Chapter 43 - Chapter 43: The Battle for Koya Koya, Part 1

After Doraemon refused, Roppuru didn't press the issue. He just told us to go home.

I didn't care either way, but I couldn't say yes right away.

There's a right time to play the hero.

After all, helping when things are already good isn't as memorable as helping when it really matters.

If I jumped in right away, wouldn't that just make me look desperate?

Call me selfish if you like, but people should be judged by their actions, not their thoughts.

Anyway, it's not that I won't help—I'm just waiting for the right moment. As long as I save Koya Koya in the end, who cares what my motives are?

So I decided to wait a bit before going back to Koya Koya.

But before that, I pulled out my old toy gun from home.

A real gun? No way I could get one!

But in the original story, going to Koya Koya turns Earthlings into superheroes, and this toy gun is actually really strong.

I spun the toy revolver in my hand. Gotta say, it felt great.

I loaded it with cork bullets, then aimed at some pencils I'd lined up.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Every pencil fell—dead on.

My sharpshooting skills are insane—no wonder I was called the best shot in the universe in the original story.

I grinned, satisfied.

Suddenly, Doraemon came in, arms full of dorayaki.

He saw my shooting and had to admit, "Nobita, your aim's impressive!"

But then he turned serious. "Are you planning to use those against Galtite Mining?"

"Nobita, I can't let you—" Doraemon started, but before he could finish, a yellow head poked out of the drawer, red bow on the back.

"Big brother!" said the yellow figure.

"Dorami! Long time no see!" I greeted her with a smile.

"Nobita, you've changed a lot lately!" Dorami smiled back.

Then she got serious and turned to Doraemon. "Big brother, why haven't you gone for your checkup again, hmm?"

"Dorami, what are you doing here?"

"Oh, Dorami, there's a new bakery nearby with amazing bread!" Doraemon tried to change the subject, glancing around nervously.

He edged toward the desk, about to put on the Take-copter and escape through the window.

But Dorami saw right through him.

"I'm not falling for that again," she said, grabbing the red bell string on Doraemon's neck and yanking him back.

His blue head had barely reached the window before she pulled him in.

"Nobita, I'll borrow my brother for a while," Dorami said.

"No, don't! Let me go!" Doraemon pleaded.

Dorami ignored him, dragging him off.

Doraemon managed, "Nobita, don't go alone, wait for me—" before he disappeared into the drawer.

With a bang, the drawer closed. The room was quiet again.

Watching the brother-sister routine, I was stunned.

But this was the perfect time to head to Koya Koya.

I opened the tatami, unlocked the spaceship hatch, and climbed aboard.

The ship was already moving at high speed.

Through the window, I saw the universe outside.

This looked just like when I first met Roppuru.

I hurried to the cockpit—sure enough, Roppuru was there, struggling to keep the ship steady, with Chammy flying around like a mascot.

"Roppuru!" I called.

"Nobita, why are you here?" Roppuru was surprised, but happy.

Seeing I was alone, he looked a little disappointed, but also touched.

"Are you okay, Roppuru?" I asked.

"It's dangerous now. Hold on tight!" Roppuru said, focusing on the controls.

"They're coming!" Chammy warned—Galtite Mining's black warship was closing in.

Bang!

Our ship was grazed, and everything spun.

But Roppuru held the controls, swerving us away and fleeing.

He aimed for an asteroid belt to lose them.

But Galtite Mining's ship plowed right in, smashing the asteroids aside.

They were gaining fast.

Roppuru was panicking. "We can't outrun them!"

I knew it was time to act.

I'd been practicing my psychic shield—and now, a simple attack move too.

"Leave it to me!" I braced myself, focusing on the Galtite Mining ship closing in.

As it got close, I timed it—"Take this!"

I unleashed my psychic power. Invisible force shot from my mind.

"Shinra Tensei!"

Of course, in my head, I added a "Cheap version" in front. I mean, at my level, pushing a big rock is hard enough—no way it's the real thing. Maybe one day when I can pull down meteors, but for now, I'd only embarrass myself.

I pushed an asteroid into the Galtite Mining ship's engine.

Boom!

The Galtite Mining ship belched black smoke and started falling toward Koya Koya.

But I was exhausted, kneeling on one knee.

I'd never used so much psychic power at once—it wiped me out, my head spinning.

"Success! Amazing!" Chammy cheered, jumping for joy.

Roppuru stared, stunned—my power was incredible, even without that weird blue cat and Earth gadgets.

Earthlings are not to be underestimated!

Maybe… Koya Koya could really be saved?

But our own ship was in bad shape.

Roppuru quickly pushed his excitement aside.

"We've lost control. Emergency landing!" Roppuru called out.

"Hang tight!"

The ship lurched and began its descent toward Koya Koya.
