Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Shiryu

The forefront of the "New World."

Naval G-5 Branch.

A group of battle-hardened, fierce-looking Marines were gathered together, discussing things without reservation.

"Hoo? Headquarters is sending a new base commander over? What kind of guy is he?"

Most of them weren't wearing the standard white Marine uniforms, but simply displaying the number 5 or G-5 on some part of their bodies or clothing.

"Who cares? If he's a softie, we can just ignore him. After all, this is the New World! Softies should just go back to West Blue!"

"What if he's a really strong guy?" A voice, completely different from their wild tones, sounded from the side.

The person who spoke subconsciously replied, "If he's strong enough..."

"Enemy attack!"

Several of the more perceptive Marines reacted, using their weapons to support themselves as they quickly stood up.

At the entrance to the base, a tall figure appeared in their line of sight.

"Hey, you! This is Marine G-5 Branch! What are you doing!?"

The figure didn't move at all.

"Sengoku and Garp said that G-5's location is special, so this base's style is very similar to mine, but..."

Countless bolts of black lightning erupted from Dillon's body, the powerful force sending the Marines inside the base staggering.

"With your level of strength, I don't really agree. You trash, now, get your asses onto the drill ground and line up! Anyone who isn't there within 1 minute can just get lost."

"Y-You're the newly appointed base commander, Vice Admiral Dillon, appointed exceptionally by the Fleet Admiral?"

Dillon stood at the base entrance, raising an eyebrow at the person who asked the question: "Is there a problem? You have 50 seconds left."

The others exchanged glances, then rushed out in a chaotic swarm.

"Time's up!"

On the drill ground, the G-5 Marines had finished lining up, but their formation was truly appalling.

The crooked and twisted formation also had a "buzzing" sound of discussion coming from it.

Dillon walked down from the base entrance towards the drill ground, and the G-5 Marines instantly fell silent.

Their experience and knowledge from years of fighting in the New World were far beyond what guys from West Blue or Paradise could compare to.

This man, the newly appointed base commander, actually possessed Conqueror's Haki!

This was the qualification of a king!

But... what kind of king was this man going to be?

A "King of Marines"??

Dillon slowly walked down the steps, looking expressionlessly at the pirate-like Marines.

"I don't care about what you were like before, but from today onwards, my rules are the rules."

"Anyone who has objections can either hold them in, or get out. I'm done. Any objections?"

The powerful aura spread out, and the Marines in the area instinctively straightened their bodies.

"Gulp~"

Many Marines swallowed, but no one raised a question.

The G-5 Marines Branch, whether in appearance or style, was very similar to pirates. Although they believed in justice, they despised the style of the Headquarters and other branches, and their methods against pirates were particularly brutal.

They also believed more in the strong.

"Since there aren't any, the first task is to fix up the construction and sanitation for me." Dillon threw down a blueprint.

"You have two months to complete the task."

After saying that, Dillon's body flashed, disappearing on the spot.

The G-5 people were silent for a moment, then burst out into deafening cheers.

"OHHH!!! A strong guy has come, our days are going to get better now!!"

In the sky, Dillon paused when he heard their voices, then turned into a stream of light and flew away.

....

The side of Marineford, Impel Down.

"The recently popular Vice Admiral Dillon?" Magellan looked at Dillon in the reception room. "What brings you to Impel Down?"

"To ask for someone." Dillon didn't sit down, but stood in the center of the reception room.

Seeing Dillon's attitude, Magellan didn't ask much. The Marines often formulated targeted combat plans, needing to use prisoners as bait, or deciding to execute prisoners.

"Then... the procedures, Vice Admiral Dillon. Most of the prisoners in Impel Down are power users, although you are a newly promoted Vice Admiral, I believe you also know the rules."

Dillon shook his finger. "I'm not here to ask for prisoners; prisoners are of no use to me. I'm here to ask for someone else."

"Someone else..." Magellan stared at Dillon, thinking of the rumors about Dillon, as if understanding something: "I see, you want to transfer Shiryu? However, this also requires procedures."

"After I've met him, if he can satisfy me, the transfer order will be conveyed by Sengoku."

A solemn expression appeared on Magellan's hideous face: "If that's the case..."

Magellan pressed the intercom in the room: "Notify Shiryu to come to the top floor."

After turning off the intercom, Magellan's huge body scrutinized Dillon. After pondering for a moment, Magellan spoke: "Shiryu is too bloodthirsty, and once he starts killing, he doesn't distinguish between friend and foe. I hope you can control him better, rather than being influenced by him."

Dillon chuckled in response: "So your tolerance for him is also nearing its limit? If I hadn't come, you should have been preparing to take action against him, right?"

Later, Shiryu was indeed defeated by Magellan, then taken into custody and sentenced to death.

Neither of them spoke during the waiting time. Magellan looked serious. Dillon, on the other hand, recalled information about Shiryu in his mind.

There's no one to use!

The really strong guys in the Marines are basically Admirals or chief staff officers. Those so-called Marine Vice Admirals...

Tsk! They have a good reputation, but their actual combat power is extremely unstable, and they basically belonged under Kizaru or Akainu's command.

Kuzan, that slacker, the only guy he can command is that punching bag Smoker, who's still a weakling.

If he wanted to end the Great Pirate Era, he had to gather all the power he could use.

"Magellan, did you want to see me?" Shiryu, three meters tall and smoking a cigar, appeared in the reception room on the top floor.

"It's not me who wants to see you, it's this man, the G-5 Branch Base Commander, newly appointed Marine Vice Admiral Dillon." Magellan looked at Dillon, then looked at Shiryu, and fell silent.

He also didn't fully approve of the rumors about Dillon.

"Oh? Rumors have it that this new Vice Admiral's combat power isn't inferior to an Admiral?" Shiryu spat out thick smoke, scrutinizing Dillon: "What do you want with me?"

Dillon slowly drew Shura, Magellan's pupils shrank, and Shiryu smiled at the door.

"After I've verified your strength, we'll talk about other things."

The moment Shura was drawn, the black and red blade exposed to the air caused the huge reception room to feel as if the air had been sucked out of it.

Shiryu raised an eyebrow. This aura...

It was more than just a wild beast, it was simply a demon!

"Interesting..."

"If you get killed, just consider it Magellan carrying out your sentence in advance." Dillon flicked the blade.

Shiryu didn't back down at all, but instead said excitedly, "If I kill you, I can only defect, but... that's really exciting!"

Ding!

Two black shadows flashed in the reception room, and Raiu and Shura were pressed together.

"What terrifying power, and the strength of this Haki!" Shiryu rotated the cigar in his mouth, his eyes glowing red.

"If that's all you've got, Shiryu, I won't be satisfied!" Dillon tensed his arm, black Conqueror's Haki twining along Shura's hilt.

"Of course not, I... it's been a long time since I was this excited!"

Shiryu also tensed his arm, dark red energy also climbing up Raiu's blade along his arm.

"Rain Slash!"

"That's more like it, Shiryu!"

The black Conqueror's Haki instantly erupted, and the blades that were originally pressed together gradually separated.

In Shiryu's astonished gaze, Raiu trembled for a while before finally being unable to withstand it, and was bounced backwards.

Shiryu's body was also sent flying backwards by the force transmitted from the blade.

Shiryu managed to stabilize himself after retreating several meters.

"What kind of power is this... Conqueror's Haki can also be used as coating?" Shiryu's eyes flashed red: "This world is really exciting!"

"Come with me, Shiryu, to the New World. There are plenty of people for you to kill."

Raiu returned to its sheath, and the red light in Shiryu's eyes gradually dissipated: "As you wish, Commander."
