Chapter 231 - 231 The Spears Blueprint

"Alright now that we're somewhere private let's hear what you plan to do."

Chronos glanced at everyone gathered.

"To understand what I want to do I need to show you something and explain my magic."

With that he opened his storage which drew shocked gasps from the others and Archivist Quillfeather tried to fly into it, but Smith caught him before he could.

Taking out the Armory Amulet that he had trapped the spear in he brought the spear to the surface of the amulet then nearly dropped it.

The miasma flames on the spear had become much worse than he had expected.

They waved about causing distortions as they burned the very air above the spear.

With 70% of it burned away there wasn't much left of the metal spear it had once been and the metal that remained was a mutated more durable metal than what he had started with.

If they couldn't find a way to smelt it today he would have to destroy it.

The flames weren't burning Chronos' hands but just in case he coated his hands and arms in an [Isolate] barrier to protect himself.

Looking at the others, he began his explanation.

"I want to use a crafting spell to turn this metal into a spear that I can wield in combat. In order to remove the miasma, I will use my [Void Ice] spell to freeze and shatter the miasma. Then the smiths can shape it into a spear before I cast my [Rift Spear] spell which will turn the newly made spear into a core for the spell and create a space cutting rift along the blade.

I'm not entirely certain how the two spells will interact but since one is of the void element and one is of the space element they should work together. I'm also hoping that I can imbue a part of the voids power into the spear during this process but I'm not sure if it will work."

The others glanced at each other before they started taking apart Chronos' proposed method.

"It won't work boy," Forge Master Bron stated. "The miasma will destroy my forge before we are even halfway through the smelting process."

"Then we use wood from the lawcrown tree to offset the miasma. I know you have some here Bron." Smith said.

Bron looked uncomfortable at that.

Lawcrown wood was extremely valuable as it came from a holy tree that could only be grown by the priests of order and you could only collect it when it naturally fell off of the tree. If you tried to chop the tree down or cut off branches they would lose their holy power by the end of the day.

And he didn't want to use his limited supply of lawcrown wood on a project he wasn't even sure would work.

"Even if we use lawcrown wood the metal isn't any good either. It's too durable and will reject any magic that we try to put on it. We'd need a strong magic ore to balance out the metal's durability and let the magic flow through it."

"I can arrange for some high purity concordite to be brought in. By turning the metal spear into an alloy of concordite it would easily allow magic to pass through and influence it." Archivist Quillfeather spoke up.

Bron thoughtfully looked at his forge.

"So, we'd need to freeze the miasma first while burning wood from a lawcrown tree to prevent my forge from being destroyed. Then we'd need to mix the melted metal with concordite to create a new alloy?... That might work. Let me see that spear."

Carefully taking it Bron turned it over in his hand before frowning and passing it to Smith. Smith picked it up and immediately began frowning as well.

"This isn't going to work, Chronos. I didn't realize it until now, but the metal has become much more durable than the last time I touched it. The flames in this forge can't get hot enough to melt it and high purity concordite won't be enough to balance the spears metal to the point that it creates a new alloy." Smith said.

Archivist Quillfeather hopped on the anvil, getting a closer look at the spear. Then he began frowning as well.

"We'd need a more mythical metal to affect this spear. It's become highly aligned with the physical world and is starting to reject magic and spirit," he said.

They sighed as they realized that they had gotten to the spear too late. If they had been even a few days earlier, they could have made an amazing artifact with it.

"Then what if you add a lump of star dream ore?" A regal voice asked from the door.

Turning to face it Chronos saw a man who looked to be in his late forties or early fifties. He had a muscular build but wasn't large enough to be called a big man with golden flowing locks that framed a face very similar to Magnus Leighla's.

He was King Roderick Von Leighla, and he was standing in the doorway listening to them.

""Your Majesty,"" they all chanted as they dropped to one knee.

"Stand, I don't have a lot of time right now. Answer my question." He commanded.

They glanced at each other discussing the possibility of adding star dream ore to the mix.

Star dream ore was a very precious ore that could only be found where meteorites fell and had the power to enhance one's mental power.

It was most often used in creating crafting tools since it made it much easier to implant a memory that would increase a weapons power using the Memory Implanting Enchanting Method that was commonly used within the Leighla Kingdom.

When used directly in a weapon it would gather the wielder's mental power, intent, and will using them to turn the weapon into an artifact meant just for the wielder.

Such an artifact also had a chance of growing stronger along with its wielder though that was a very rare occurrence.

It had countless different uses making it so valuable that the nation would buy it for the price of a small castle.

Offering to use some in Chronos' spear showed just how much the king valued him.

"Forgive me Your Majesty but even if we use star dream ore the royal forge can't reach the necessary temperatures to melt the spear down. We'd need a much hotter flame than any of the commonly known magic charcoals can reach." Forge Master Bron said.

King Roderick looked deep in thought for a moment before he spoke again.

"Then we'll use the sunflame. Although I'm not sure if this old forge can survive that flame either."
