Chapter 8

Adele Wilson

'Hey, Jason. I told my father about it, and he agreed that I move into the dorm'.

My heart hammered hard against my ribcage as I lay on my bed, waiting for Jason's reply. I'd dropped him a message but he hasn't replied even after ten minutes.

"Maybe he's not with his phone."

I muttered, and just as I turned to put my phone away, my phone buzzed. I snatched it like it might disappear if I blinked.

Jason.

I sat up on the bed, my chest heated up as I opened his text.

'Good. I'll talk to the resident director.'

I didn't know why that text made me want to giggle and scream at the same time.

'Thank you.'

'Make sure you are in school as early as 5:50 A.M tomorrow… We are starting our journey tomorrow morning.'

Jason and I exchanged a few more texts before he told me good night.

A smile spread across my face as I read through the texts again, before putting my phone away, and reached for my backpack.

The notebook Jason gave me earlier laid inside my backpack neatly as I opened the zipper, and I picked it up.

My heart twisted as I flipped through the pages. All my favourite foods were canceled, and a new meal plan was made for me.

"How the fuck am I supposed to survive without hamburger?" I whined, dragging my fingers through my hair.

My several other favourites were canceled.

"This is going to be challenging… but you can do it, Adele." I whispered.

My breath hitched as Jason's name rang in my head. I could only imagine how he would look while we were chatting.

It didn't matter why he was doing this, what mattered was the result in the end.

"Enough of Jason. Let's get your things ready." I whispered, going to arrange my clothes in my suitcase.

****"

I slept and woke up to get ready for school at dawn. Since I already packed up my things last night, I just picked my suitcase and left my room.

My father was still sleeping, so I wrote a note and left it on the table for him before leaving.

The rustling sound of dry leaves and the cold breeze swaying my hair welcomed me the moment I stepped out of our apartment.

The first bus usually leaves by 5:30 A.M, so I went to wait for it at the bus stop.

I barely got to the bus stop when the bus arrived, and I boarded it to school.

My alarm blared as I stepped out of the bus in front of the academy. It was already 6 A.M.

"Shit! I'm late!" I cursed silently, dragging my suitcase behind me as I hurried towards the gate, and as I stepped inside the academy premises, I spotted Jason waiting by the veranda.

He stood tall as I approached him, his eyes gazing straight at me. Cold, quiet, and impossible to read.

I halted in front of him. "Good morning, Jason."

He tucked his hands inside his joggers. "You are late on your first day." he roamed his eyes all over me, settling on my eyes. "Woke up late?"

"No. The bus arrived late."

"Follow me."

Jason led me through the hallway. We walked past the boy's quarters… past the professor's quarters… Past the boys and girls locker room, and finally, we arrived at the girls' dorm.

The academy was still quiet. Either none of the students were awake yet, or they had gone somewhere. Maybe for morning workouts, who knows?

"This is the only available room. Every other room has been occupied… You have a roommate."

My heart sank into my stomach when I heard that. I wasn't about to be bullied by another crazy bitch, please.

"Here…" Jason handed the keys to me. "Join me in the school field when you are done."

"Thank you." I whispered beneath the pounding in my chest.

I stared after him as he walked away.

'Bad idea'

My instinct whispered, but it was too late to back out now.

My hand trembled as I inserted the key into the keyhole and unlocked the door, giving way to the neatly arranged room as I pushed the door open.

My jaw nearly hit the floor as I stared around the room. It was bigger than my room back at home. The bed was huge. Not like a regular student's bed.

A tall bookshelf stood at the corner of the room, with different books arranged in it.

"Did I just step into a royal suite?" I whispered, touching the quilt like it might vanish.

As much as the room was beautiful, it still didn't settle with me. There was this fear inside me.

'There is still time, Adele. You can still opt out now'.

I told myself, my grip tightening around the handle of my suitcase.

My attention was drawn to the footsteps approaching outside, and I took a step back, my heart hammering against my throat.

I saw the doorknob twisted, and as the door opened, I held my breath, resisting the urge to squeeze my eyes shut as I waited for whoever the person was.

Then she walked inside. Tall. Slim. Elegance and perfection, the only words to qualify her beauty.

I had never seen her before, but I could smell her scent. She has a strong scent. Like that of an Alpha.

There was something about her… Something that made my instincts stir, not with fear, but with a strange kind of alertness.

We locked eyes, silence thickened around us. It dragged on for a minute, then she spoke up.

"Hey!" Her gaze softened. "You must be my new roomie." She smiled. Even her smile screamed elegance and royalty.

"I'm Viola Storm." She extended her hand for a handshake, but I was so lost in admiring her.

Her skin glowed flawlessly like glass. Not even a single dark spot. Her body was carved perfectly, as though she was a descendant of Aphrodite. The goddess of beauty. Before now, I never believed she existed, but fuck yeah! Seeing Viola now, I was convinced.

Her long voluminous brown hair was packed up in a ponytail, with the tail reaching her waistline. How long is her hair?

She had the most gorgeous eyes I've ever seen. Almond eyes. If only I was as half beautiful as she was.

"Hey!"

Her soft voice snapped me back to reality, and I realised she was still holding out her hand to me.

"Oh… I'm sorry."

I stuttered, taking her hand. Gosh! Her hand was so soft. Like they'd never done a day's work in her life.

"What's your name?"

"I'm Adele… Adele Wilson."

"It's nice to meet you, Adele."

"Hmm. It's nice to meet you too."

My phone pinged with a text from Jason, reminding me that he was still waiting.

"Uhm… I have something to take care of. I'll be back."

"Sure. Do your thing." She smiled.

I nodded awkwardly before dashing out of the room.

How did Jason get to convince her to be my roommate?
