Chapter 21 - Chapter 21

Su Jin stepped forward, taking out the bandage and disinfectant from the medical box. She looked at Fu Siyan and said calmly, "Old Master Fu's injury is serious. Let me help dress the wound first."

Fu Siyan gaze shifted to Su Jin's face. His eyes met hers—clear and resolute—but he turned away and refused coldly, "We have a professional medical team. There's no need for Miss Su to trouble herself."

So he didn't trust her medical skills.

It wasn't just Fu Siyan who doubted her— even the old lady looked surprised.

She knew Su Jin too well. In the past, she'd never shown any medical knowledge. How could she possibly treat an injury?

"Xiao Jin, don't mess around," the old lady said gently, signalling her not to act recklessly.

Su Jin wasn't trying to act strong, but Old Master Fu's ankle was badly injured. If she didn't treat it now, any delay might worsen the wound.

"If we wait for the Fu family's medical team to arrive, I'm afraid the injury will deteriorate. And if an infection sets in, who will take responsibility?" Su Jin asked calmly, her eyes meeting Fu Siyan's

It was the first time she had confronted him directly since her rebirth.

This was nothing like the warm reunion she had once imagined. If she had a choice, she wouldn't have wanted things to turn out like this.

After all, she truly wanted to leave a good impression on Fu Siyan.

Her question left him momentarily speechless.

"It will take at least thirty minutes for the Fu family's medical team to arrive. Are you really willing to let the old man wait that long?"

Su Jin looked directly at Fu Siyan, her gaze unwavering. Determination burned in her bright eyes—she had no intention of backing down.

Her calm persistence and boldness made Fu Siyan momentarily lose focus, caught off guard by the change in her demeanour.

At that moment, Old Master Fu, who had remained silent until now, finally spoke.

"Then I'll trouble Miss Su Jin."

With his approval, the argument came to an end. Su Jin no longer exchanged words with Fu Siyan. Instead, she knelt down and began cleaning the old man's wound with practised ease.

She dipped a cotton swab in disinfectant and gently cleaned around the wound, her movements steady and skilled, without the slightest sign of panic.

Fu Siyan noticed that Si Jin's technique was no worse than that of a professional doctor—perhaps even more skilled.

In just over ten minutes, she had efficiently cleaned, disinfected, and dressed the wound.

"It's just a superficial injury; no damage to muscles or bones," Si Jin explained as she finished wrapping the bandage. "Avoid contact with water for the next few days, and steer clear of spicy food…"

But midway through her instructions, she suddenly paused.

She realized something was off.

In her focus, she had completely forgotten—she was only an eighteen-year-old girl now.

Yet the way she had just treated Master Fu, calmly and expertly, mirrored how she had handled patients in her past life.

Si Jin raised her eyes—and sure enough, she caught the old lady and Fu Siyan looking at her with suspicion.

Quickly thinking on her feet, she curved her lips into a playful grin. "Isn't that what they always show on TV dramas?"

The old lady let out a quiet breath of relief. So that was it.

Still, watching the girl's precise and confident technique, she couldn't help but think—this child really did seem to have the makings of a doctor.

Fu Siyan, on the other hand, wasn't just puzzled by her medical skills. What lingered in his mind was the moment she had confronted him.

Those clear, determined eyes of hers… That unwavering persistence had momentarily shaken him. Made him hesitate.

In just a few days, Su Jin had changed dramatically.

Was this really the same second Miss of the Su family? The one used to be stepped on like a doormat?

"I didn't expect that Su Jin had a talent for medicine. The old lady has truly raised her well," Master Fu praised warmly, causing the old lady to burst into delighted laughter.

To be praised by someone like Master Fu—it was a great honour and brought her immense pride.

Fu Siyan stepped forward to help Elder Fu up. The old man stood steadily with his cane, then turned to Si Jin with a kind smile.

"I heard you were admitted to the prestigious University?"

Si Jin nodded, her smile graceful. "Yes, I was."

"Good, good—young and promising." The old man paused thoughtfully, then added, "Would you be interested in coming to work at my company for some experience?"

The old lady looked at Su Jin in surprise, her heart filled with disbelief.

No one knew better than her what it meant to enter the Fu Corporation—a global empire spanning real estate, finance, IT, and more. Joining the Fu family business was equivalent to stepping onto the path of success.

Even the most prestigious and authoritative medical facility in the capital, Kyoto First Hospital, operated under the Fu Corporation's banner.

Elder Fu offering an opportunity to Su Jin was nothing short of a once-in-a-lifetime chance.

Si Jin was momentarily stunned. Seeing her dazed expression, the old lady nudged her gently with her elbow and whispered, "Silly girl, what are you doing? Hurry and thank Elder Fu!"

Si Jin came back to her senses and quickly bowed slightly, smiling. "Thank you so much, Elder Fu."

"Don't let me down," Elder Fu replied with a smile. Then he glanced at Fu Siyan, who was standing nearby, and added, "I'll leave her to you."

Fu Siyan looked visibly startled, clearly reluctant.

But with Elder Fu's command already given, he had no room to object. After a short pause, he nodded in agreement.

"Mom, are you okay?" Su Mingyuan rushed over upon hearing the commotion. When he saw the scene before him, he looked visibly embarrassed.

Just moments ago, he had been receiving guests in the front yard and hadn't realized that something had happened to the old lady. By the time he arrived, it was already too late.

The old lady gave him a look of displeasure. Though clearly dissatisfied, she restrained herself in front of outsiders. "If Elder Fu hadn't reacted in time and pulled me back, I'm afraid these old bones of mine would've taken a serious fall."

Su Mingyuan quickly turned to Elder Fu and bowed slightly in gratitude. "Thank you for your timely help. I'm truly grateful. The poor reception today is entirely my oversight. I'll make a formal visit to express my thanks another day."

Master Fu glanced at Su Mingyuan without much expression. Seeing the overly flattering smile on his face, a trace of displeasure flashed in his eyes. "A small slip like this might not matter to you, but for someone my age, it could be serious. It's getting late—we should take our leave."

"It may seem like a small matter to you, but it's a big deal to me," Su Mingyuan replied eagerly, completely missing the implied reproach. He continued to chatter, "I must pay you a proper visit. It's only right."

Master Fu originally intended to refuse, but when he saw the old lady standing nearby with an awkward expression, he changed his mind.

"Let Xiao Jin come by tomorrow to change my dressing," he said casually. "Those family doctors are too fussy—always restricting my meals. It's better to have someone quiet around."

Not once did Master Fu mention Su Mingyuan by name, which left the man feeling thoroughly embarrassed.

Upon hearing Master Fu name her directly, Su Jin was taken aback, unable to hide her surprise.

"Alright, I'll be there on time tomorrow," Su Jin responded gracefully.

Old Master Fu smiled in approval. "I like how straightforward and dependable this girl is."

A group of people escorted Master Fu to his car and watched as the luxurious motorcade slowly drove away.

Just before the car door closed, Fu Siyan's gaze swept lightly over Su Jin. His deep, unreadable eyes were darker than an ancient well, as if they could pull a person in entirely. That brief glance made Su Jin's heart tremble inexplicably.

Fu Siyan... Fu Siyan...

She silently repeated his name, as though drawing strength from it.

Tomorrow—she had high hopes for what it would bring.

"Xiao Jin, do you want Dad to take you there tomorrow?" Su Mingyuan asked, still hoping to accompany her.

The old lady saw through his intentions immediately and said with displeasure, "Someone from the Fu family will come to pick her up. What would you be going for?"

"Mom, I just want to build a better relationship with the Fu family," Su Mingyuan explained with a forced smile.

"Alright, alright, go back now. I'm a little tired," the old lady said, issuing a clear dismissal. Her expression showed just how annoyed she was by Su Mingyuan's persistence.

Seeing Su Jin still standing quietly nearby, Su Mingyuan turned to her with a trace of reluctance in his voice. "What about you, Xiao Jin? Aren't you coming home with me?"
