on Selene's cell door.
She got up from where she was lying, looking at them with a tired gaze. Tired because of their behavior which she found very annoying and disturbing.
"For what? My room is always clean unlike you guys who look like pigsties," she replied.
Selene's answer was enough to make them feel very upset because their cell room was called a pigsty. This is what made her not have a single friend in prison because she kept saying such things to make fun of them.
However, she did this deliberately because it was to get away from those who were considered very annoying and also she could not look weak in prison.
"You're really annoying! But why does Chief Rothwell prefer you over us!"
"Why? Probably because I'm much better than you guys." She looked at them then smiled.
"Men don't seem to like fussing around like you do. Barking non-stop, doesn't that sound very tiring?" she continued to ask.
"But at least we're much better than you!" they replied.
"From which side?" Selene asked back as she got off her bed and approached them.
Her eyes were as sharp as ever, but showed a mischievous and sly expression. "What makes you think you're so much better than me?"
They then replied that they were not psychopaths like her. The crimes they committed were all to fulfill their own livelihood. Even if they had to sell drugs.
"That's what separates us, your case is just like any other prisoner. Not interesting at all," Selene said.
Unlike her, he took 29 adult lives in 2 years alone with no one to help.
And her motive? Simply because she loved children and didn't want to see them hurt.
What kind of love did Selene have for those children that drove her to commit such a heinous crime?
Because there must be other reasons besides that that drove Selene to actually do it. That's what she believed was why Caelum seemed interested in her case.
'And he's slowly becoming interested in me,' she thought with satisfaction.
"I still can't believe it! Your case sounds so unlikely. It sounds impossible for someone like you!" said one of the female prisoners named Reina.
Reina explained that she was in Redboiler prison because she was a murderer who was also a cannibal. And in the almost 3 years she had been a serial killer, she had never killed more than 10 people.
"I was caught when I killed my tenth victim. I had a hard time covering my tracks until I was caught. How can you kill 29 people in just 2 years? That sounds so ridiculous!"
In response, Selene just laughed softly while looking at Reina.
"That's another difference between us. You couldn't play it neat until the police caught you on your tenth victim," she replied.
Selene's answer made Reina still not believe it. Instead, she challenged Selene to a fight with her. Was that woman really that strong that she could commit such a crime.
"Then fight me! If you're really that good, you should be able to paralyze," she said.
"If I can do it, what will you give me?" Selene folded her arms in front of her chest, waiting for Reina's answer to her challenge.
Reina gasped in surprise when Selene expected a reply to her challenge. "Umnn... I'll confess to you! I'll admit that you're a strong woman, and actually committed such a big crime by yourself!"
Selene stared with a lazy gaze, her eyes even blinking slowly as if she was not very interested in the offer.
"Forget it, I don't want to waste my energy on a confession I don't need," she replied.
"But-"
The brown-haired woman replied that she didn't need recognition from anyone if she was strong or managed to commit such a big crime. It was of no use to her at all.
Knowing that Selene refused Reina's challenge, the other female prisoners immediately shouted at her as a loser. The male prisoners, knowing this, joined in by calling Selene a cowardly chicken.
"I thought she was tough enough to accept Reina's challenge! But it turns out she's just a loser chicken who doesn't dare to fight!"
"Ahahaha! She was just a coward who talked a lot from the start. Her words were all bullshit, and now he's just going to take cover behind Chief Rothwell if anything happens," said another male prisoner.
Her head ached as she listened to the commotion where they kept calling her bad names.
"This prison might lose some prisoners if they keep yelling at me like that," she muttered falsely.
In the end, Selene, who had laid down on her bed and intended to sleep, had to stand back up and stare at Reina who was still in front of her cell.
"Alright, I'll accept your challenge. But on one condition," she said.
"One condition? What's that? Just tell me if it can make me fight with you." Reina looked confident in her words.
After thinking for a moment, Selene finally answered what condition she wanted to give if she won. No one had expected that Selene would ask for that condition in order to fight with her.
"I want you to take off all your clothes and pleasure yourself in the center of the field right in front of everyone."
