Chapter 1 - Prologue: Kill The Moon: Aftermath

Clara was still in shock. She just stood there numb in the TARDIS by the door still comprehending what just happened. One minute she was exploring the moon, the next the Doctor was forcing her to decide between killing a creature along with risking the lives of innocent humans or saving the planet. This was something she never thought her own friend would make her do but that's what happened and what was worse the Doctor didn't seem to care.

She watched him as he ran around the console, carefree, rambling about a new planet to discover but Clara couldn't hear all she could hear were anguish cries, explosions, and questions of whether she did the right thing or not.

Just then she felt a soft touch lightly tapping her forehead, she slowly glanced up at the Doctor who was looking at her confused.

"Hello," He scoffed. "Didn't hear you me?" The Doctor asked.

She shook her head still slightly stunned.

The Doctor sighed.

"I've been standing here for five minutes asking what you thought of going to Barcelona," He replied. "Not the place, the planet, really beautiful," The Doctor added as he continued flipping switches. "Always meant to go but never have for some reason but what do you think? Sound good?" He rambled continuing around the console.

Clara just stared at him shocked.

She had just faced the difficult choice of destroying of a creature along with endangering innocent lives or saving the planet and he was asking her about a vacation! Was he always this cruel or had she just been this naïve, she wondered?

Clara just shook her head. She had enough!

"Take me, home." She ordered.

The Doctor paused, confused.

"Sorry?" He replied.

"Take me, home!" She said louder, glaring at him.

"Why, what's wrong?" He asked.

Clara slowly came towards him, her fists tighten.

"What you did to me was cheap, it was horrible, it was patronizing, I mean how could you!?" She cried.

The Doctor just shrugged completely clueless why Clara was suddenly mad at him.

"I don't understand." He replied confused.

She scoffed at him.

"You made me decide between life and death! A choice, no human should have to make, let a alone by someone you claim is your friend!" Clara yelled.

The Doctor shook his head.

"No, I was simply allowing you to make a choice about your own future. That's what you want, right? Humans making choices?" He defended.

Clara wanted to strangle him!

"Are you really that daft," She shouted throwing her hands up. "I almost didn't press that button. I was afraid of getting it wrong. I was so terrified, but you obviously bloody didn't care, did you, !?" Clara said, tears building.

The Doctor scowled.

"Oi,' language." He scolded.

That just enraged her more!

"Oh, don't you dare, I have every right to use whatever language I want after what you put me through," She told him, wiping her eyes. "You always treat me like this, like I'm just a silly human with silly unimportant feelings that only matter when you need to feel big and important!" "You abandoned me!" Clara accused.

The Doctor shook his head.

"I did not," He insisted. "I was trying to help, honest!" The Doctor assured her.

"How by leaving me on my own!?" She scoffed.

"Yes." He replied frustrated.

Clara nodded folding her arms.

"Yeah, well, I'm done," She told him, firmly. "I'm done with this, your stupid TARDIS and you!" Clara stated.

She turned to leave, the Doctor started calling after her hoping to stop her.

"Clara, wait, please!" The Doctor begged but it was too late.

Clara paused with her hand grasped on the knob, glaring at him her normally bright brown eyes, now tear-stained with hurt and anger.

"Why don't you go away, huh? Just go a long way away." She said, her voice shaky but cold.

The Doctor just stared at his impossible girl, his best friend completely stunned. She really meant it, he realized.

Before The Doctor could speak another word the door shut with a loud slam!

Clara now stood, there alone in her living room as the sound of the blue box dematerializing behind her, papers flying around her as a somber reminder of her choice and then just silence. The realization slowly hitting her, no more travels no more chaos. No more Doctor.

For a minute she almost regretted her decision but quickly decided that she had made the right choice. This was for the best and she would be okay.

Clara took a deep breath and made her way to kitchen and ultimately, the first step to the rest of her new life.
