Carl stopped at a nearby supermarket and entered to buy water. As he paid the bill his eyes landed on a shelf in front of the counter.
"This is," he reached out to pick one up, reading the back.
"Hangover medicine," the cashier answered without looking up.
"I'll take two," he said placing them on the counter. With a nod the cashier placed them in the paper bags along with the water bottles and handed him his change.
When he returned, he placed both on the dashboard and looked around the car. The two men were still fast asleep.
The dim glow from the parking lot's lights seeped into the car, letting him see Ryan's face clearly. Carl turned to the side, his gaze scanning Ryan's profile as if memorizing it. Ryan's head hung at an awkward angle against the seat, and his glasses hung at the tip of his nose, ready to fall off at any moment. The man scrunched his nose as if feeling the weight and adjusted it before continuing to sleep peacefully.
