Chapter 12 - Chapter 13 He arrived early

Zeres arrived at the agreed place, the grand mansion, a little earlier than his friend Kenny. He knew that Kenny despised waiting for anyone. Kenny was a very impatient man, especially when it came to situations where he had something important to talk about.

It was a warm summer evening, and the sun was beginning to set, casting a golden glow upon the luxurious mansion..

Zeres glanced at his watch and realized he had arrived quite early, something he usually struggled to achieve. He let out a sigh of relief. He could clearly recall a while back when he and Kenny were to meet up for a chat about something important. Unfortunately for him, he chose the wrong route, and he was caught in traffic. Kenny kept calling him, and when he arrived an hour later, Kenny was so mad that he told him to go back to where he came from. He even went ahead to take back the black Maybach that he had gifted Zeres on his birthday. He later returned the car to him after he promised that he wouldn't be late for their appointment again.

As he stepped into the agreed place, Zeres could not help but try to think if Kenny had gotten any information or not.

His eyes caught sight of the extravagant place, cozy and welcoming.

He knew that Kenny had assigned someone to renovate the place recently. Kenny had spent a lot of money working on that place, redesigning it from time to time into what Natasha liked.

His attention quickly shifted to the wine cellar, which he knew held an impressive collection of the finest wines from all over the world.

Determined to make the most of his time, Zeres made his way to the cellar, where shelves upon shelves of bottles were neatly arranged. He hadn't had a bottle of wine for a long time and he couldn't waste this great opportunity that came his way. He carefully selected a bottle of the best quality wine, taking a moment to appreciate its rich aroma. He then grabbed a glass from a nearby cabinet and poured himself a full glass.

Sipping the wine, Zeres couldn't help but think about his friend Kenny. He knew that Kenny had been going through a rough time lately, facing numerous challenges and even finding himself under attack by unknown enemies. It worried Zeres, and he hoped this evening would provide a solution for his friend, no matter how small it might be. The two, being together, had tried finding the best solution, and they were still trying. Zeres just hoped that Kenny had found some good information that would help them reach that place, that mysterious place where the antidote was.

According to what he found out when doing his research, the poison was deadly, and in due time, it was going to start acting up. Zeres was aware of how much Natasha meant to Kenny and, because of her suffering, his friend Kenny was suffering too. He was his closest friend who understood him very well, and he had to do everything to help Kenny.

Minutes later, the sound of the mansion's heavy doors swinging open caught Zeres' attention. He turned to see Kenny walking in, his face full of annoyance. He didn't know what that face meant. Kenny had always been punctual, and Zeres knew his late arrival would bring up something.

Kenny approached Zeres with an expression of mock surprise. "Did you sleep here, Zeres? I never thought you'd beat me to it!" he exclaimed, a mischievous twinkle in his eye.

"Don't you know how much of a baby you become when I arrive late?" Zeres talked back.

Kenny looked at him with a more sarcastic smile on his face," Who are you calling a child? Do you want to see how much of a child I can be again?" Kenny asked.

Zeres knew that this time round, he was going to snatch something very important from him. "Ooh, no...I wasn't talking to you, buddy, I am the child."

"Hahaha...looks like someone is afraid I'll take something from him again..."

Zeres chuckled, understanding his friend's teasing.

"Well, Kenny, miracles do happen sometimes," he replied, raising his glass of wine in a toast. "But no, my dear friend, I just came in a few minutes ago."

Kenny let out a hearty laugh, slapping Zeres on the back. "Ah, Zeres, you always find a way to surprise me!" he exclaimed. "I guess I'll have to keep up my game if I want to outshine you."

Outshine him? Outshine him by allowing him to arrive earlier than him? Zeres would never allow that; he knew the consequences. He would always be the one to suffer.

Zeres smiled, glad to see Kenny's spirits lift. He really liked this side of Kenny when he could smile and make jokes. He poured a glass of wine for Kenny, presenting it to him. "Here you go, my friend," Zeres said, a playful spark in his eyes.

"Why are you acting so well? Have you poisoned me?" Kenny asked as he sat beside Zeres.

"But be warned, if I'd poisoned you, I would be a terrible assassin, for I surely wouldn't have chosen such a stupid way to end your life."

Kenny burst into laughter, taking the glass from Zeres' hand. "Well, that's a relief," he responded with a grin on his face. "I suppose I'll trust your questionable assassination skills this time."

The two friends clinked their glasses together and started drinking. Their laughter filled the air as they shared funny stories. In that moment, the weight of Kenny's troubles seemed to fade away, replaced by a sense of comfort, just for the time being, as his heart still had a lot.

With a smile on his face, Kenny picked up his glass of wine and took another long sip. They had an important thing to talk about. He needed to act as soon as possible.

When they were done drinking, Zeres was the first one to speak," Buddy, found out any important information?"
