Everything was fine until one day I got sick and had to stay home.
I lived alone in a small apartment—my parents were in another city.
I felt really terrible, barely managing to get out of bed.
Not to mention, my bed was super soft and stuffed with plushies.
Though, lying with them did make me feel a little better.
*Phone vibrates*
— Huh? Is someone calling me? (Yumi)
Mustering all my strength, I picked up the phone and checked who it was.
— Oh, Ren! (Yumi)
I answered, but before I could say anything, Ren spoke loudly.
— Where are you? Are you okay? (Ren)
— I'm fine. (Yumi)
— Then why aren't you at school? (Ren)
— I'm a little sick... (Yumi)
— Got it! (Ren)
And he hung up. I wonder what he "got"?
After a while, I got hungry, but when I checked the fridge, it was empty.
— Ugh, guess I have to go to the store. (Yumi)
I got dressed and headed out.
At the store, I was picking out ingredients to make soup—something to help me recover faster.
Then I glanced to the right and saw Ren staring at me.
— What are you doing here? (Yumi)
— I could ask you the same, especially since you're sick. (Ren)
— Go back home. I'll buy everything for you. (Ren)
— I can handle it myself, I'm not that helpless. (Yumi)
— I can see how bad you feel. Fine, then just wait—I'll grab everything. (Ren)
I nodded and went to wait by the exit.
About ten minutes later, he came back, took my hand, and we walked toward my place.
My face was burning red—probably not just from the fever.
His hand was warm and comforting.
When we got to my apartment, we took off our shoes. I tried to wash the dishes, but he moved my hands away from the sink.
— You shouldn't strain yourself right now. (Ren)
— Okay... (Yumi)
I went to my room and lay down.
Before long, I fell asleep.
I woke up two hours later to find Ren asleep on the floor beside me.
On the table was soup—Ren's doing.
After sleeping, I already felt much better than before.
I'm really grateful to Ren for his help.
