"Wow, this smells really good. Looks like they used some special seasoning on the chicken," Nolan said.
I'm in a village, but it feels more like a city. Lanterns glowed on every corner, the scent of roasted meat and baked bread filled the air, and the cobblestone streets bustled with people in clothes that looked out of place for a village. Even the menus looked strange—omelets and other dishes I'd never seen before.
He picked up a knife and cut into the chicken. Celia and Linda didn't touch theirs yet, and Nolan noticed immediately.
"Is anything wrong?" he asked.
"No," Celia replied softly. "Is it alright if we eat?"
"Of course," Nolan said with a small smile. "Please, help yourselves."
They picked up their forks and knives and cut small slices. As they took their first bites, both paused.
"What is this? It's juicy… and really good," Celia said.
"This tastes amazing," Linda added.
Nolan's smile widened. "Good. I'm glad you're enjoying it."
