Chapter 79 - Chapter 79

Akashi floated in the middle of the training yard, taking the lotus position, crossing his arms, and focusing on his breaths.

He seemed to have figured out a way to accelerate his training, and that was what he had been doing for the last fourteen days.

In order to master flying, he had decided to do some deliberate practice. By meditating not on his breath, but on flying itself, it allowed his mind to be more present in the moment, and his brain to form neurons faster.

Even at a higher difficulty, this way should always yield better results than training aimlessly.

[Flying up to level 4]

This skill, if kept secret, would be his greatest weapon to screw the Earth Queen. Well, not directly by him, but by Noatak, the one who liked to fight for the oppressed.

Anyways, freeing that man had a strategic value. And then, if Akashi kicked his ass again, he would gain two or three levels. Well, at the current level Akashi had reached, he didn't complain about how many levels he would get from defeating a single opponent.

But he hoped that he would end up fighting against some group of earthbenders and get all the experience he needed. And hopefully, he would reach level 50. At that level, he would be only second to the Avatar.

Reaching level 5 would take another month or two, he thought, looking at the experience requirements for reaching the next level.

He swept his hand.

[Flying up to level 9]

And just like that, Akashi felt that he had become the winner in "The Biggest Loser" show. He felt as if he had lost 80 kg of his weight. Because he was as light as a feather, floating in the air.

He felt as if he had reached a level he would need to train for years and years to master.

He opened the system and flew around. The Chi consumption for flying was too little to be considerable. And he tried to fly around. He was very fast, even without removing air resistance around him.

No. It felt as if he could command that resistance to push him around.

"Great. Too little energy is required to move fast."

After musing for a couple of seconds, Akashi thought about something. He was at the northern part of the city, in the coldest part of Republic City. And he felt like going to a warm place.

Bending the air around him to create a bubble to remove air resistance, Akashi floated high and flew with high speed.

Just by looking at the ground, his reaction speeds from the increased agility stats couldn't keep up. And he almost felt dizzy. In front of him, the islands moved one after the other.

Realizing that he may have broken the sound barrier and that he may go to a very dangerous speed, he stopped the acceleration and slowly increased the resistance of the air to slow himself down.

He felt dizzy for a second as he turned his head back to the direction he came from.

"Infinite speed isn't always good. Need to turn my acceleration to zero at some point."

Akashi breathed in and out in relief.

Had he hit against something while flying above the speed of sound, he would not have survived.

"I guess I can think of a use for strength points as it increases my physical defenses."

Thinking about strength, he remembered wrestling with Korra. He may need a round two or three. Who knows. But it seemed to help him as it was the best ancient form of resistance training.

As he opened his system, he noticed that the Chi consumption was high. To move at such high speed burns a lot of energy, that's for sure. But it didn't drain him that much. He still hadn't burned 100 units of energy yet.

Well, it's better to master it now than later.

Akashi had turned and flew to Republic City, controlling his acceleration until he achieved a high, considerable speed that he could control. Surely, the islands on the way were almost blurry, and that's for someone who had fast senses like him. But it was controllable.

"I'm faster than a jet plane. That's for sure." He then controlled his acceleration to zero, stabilizing his speed. He dodged the birds on the way, moved up and down, and found it very easy to do, despite moving fast. And he got back to Republic City in no time.

As he was supposed to meet the police task force tomorrow to transfer Amon and Tarrlok to the Earth Kingdom, Akashi remembered something.

The City President had told him to shut the hell up if he didn't want to lose his promotion.

That, and the fact that the other council members were eager to take Lin down, daring to use him as leverage.

"That motherfucker got away way too easy. He had been lucky that I had been busy." Akashi smiled widely. "But no more."

The City President was about to take a small nap. After a whole day of bureaucracy, propaganda, and trying to increase his approval rates, he got tired. He went to his house to rest with his wife.

Just as he was about to fall asleep…

"COCOCOCO!"

A loud voice echoed, making the president jump to the roof. His heart beat up so loud that he thought he almost died from a heart attack.

The sound, the pitch, it didn't belong to humans. That's for sure.

The president quickly grabbed his glasses.

The bodyguards of the president entered his room.

"Honey, I'm afraid," said the president's wife.

"Don't worry…"

"What was that?"

"It must be the monster cock."

"I thought that they had chased him away."

"He's back this time."

After fifteen minutes, no sound echoed. The president hugged his wife, and he was about to fall asleep again.

Just as he reached the sweet spot between sleep and awareness.

"Cococococ!"

Even a louder sound wave echoed.

The city president jumped off the bed.

"Honey! He's back," he said to his wife.

His wife woke up from her sleep. "Huh? Who?"

"Did you go deaf, wife. The monster cock yelled again." He said, fully alert. "And where are the bodyguards."

"If he truly was here, the guards would have entered the room." Said his wife, frowning at him.

"It seems you are too tired and now even have nightmares about the simplest things."

"I'm not crazy, I know it." He said, before reluctantly getting back into the bed with his wife.

He stared at the roof.

"Cococococ!"

And the sound echoed, very loud, cutting his sleep.

But as he looked, his wife was still asleep.

She's lost her hearing from the loud sound, that's for sure.

But those guards were getting lazy.

He left his room, and he found the guards in their positions.

"Why the hell are you lazing around! Go and look for that monster cock and shut him up."

"But he didn't yell, Mr. President. Even since then."

"What! Do you want to get fired! Get your fucking ass out of my mansion and look for it! I want it dead or alive."

The guards gave him looks, as if he had lost his mind. But since they were getting paid anyways, they stood up and left the mansion, looking for the mythical 'Monster Cock.'

Akashi, who was standing by the roof of the mansion, repeated screaming, bending the sound to reach only the president.

Now, it was around 5 AM. The president hadn't dared to fall asleep.

But you know what's the strongest trait of a monster.

It's not the loud scream.

It's the victim's fear.

Akashi watched in satisfaction as the president stood up in the room, his wife looking at him as if he had been crazy.

"Today, I've paid back my debt. The other days are for the rest of the council members. Tenzin may be spared." He muttered.

The City's president would spend his night and day, watching out for the monster cock, not taking him by surprise. He'd lose sleep, and occasionally, he would wake up with his heart racing in the middle of his sleep.

Akashi would surely do this a few times, to make him paranoid. That's what would happen for making Lin cry.

Well, practically, Akashi was the one who had made Lin cry by resigning for her sake.

But it was because of the council, the president, and all. And it was the fact that the president threatening Akashi's with his promotion going away that triggered him.

As for why Akashi had let everyone hear the first scream, it was quite simple. To make it seem that the president was losing his mind and leave no room for doubt that he was targeted.

Akashi jumped off the house and flew to his, fast enough not to catch by anyone's eyes.

And there, he took a few hours of sleep. Thanks to his stamina and rapid recovery perk, regenerative perk, he didn't need much sleep. And he was full of energy by 6 AM.

He then took his car and drove to the police station to meet the task force.

There, he entered the large airship. And he found the police chief waiting for him.

Akashi approached her, and greeted her with a kiss on the lips.

"Didn't expect you would wait for me here?" Akashi said.

"Well, I'm joining you anyways." She said.

"Huh?" Akashi tilted his head, "I thought you had duties of catching the rest of the criminals around."

She shook her head, "I want to be with you."

Akashi closed one eye, and thought for a second.

"Korra did join the operation, didn't she?" he asked.

Lin's smile turned into a frown, "Yes. Apparently, the previous Avatar made the law allow the Avatars to stick their noses in our operations."

"Hey, Akashi!" Korra stood at the entrance of the airship and waved her hand.

'Great.' He forced a smile, hiding a frown and thought. 'Now, freeing the bloodbenders would be a difficult task with her around. And the Earth Queen would manipulate her. Wait, that's it!'
