Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: A solution part 1

Christopher pointed at the two pheasant and yelled furiously.

"CAPTURE THESE PHEASANT! IMMEDIATELY!..."

Three knights responded back, "Yes, sir!"

When they were about to charge at the intruder, the king stopped them.

"Halt!..."

The three knights stopped, and look at the king.

The room got silent by the kings words.

The king knows that they were 'imbecile' and doesn't know their enemies' strength. He knows of facts that they were idiots.

"These two are my guests. I would appreciate it if all stood down." The king words.

"BUT YOUR MAJESTY—"

The king raised his hand.

Christopher bites his lips and stops.

The king's words were official.

Christopher said, "Then I'll at least hear of what they gonna say." He respectfully follows the king's words.

Alex once again continues...

"We use the summon to warn others of the threats that are heading here. We will try to hold as long as we could—"

Another noble cuts him off by a sudden cough..

"Who's we...?"

Baron says with a straight point.

He wasn't approved of him taking orders.

Alex can sense his unapproved.

"As I say... We, as in one whole group. To defend this city as one." His voice was formal and measured.

"As in we, we mean you... I won't be a part of your plan." Baron says, his tone was serious. While he's pointing at him directly.

Baron wasn't even planning to defend this kingdom. His plan was to flee with his riches and find a place to settle.

"I don't follow a pheasants.." He's mocking Alex status.

Percy didn't like Baron tone.

So Percy decided to speak for Alex, "You arrogant! Don't you get it! The lives of the people are at stake here!" His voice filled anger.

Baron was furious by another pheasant, who spoke out of terms, "I have you know! I'll hang you and the whole family! If you speak to me like that again!" His voice filled with anger and threatening tone.

Percy scoff...

"I don't have a family. My dad left me when I was 9, leaving me with my mom. She happened to die when I reached the age of 20. And that was 5 years ago. Now, I'm here with a new purpose. To save others from their tragedy that is heading towards this city at this moment." He said.

Baron said, " Then I'll find where you live and dig your mother's corps up and spread her ash all over where the pigs grave is. At least she died next to her dead son."

Baron was serious.

Percy was furious,"I swear that I'll—"

Alex stops him.

"Let's all be calm..." Alex said, however, he wasn't appreciated what Baron said to Percy mom.

Alex can feel his hate while holding him back.

He whispers, "Calm down... we came for here for a purpose. Don't let him get to you."

Percy wasn't even sure if he wanted to help these ungrateful nobles. He whispers back,"Let's leave. We are not needed here." He said to Alex ear.

The king notices the intense mood.

"Alright. Let's move on..."

The king decided to drop the mood so they could work together.

"Alex, you will join with the knights. You will also receive a reward if you manage to stop the crisis." He said with grace.

Alex didn't have a choice.

Percy bites his teeth. They were now going to use his friend. He thought to himself,

"Nobles... they will never change!"

Alex can feel the tension of the nobles and despicable plans.

"They were going to use me as a meat shield. While they hide like cowards. Typical nobles, and if I refuse. They probably use their authority to force us if we don't comply." Alex thoughts.

Alex know they weren't even hiding their devious and mocking expression.

Alex nods.

The king was satisfied and able to solve the problem.

"My guards will show you the way to our kingdom finest weapons and equipment. We will also give you our finest hospitality." His voice carries authority and grace.

The king's raised his hand.

The three knights...

Follow their orders.

Jay says, "This way..."

The three knights lead them out.

The king's sighs...

He knows that he had no choice but to use them. Since the situation was the worst way.

He doesn't have enough time to evacuate everyone in the city.

"If only we have a ways to reach others—"

The king immediately thought a way.

"There's that..." He said.

The king immediately stood.

He quickly walks out, leaving everyone.

Everyone was silently and whispering to each other for a situation. However, Baron noticed something about the kings quick expression.

He said in low voice, "What are you up to...?" Baron was curious.

...

At the halls.

The knights lead them to the other side of the hall.

Percy says, "I knew this was a bad idea!"

Alex sighs...

"Let's make a strategy..." He said.

Percy said, "Oh yeah... let me think... Mmh!..."

Percy was sarcastic.

"Let's not try to get us, KILL!..." He yelled with frustration.

Alex remains calm.

"I know you're mad, but yelling won't solve our problems."

Percy responds with anger,"And using us! As shield! While they hide like cowards, they are!"

POW!

Percy hits the walls with his fist. To release some steam that he had been holding it in him.

He could not help himself. "I want to punched that arrogant noble in the face." His voice filled with hate.

Alex softly grabbed his right shoulders.

"I'll be by your side. I'll always have your back." His voice filled with calm and nice mood. Alex words were all true and serious.

Percy shoved his hand,"Y-yeah, yeah. Let's not say something that will hunt me at night."

Percy felt scared.

Alex smirks, "Haha... at least you won't be lonely at night."

Percy got uncomfortable,"Let's not talk anymore."

He slowly walked ahead of Alex.

...

Inside the kings hall.

The ergent footsteps of the kings rushed towards his room.

The king breathes heavily as he reaches his chamber, "Where is it..." he said.

He quickly grabbed a secret key hidden beneath his his bed, his expression now serious and determined.

"Let's start going there..."

The king finger tremble slightly as he clutches the ancient key, its surface worn with age and magical symbols.

"Time to use this key..."

The key was from his father.

It's said that deep down beneath their castle. An ancient door that leads to another location far distance, it leads to their old place. That once had their history locked away from the outside world.

Their great, great grandfather made a deal with a powerful wizard. To cast a magical door to block all outsiders from entering. With the key in his hand. This will grant him access to use that gate.

A sudden door open.

The king's sudden tense rise.

However, it was just his beautiful wife.

"Did I scare you, my love...?" Her voice was soft and sweet.

The king's shook, "No, my love. You have not. I was just overwhelmed by the sudden noise. I apologize if I made you worried." The king's voice was now calm and relaxed.

He slowly hugged his wife for comfort.

The wife fully embraces her husband, relaxing soft arms.

She decided to slowly pull away but noticed something on his hand.

She said,"And what is that are you holding...?" She was curious.

The king's said, "It's the key that will help us..."

Her husband explained everything...

The key will open a secret door underneath their castle, and it will lead them somewhere else to safety.

He hesitates, unsure if he should share more details about the secret chamber.

The queen was surprised about it.

"You had a secret door underneath your castle, and you never told me..." her voice was upset, and her expression was showing frustration.

The king quickly tries to explain himself.

"My love. It's not like that..." He said.

He grabbed her shoulders softly and gentle.

The queen looks away with doubts.

"I wonder... what else you had been hiding away from me secretly?" She was still upset.

The queen wasn't satisfied with her husband explanations.

The king quickly said, "I swear... this is it. I'll promise you that."

He reaches for her hand, his voice pleading.

The queen could tell he really meant it.

"Fine... if I find out. You are still hiding something from me, considering yourself sleeping alone. Hipmh!" She said. She folded her arms with seriousness.

The king slightly got nervous...

But he managed to please his wife.

"I'll consider the consequences." The king said. Knowing he doesn't want to make his wife mad at him.

KNOCK! KNOCK!

Both were surprised by the sudden knocking.

The king and queen step away from each other. They acted normally.

The king fixed his voice before managing to answer, "coughs... Who is it?"

"Your majesty. Your loyal guard asks his Highness to grant me the audience to see your grace." He said.

The king recognizes the voice.

"You may..."

The door slowly opens.

Both king and queen maintain their composure in front of the guard.

Few guards enter.

The guard enters, bowing deeply before straightening up to deliver his reports.

One step forward.

The guard armor gleams in the dim light of the room, intricately designed with Phoenix motifs - a symbol of loyalty to the royal family.

[Status]

Name: Luscious

Class: Knight

Level: 12

He stands before the king and queen.

Luscious says,"Your majesty, the undead army has been spotted advancing from the east side lands. They'll reach us in less than 3 hours."

The king nods gravely, maintaining his regal posture despite the urgency in the guards voice.

The king remains calm despite being feared inside.

The guards await further instructions, unaware of the king inner turmoil as he clutches the ancient key tighter.

The king said, "Mobilize all defensive forces to the gate. Prepare the images and the Archers for battles."

The second guard, having overheard the orders, quickly turns to leave and carry out the king's command.

Third guard,"Yes, your majesty! We'll hold them off as long as we can."

They all left.

The others depart to carry out their duties, but Luscious remains behind, standing guard with his characteristic steadfastness.

Luscious says, "Your majesty, I will personally insure your safety. While you prepare your next move."

Luscious waited further orders.

The king glances at Luscious, appreciating his loyalty and experience.

The king turned to his wife.

"My love, please stay with Luscious while I handle this. He'll protect you with his life." King said.

The king's already decided to use his knights to protect his beloved wife.

The wife nods.

They move immediately and head towards down the hall. They enter the library.

The king slowly goes further way in the back.

He approaches a seemingly ordinary bookshelf and pulls a specific book. The shelf slides aside, revealing a hidden staircase descending into darkness. The king gestures for Luscious and the queen to follow him down.

...

Back at Percy and Alexander in the equipment room.

"I can't believe I'm stuck here!" Percy said while spitting on the ground.

Alex continues to polish his sword while shaking his head at Percy ranting.

Alex said, "Calm down, percy. We need to focus on surviving this invasion first. We can complain about it the king later.

Percy is still mad about what Baron said to his mother, grave.

"That noble bastard deserves to be thrown into the undead horde himself! Who talks about disrespecting the dead like that?" Percy said.

Alex sighs deeply, remembering how Baron had talked about desecrating sacred grounds for personal gain.

Alex said, "I know, but we can't change what happened. Right now, we need to find our weapons and prepare. The guards will need all the help they can get."

Percy eyes gleam with dark humor as he considers the idea of revenge.

"Maybe we should let the undead have taste of that Baron guy first..." Percy said.

Alex can't help but smirk at Percy vengeful thoughts, though he quickly composes himself.

Alex said, "As tempting as that sounds, let's not give the undead, some reason to be angry. We have enough problems already."

He finished sharpening his swords and started gathering other weapons from the gear room.

Alex continues...

"Beside. That fat bastard is bad nutrition for the undead." He said.

"Exactly! Those zombies might actually get sick from eating him!" Percy said while laughing darkly.

Alex shakes his head but chuckles at the absurd image of the nobles being rejected by the undead.

"Well, if that happens, at least we'll know justice was served in some twisted way." Alex said.

Percy laugh and slaps Alex shoulder playfully, their earlier tension momentarily forgotten.

"Come on, let's get moving. We've got some undead to fight and a noble to... avoid." Percy said.

Percy tests the draw weight of his bow, satisfied with its condition. He looks determined as he prepares for the battle.

"Time to show those walking Corpses what we're made of." Percy said while fully confident.
