"You don't know when to quit, Nitaru!" Riku laughed, slashing the air with his newly summoned flaming katanas.
Nitaru gritted his teeth as the flames burned his skin with hatred. He decided to focus on trying to defeat Riku and take him out instead of engaging in conversation with him while fighting. The buildings around them groaned and shook with every clash of their swords, glass shattering and debris falling from the intense vibrations.
The ground cracks and shakes, and the clashing of Nitaru and Riku fighting continues once again. Nitaru gritted his teeth and shot straight forward, his pulse quickening as he prepared his technique. With every step, his legs quivered in pain and some unknown feeling. The pain was unbearable to the point he thought he would collapse at any moment, but he knew that he couldn't give up when he was so close to Akujin. Despite the toll he is putting on his body, he continued to push forward, slashing his sword against Riku's flaming blades and preparing a technique.
"Misfortunate Rain of the Shadow" Nitaru unleashed his technique, and it blurred Riku's vision from its brightness. The light emitted from it shined so brightly, before joining together tightly into some white-like sphere, and then turning black. Riku knew whatever Nitaru was unleashing was going to be deadly, so he started to retreat but he knew it was way too late for that. The sphere expanded, so much that the buildings surrounding Riku and Nitaru began to collapse from the shockwave the sphere exhaled. The ground shook with so much force that Riku collapsed to his knees and just accepted his fate. Glass shards poured down from the broken windows as the wind from the shockwave spread.
A cloud of dust arose from the scene, and Nitaru slowly approached Riku who was bleeding profusely and his leg broken from landing on a piece of steel debris. Riku, with no strength left to defend himself, looked up at Nitaru and pleaded for forgiveness and aid.
"N-Nitaru... please," Riku coughed, blood spilling from his lip and dripping down onto his chin and clothes. "You know I was only joking. Just bandage me up and I'll fight Akujin with you."
Nitaru knew this was a trick once again. He knew deep down that Riku would just keep attempting the same thing over and over again. It was pointless to help Riku when Nitaru knew he couldn't trust him. Never would he ever trust him again. How could he after all that he had done? It was almost impossible, and it would be insane of Nitaru to trust him again.
"No," Nitaru answered coldly, his cape flapping in the gentle, smoky wind. "I gave you enough chances, and you wasted them all. This is farewell."
Riku's eyes widened in fear, and he dramatically raised his arms from his laying position, "W-wait! Don't you even care that you're going to kill me, a valuable resource that you can use against Akujin?"
"Why would I care? I can't trust you anymore so now you're nothing but pointless crap," Nitaru scowled, rolling his eyes and pressing his daggers against Riku's neck that was already bleeding from light cuts.
Riku gulped nervously, sweat pooling from his face and neck, his palms shaking as he lowered them to the dirty asphalt below him, "Just give me another chance, Nitaru! You can't just throw away a friend like me, don't do this! You know it's wrong!"
"Yeah, you're right." Nitaru spoke dryly, his voice raspy and filled with uncontrolled anger.
Riku raised an eyebrow at Nitaru.
"You're right, I can't just kill you. I'll torture you." Nitaru grinned, slicing Riku's neck.
Riku laid there motionless, blood splattering from his neck onto the street. It was about time Nitaru dealt with old business. Riku was just a waste of time, someone who wanted attention for what he did, and was always unsatisfied. Nitaru knew there was no time to waste.
Tokima approached Nitaru, sweating profusely and out of breath, "You made it here!" Then she looked at Riku below and gasped.
"Don't bother to give him attention," Nitaru sighed, standing up from his crouching position, "Tokima is in that building." He pointed to the only lit building.
Tokima nodded, "Let's go in together then."
The two both approached the tall building, and Nitaru knew this was what was needed to be done. He grasped the doorhandle and opened it wide, the door creaking with anticipation. The light shined onto both of them, their faces glimmering from the drops of sweat present on their skin.
Rin slashed Ruka, in which she flipped backwards, avoiding the dangerous techniques Rin was unleashing. The ground shook with each attack, and all Ruka could do was dodge due to the frequency of attacks.
"You've been getting slower!" Rin shouted excitedly, exhilarated with Ruka's unavoidable exhaustion.
"Don't mention it," Ruka gritted her teeth, pursuing forward and attacking with more precision.
Zak was handling the bombers, trying to have minimum damage to the buildings in the vicinity. He kept looking back to make sure Ruka was alright, and he continued attacking the bombers.
Ruka prepared a technique, clenching her fists together. "Shattering Icicle!" Multiple icicles appeared from Ruka's hand, hurling towards Rin at such a high speed it was almost undetectable. Rin backed away, leaning back and bending to avoid the icicles.
"Cheater," Ruka snapped, emitting freezing liquid from her hands and when it landed on any surface is froze and burst.
Rin grinned, "You're getting desperate now, scared huh?"
Ruka gritted her teeth, anger pushing her to her limits. Rin and her both prepared a technique to test who can withstand it.
"Cold-Hearted Blizzard!" Ruka unleashed her technique.
"Gruesome Desire!" Rin unleashed her technique.
Ruka was slashed about a hundred times, all tiny cuts but blood still spilled out of her wounds. Each cut burned with heat and Ruka screamed in pain, even though she tried not to. Rin froze from the snow that landed on her, the snow turning into an ice facade that froze her entirely, and when Ruka got the chance, she threw a heavy rock towards Rin.
The rock collided with the ice, cracking it and causing the ice to shatter into thousands of pieces.
Ruka breathed heavily, relieved and exhausted from how long the fight went on. Zak ran over to her, "Are you hurt badly?" He grabbed a bunch of bandages in a hurry.
"No, Im fine," Ruka sighed, breathing still heavily as she tried to stabilize her body.
The wind blew harshly, the buildings creaking weakly from the amount of damage that was done to them. Smoke arose from several areas of the metropolitan area of Tokyo. Gyonu had awoken and was in a desperate search to find Heizu, his heart pulsing with worry as he saw the destruction surrounding him. When Gyonu found Heizu's lifeless body, his fists clenched, and he looked towards the lit tower at the center of the city.
Akito and Ezra found the lit tower, heading towards it as they wanted to aid Tokima since they knew she was heading towards the same tower. Ryota and Yuja both were lost in downtown, surrounded by the skyscrapers that emitted black smoke and angry flames that flickered in the towers. The night was just beginning. There was still Akujin and her devoted aids that would be there to stop them at any moment. But they knew they had to persevere.
Nitaru and Tokima approached the door of the rooftop and looked at each other.
"Ready?" Nitaru asked, his hand firmly gripped around the door handle.
"Never have been more ready," Tokima smiled, grabbing the other door handle and preparing to open it.
