Chapter 3 - Locked Up

Chapter 3

Samantha's POV

Locked Up

"Where is this?" I mumbled to myself in fear. I wanted to run away, but the security was too tight. Luca dropped me off at this building, and he didn't get out of the car. 'Seems like he abandoned me here,' I thought, as I stepped back fearfully. Suddenly a lady from nowhere showed up and dragged me into a dark room. I tried to fight back, but she was too strong for me to handle.

"Did he send you to kill me? Are you trying to kill me? Let me go… I promise to compensate you—I'll do anything you want; please let me go."

I tried to persuade her, thinking she might understand me and let me go, but that was my biggest mistake.

"I wish he gave me that order!" She hissed as she kicked my tummy. "What?" I gasped in shock. I didn't remember seeing her anywhere. I made sure to not step on people's shoes while walking. I lived a good life. Why? I did nothing wrong to her.

"What have I done to deserve this?!" I yelled, and I was shut up with a resounding slap. The silence shattered. As her hand connected with my face. The impact was immediate, a sharp, stinging slap that stole my breath. My head snapped to the side, and the world swam for a moment.

"Ahhhh!" I winced in pain as I tasted blood. My lip, I realized, was split, a tiny, angry wound. A trickle of red traced a path down my chin, a stark contrast against my pale skin. The sting was a burning reminder of the force, the sudden, brutal violation.

"Why are you doing this to me?" Disbelief warred with the pain. My cheek throbbed, a dull ache that slowly began to spread. I brought my hand up, tentatively touching the damage, the sticky wetness of the blood a grim confirmation of what had just happened.

"What's my sin!" I screamed as tears streamed down my face, causing more pain as they brushed the wound.

"Stay here quietly!" She yelled at me and locked the door from behind.

"What are you doing? Let me out!" I hit the door aggressively, but no one— showed up. "Please get me out of here!" I cried tiredly inside the dark room.

The darkness is a suffocating blanket, thick and absolute. The air hangs heavy, stagnant, and each breath feels like a struggle. Sitting on the floor with my bloodstained wedding gown in that dark room was the scariest moment of my life. I reached out, my fingers brushing against cold, unyielding walls. There's no sound, save for the frantic drumming of my own heart.

My wedding day passes by as time loses all meaning. Is it still morning? Afternoon? The absence of light steals the rhythm of the day. 'Has it been hours?' I thought.

I couldn't stop crying, but tears stopped coming out of my eyes. Remembering how my father passed out on the street breaks my heart more. "That monster!"

He didn't even bat an eye when my father fell on the ground. He dragged me here then left like a coward. "I will kill him!" I screamed.

As time went by I lost all my energy and couldn't even make a sound as I battled with fear and anger. I couldn't figure out what the time was, I tried to remember when I got locked up, to grasp at some anchor of reality, but the memories are as elusive as the shadows. Hunger gnaws, a dull ache that sharpens with each passing moment.

"Please help me" I mumbled as my vision became blurry, my body couldn't hold out for so long and I almost fainted.

But then the door wide opened revealing a familiar figure, the one I despise so much. "Hey!" His baritone voice rang out, but I couldn't react because I was losing my consciousness already. I tried to move away as he walked closer.

"Don't come near me— don't touch me you beast." I chanted those words as I tried to wake up.

"Samantha!" He screamed my name, and that was the last word I heard as I lost consciousness.
