[Narrator's point of view]
Felix and Ariel started their new life on their new farm, Ariel wanted to have a welcome party inviting her friends from school, but Felix made her think if it was the most sensible thing to do, it seemed that the young man cared a lot about the safety of the house, after all they were still just two 17-year-old teenagers, and Ariel gave up his desire.
She asked if they would then have to keep their relationship a secret, but after thinking about it Felix did not find a logical argument for it to be so, it would not change anything in their lives except the fact that others would see them as people no longer available. However, the questions about their marriage would lead to more questions about their private life and that if it was dangerous, so they both agreed to only say that they were dating or that they were dating if someone asked them, in a way that's how it felt, they were already married, but they were just getting to know each other.
When Felix saw Ariel's look of resignation he felt bad for her and promised her that even if things were like that for a while, when they finally graduated and if she still agreed to be together then they would celebrate a huge wedding and she could invite whoever she wanted, that made her very happy and she agreed with him, That would give them time to prepare because there were only four months left before the end of high school.
It wasn't that Felix wanted to impose his rules on his new wife, he just wanted to keep them safe, and he told her that if she ever saw him step out of line she should tell him and advise him, they were a team and the duty of both of them was to support each other, that made Ariel laugh and promised to give him a zap whenever he deserved it, Felix laughed a little worried at how enthusiastic Ariel sounded when talking about hitting him.
Felix sat in his little kiosk in the middle of that lake, maybe some turtles would look pretty on it. He looked at his house, just a day ago they had finished installing and bringing everything they could think of, internet, solar heater, machines for a home gym, chemicals to treat the pool and a cart mower. He was a young enthusiast, so of course he bought the biggest screen he could find and all the consoles and games that the geek guy in the store recommended.
If everything had not yet been said about him in his appearance, he was a fair-skinned young man, his eyes were blue and his hair was black and luxuriant, like a jumble but he looked good from the front, he didn't have a hint of baby fat, he was as healthy as he could be, but that was the object, The appearance that everyone saw and that he cared to keep presentable, not out of vanity but out of protection, was what others could see of him, what would tell them how vulnerable he was, and pride was all he was, he wouldn't let anyone look down on him, no more.
His psyche and emotions were another story, a life of emotional abuse had made him the person he was today, kind by manners, jealous of his belongings because he had come to understand that he never had anything he could really call his own, until now at least. Perhaps what he lacked most in the world was company, he was a sociable young man but only to get used to the ways of what he could call friends of the slightest degree that were some of his classmates, but none of whom he felt the desire to invite to his new home, so they could not be so important.
Felix looked at Ariel in the garden taking care of the flowers they had just brought, she was their everything now, and he was the world to her, they were all they had from each other. It wasn't that he was in love, attracted yes, but not in love, although he wouldn't deny that whenever he was close to her he had an uncontrollable desire to hug her and spend the whole day curled up on the sofa with her feeling her softness, not that he would admit it one day, but he attributed it more to the human need for affection and contact than to wanting to do it with her especially.
It was like seeing a beautiful work of art with a life of its own. She caught him looking at her and far from being scared she smiled sweetly at him, that hat he wore to cover her from the sun looked adorable on her. Maybe that was the secret to being a happy couple, just feeling comfortable with themselves and each other.
Ariel was still somewhat reserved with him, but little by little he knew more about her, although it was not that he was in a hurry, they had a whole life to get to know each other, or so he hoped, it was not that he was looking for the best of the best in a partner, she had only been a pleasant gift of circumstances.
He looked at the empty garage, maybe a car would come in handy, or a truck?, he looked at Ariel again and smiled, he would tell her, he had found that she had a very good taste in almost everything, maybe they can choose something between the two of them.
Although they had only been living together for a few days they had started a routine, both had breakfast and dinner together, they did not take turns doing the chores but even shared their time, while one washed the dishes the other dried, while one cooked the other prepared the table or made water from some of the fruits they had, both teenagers got along very well, It was fun for both of them to find that that competitive nature they always had in their classes wasn't lost in their new life. Whether cooking, cleaning or in video games, it brought joy to their lives, not because they had something to prove, but it was as if both were still trying to validate their place in that relationship, to make the other see their virtues and how useful they could be, how capable, as a test of how far they could trust each other.
If someone asked Felix about any problem that had arisen with Ariel during their short period together, the first thing they would think of would be Ariel's nightmares, it was common for her to scream in the middle of the night and for Felix to wake her up to run to Ariel's room.
He would never forget the first time it happened. It was after two in the morning when his sensitive ear was whipped by heartbreaking screams of someone calling his parents, the same second he opened his eyes he understood what and whose screams they were, and before he knew it he was already running down the hallway towards Ariel's door. It was locked, a security measure that he himself had asked her to use but now cursed for himself.
-MAAMAAAAAAA!!
Ariel's screams were heartbreaking and full of terror, perhaps that is why desperation did not let him think logically and instead of looking for the general keys to the house he decided to kick and hit the door with his body until the sheet metal was unusable and he was finally able to enter.
He found the poor girl screaming and raising her hands trying to reach for something in the air, her screams were not even understandable anymore. Felix grabbed her by the shoulders and shook her, even when she began to throw frantic punches in the air he did not give up until he was finally able to wake her up.
Ariel woke up stunned and disoriented in Felix's arms and it only took a few seconds for sleep to return to her already aware of what had happened. She cried again and hugged Felix with all her strength while crying on his shoulder like a baby with all the strength of her lungs.
The stabbing pain that Felix felt in his shoulder was not enough for him to want to push her away, he was sure that at least he was injured when he threw himself like a caveman at that door, but well, at least Ariel was already better. It took him a few minutes to calm down enough that it was just sobs.
- Are you better yet? - Felix asked, taking her shoulder with his left hand, the right hand along with his arm close to it refused to answer correctly.
-Yes hip, sorry hip, it's that I hip. Ariel tried to say, but she was gently returned to the one-armed embrace.
-shh, it's okay, everything is fine now. – he said while rubbing his back.
That night Felix stayed in his room sitting in a chair holding her hand until she fell asleep. Ariel woke up the next morning still holding Felix's hand, the memories of the early morning quickly came to mind, and a cocktail of emotions took her heart in light doses, fear for her sleep, shame for having cried like a baby over Felix, a little happiness for having helped her, and more shame for not knowing how long she would stop increasing her debt to him for all the things he did for her. she. That was until she saw the object of her thoughts asleep in the chair, with a trickle of drool running down her cheek, no shirt, no pants, and with a purple arm and in a position she was sure was unnatural.
-FELIX! – Ariel screamed, scared to the core by her husband's arm.
-What?! who? What – said Felix jumping out of his chair and looking for the source of danger, but all he found was a dazed Ariel wearing nothing more than a nightgown and panties. –HEY? – was the smartest thing he could say.
- Your arm! – Ariel shouted at him. Félix looked at his left arm not finding anything strange in it and then returned his gaze to Ariel with a raised eyebrow. - Your other arm! – she shouted at him, pointing to the correct one.
Felix looked at the bruise formerly known as his right arm and opened his eyes, suddenly feeling the pain.
"There's..." he said gritting his teeth and feeling every movement he made as if his bone was trying to jump out of his body.
- Let's go to a hospital now! – she yelled at him and in just a few moments she put on some shorts to run to Felix's room for some shorts that she made him put on without moving him much.
They called a private transport from an application and took him to the nearest clinic, it was a private one but money was not a problem for them. And there they were, one without a shirt or shoes and the other crossing her arms because she didn't even have time to put on a bra in such a hurry as she was.
The doctor only laughed at the funny situation while she gave a piece of cloth to Félix to bite into while rearranging his arm. It was the first time that Felix wished he had not been so stubborn and since then he promised himself never again to deny the medical procedures that the doctors suggested, this because the doctor at first wanted to inject him with two vials of anesthesia, but any contact with his arm made his nerves burn with pain and a needle penetrating that did not seem a good idea, But oh the irony, because he was sure that any pain he felt from those needles would be nothing compared to the pain he was feeling now as he rearranged his bone.
-¿all... Can you still give me those injections? - Felix said with tears coming to his eyes. The doctor laughed lightly and applied them along with several painkillers. He was right, compared to his stabbing pain those stings were not felt.
-aaaah. – was Ariel's audible sigh when the doctor finished her work, bandaged Felix's arm and tied him with a holder that would prevent his arm from moving. Then he went outside to pick up his prescription and bill.
As soon as the doctor left the room and they were alone, Ariel began to sob again.
"I'm sorry, forgive me, I'm sorry. - she said tearing with her head bowed and her face covered by her hair. Felix looked at her and decided that it hadn't been that serious, it was more his monkey brain that didn't help him think of a better solution than anything she had actually done.
Felix put his good hand on her head and brought it to her bare chest.
"It's okay, don't worry, it wasn't your fault, I should have gone to get the keys." - he said caressing his head.
-But I.
-Shh, it wasn't your fault, it was my decision and I would do it again. - he said making her shudder a little.
"No, you are forbidden to hurt yourself like that again, especially for me." - she said looking up with a tender anger and frown, the tears did not let her be very threatening.
-I accept the first, but I don't promise anything about the second. – he said trying to ignore the pain.
Félix continued to watch as Ariel wiped away his tears and blew his nose with some of the toilet paper that the doctor had in the office, but his smile disappeared when he started to think about everything that had led them there, it seemed that a psychologist was going to be necessary, and not only for Ariel, He was also quite screwed by his family history, of that he was sure.
When they got home, Ariel did everything possible to make Felix comfortable, but it took only one day for him to regain mobility in his arm with only a slight pain and three for it to be nothing more than an annoying sensation.
Returning to him sitting at the kiosk, Ariel had not let him do much and that is why he was sitting there where she could watch him while he took care of his new garden. Felix felt a warmth in his chest when she looked at him like that, with that concern to be his whole world, but maybe, in a way, now he was, he was all she had, and she was all he wanted.
- How about filling this lake with turtles?! – he shouted from the kiosk, Ariel turned to look at him and his eyes lit up.
"Yes, they would be very cute, you have to go tomorrow after school to a pet store!" – she shouted happily as she began to imagine herself surrounded by baby turtles.
