Chapter 9 - An Unexpected Audition

I tried not to gawk as the security guards waved me through the massive wrought-iron gates. The Silver Crescent main estate wasn't just impressive—it was overwhelming. The driveway alone stretched longer than my entire apartment complex, lined with perfectly manicured trees and flowering bushes that probably cost more to maintain than my yearly tuition.

My beat-up Honda Civic looked hilariously out of place among the luxury vehicles I passed. The mansion at the end of the drive loomed like something from a movie—all white stone and gleaming windows, with columns that stretched toward the sky.

"You can do this," I whispered to myself, gripping the steering wheel. "Just be professional and confident."

I parked where directed and smoothed down my simple navy dress—the nicest thing I owned. My heart hammered against my ribs as I approached the front entrance, clutching my portfolio to my chest like a shield.

Before I could even knock, the massive door swung open.
