Chapter 19 - My True Self

"Seka!" Kara wakes up gasping for air after he lost consciousness.

He gets straight and gains some sense of where he is. "this is a hospital" he says.

His eyes open immediately. "What I just saw was… it was Chio's memory," he thinks to himself. He looks around, he sees Hachi right there looking at him, worried. She comes to Kara and asks, "Kara, are you all right? You've been sleeping for two whole days."

"What? Two days?" Kara reacts, shock on his face. "And thank you for making me worried—and using your 5th stage, without thinking!" Hachi looks at Kara with a menacing look.

Kara turns his head down and says, "I'm sorry, Hachi. I made you worry. But I am fine, doesn't feel like it hurts anywhere."

"So what happened after I—" Right when he is about to finish his sentence, a sound hits their ears.

"Kara!" a girl screams from sleep, pressing her head. "Owh! My head, it hurts!"

Hachi and Kara look at her. Hachi, ready to face the confusion, sighs. Kara takes a look at her and starts to think in confusion: "Seka?"

The girl starts to speak loudly, "What I just saw, it was my memories!" She grabs her forehead, pressing on with her fingers, closing one eye, talking to herself.

Kara analyzes what she just said. "Wait… your memories? Wait, so that means you are Chio?" She looks up, sees Kara looking at her with Hachi. Their faces look confused.

The girl gets nervous. "Wait, where am I?" she asks, scared and confused. Her eyes look at every place they can find to rest.

Kara sees as her eyes shine gold just like Seka's, but instead both of her eyes are gold.

The girl looks at Kara and thinks, "He asked me if I am Chio… does that—" She starts to think in her mind. Right after, she asks Kara, "Kara, you mean you saw the memories too?" Her voice slowly gets lower, shakiness in it.

Kara looks at her and realizes the things that happened in the memory. "Don't worry, it's al—"

Before Kara could finish talking: "You did see them… like I did. I am sorry, I—I…" The girl starts to say things that don't make sense, then just runs off.

"Chio, wait!" Kara tries to stop her. He gets out of the bed and takes a step, but his legs have a little pain and pinch. Kara slips and falls down. "Come on, not now!" Hachi starts to follow her.

She sees the girl running in the hallway, but then she runs so fast Hachi loses track of her. "Why is she so fast?" Hachi says. Kara stands and gets to Hachi.

Hachi looks at Kara. "Brother, I am going to look for her below. You go up." Saying that, they split up. Kara goes upstairs.

Kara sees her opening the door. She gets out to the terrace and keeps on running. Kara quickly dashes in and manages to grab her hand. "Wait—why are you running away?"

"I am sorry! It was all my fault," the girl says. She keeps talking, "I did it all, I was the reason my parents were killed—because of me. I am sorry, I didn't know I would cause this many problems. I shouldn't have survived alone… I-I…" She starts to tear up. "I should have—"

A tear falls through her eyes as she speaks breathlessly, tears flowing like a waterfall, as she grabs Kara's hand that's gripping hers. "Please, I—I already caused too many problems," she says, trying to free her hand from Kara.

Kara grabs both of her hand and pulls it up. "That's enough. I never thought of you as a problem—it's just how the events turned out. So stop blaming yourself."

"But then what about all the things that happened because of me?" She looks at Kara with teary eyes. "Why do you keep stopping me?" She starts crying, then looks down and rests her head on Kara's chest. Kara looks down on, his eyes open up widely; he loosens his grip. "Ahh…" Kara tries to. stop her.

*"What am I supposed to do? Who is she? She just looks like Seka—but she reacted to Chio's memory…" * Kara keeps thinking and analyzing what is happening at the moment.

Kara slowly lifts his hands, grabs her shoulders, and looks at her. He sees she is still teary and down, with tears still falling. He takes a deep breath.

"Hey, it's all right. Things happen. It was just an accident, and you were just a child. I don't think your parents would see it like that. I'm sure they loved you till the end."

She calms down a bit and starts to wipe the tears from her eyes, but the tears don't stop coming. Kara says, "Come on, don't let those beautiful eyes just hide inside those tears." He gives a slight smile.

"I am sorry," she says.

"I always feel bad about it. I always regretted it—for destroying my family."

Kara looks at her and says, "You shouldn't. 'Cause it was just something you didn't know at the time. If it wasn't intentional, then there is no need to feel bad about it. We can't do anything now, so let things slide and live your life."

Slowly, the tears slow down.

"Ok… okay," she says as the tears stop and sit in her eyes. She just sits there looking down, her face giving a hint of calmness and sadness, with red cheeks from crying. She turns away, hiding her face. "You're just too good at saying stuff like this," she says in a shaky voice. She moves her hand, patting and feeling to find his hand, then grabs Kara's hands tightly.

"Wait, why did she sound like she knows me?" Kara starts to think in his mind. "Do I know you?" he asks her.

She replies, "What are you saying? I am Seka, did you forget…?" She wipes off her tears.

Kara gets more confused and asks again, "Then why did you run off when I was talking about Chio's memory?"

"'Cause it's something I never said to anyone, and I felt ashamed of," she replies.

"But you just said you're Seka," Kara adds.

The girl gets a bit anxious at Kara's tone toward her. Her face shows fear and confusion.

"Why are you acting this way?" she says.

"Yes, I am Sek—" she stops. "Wait… what am I saying? But I don't think i am wrong." she thinks in her mind.

A slight wind blows, and she notices her hair. "My hair—why? It should be a bit more red and darker." She keeps thinking on her mind, She realizes the situation. "Wait… I think I am Seka, but Chio as well. But it's not making sense—why? Who am I?" she questions herself.

Kara, hearing this, says, "You're not making sense," with an awkward voice. Kara's face looks as if he is scared.

The girl stands and starts to walk to a puddle and looks at her face. "Who am I? Kara, I remember you, everything. I remember you coming to my house, and even when we first met in Kryak."

Kara gets closer to the girl. "So you mean you have, like, the memories of both Seka and Chio? And someone else?"

The girl shakes her head. "No, it's not that. I am Seka and Chio. And now I am me."

Kara looks at her. "Did Seka and Chio combine into a single being? But how can that even be possible?"

She explains, "My last memory was… getting tired a bit as Seka and seeing Chio's eye flickering. Then you fainted," she says to Kara.

"Chio also went down after a while. Then I woke up. But the headache kept coming. I—for some reason—saw my memory, remembered you grabbing me. Then I woke up at the hospital."

"Wait… does that mean the Seka I once knew is gone, and all the moments—" Kara says, his voice shaken.

The girl looks at Kara. "No, the Seka you knew is just a portion of my soul. And I am the real me."

"So does that mean I will never see the Seka I knew again?" Kara says with an expression a bit angry, and sad.

The girl's expression changes. She feels as if she killed someone dear to Kara.

"Hey, why are you making that face? I am here, I am right here in front of you. It's just my appearance that's changed." She tries to calm him down.

"But you're half Chio, and I don't think that's—" The girl starts to tear up, her eyes shaky with all the tears, scared.

"Kara, I love you…" The girl looks in his eyes.

Kara feels sad and looks down. "I'm sorry. What you are saying—you can't love me, 'cause you have Chio inside you."

"But Chio loved you too," says the girl. tears falling down, deeply hurt by his words.

Kara realizes her tears, and what he said, " I m sorry I didn't mean it that way, I don't hate you or anything, its just I-"

Kara gets shocked with the words he just heard. His eyes stare at her for a while, thinking about the sudden confession. "Am I supposed to accept Chio?, I don't want to leave her like this.. "

her eyes start to glister with tears.

he looks at her wanting to comfort her her pulls his hand to her cheeks but rests it on her hands Instead. and with a small and soft tone "I am here, don't worry" Kara says.
