Chapter 379 - Chapter 379: Fishing for Trophies

Axis's eyes lit up upon hearing this.

Instead of scouring the universe to find Trazyn the Infinite, it would be far better to have the Necron come to him. This was indeed a brilliant solution.

What did Trazyn the Infinite desire? Naturally, he coveted all manner of rare, bizarre, and immensely powerful collectibles.

Axis possessed these things in abundance. Setting aside the Primarchs for a moment, Axis himself was sufficient to attract the attention of a certain space-faring collector.

"Axis, we can handle it this way," Kasha suggested. "The footage of your recent battle has already been recorded by the ship. We can remotely transmit the combat data to other Necron Overlords. Given Trazyn the Infinite's personality, he will definitely take note of such anomalies. Then, we simply have to wait for him to take the bait."

"Yes. The method you proposed is excellent. Let us proceed as you suggested," Axis nodded, agreeing with Kasha's plan.

The two Kasha's exchanged smiles and high-fived each other.

Axis quickly retrieved the surveillance footage from the ship and processed the images simply.

Using the Necron communication device before him, he transmitted the data. It was a full-spectrum broadcast sent without any encryption. Any Necron Overlord who received the signal could access it freely.

The signal containing images of Axis's combat propagated at speeds thousands of times faster than light. Within a few thousand light-years, nearly every Necron Overlord received the signal.

They witnessed a scene that shocked them to their core. A seemingly ordinary human possessed power rivalling that of the C'tan, capable of annihilating a fleet in the void and possessing physical strength sufficient to match a Necron army.

For a moment, the Necrons who received the message were pale with shock, completely unable to comprehend what this entity was.

However, most Phaeron and Overlords of the Necron Dynasties chose not to deploy their ships. It had nothing to do with them. Within the Necron Dynasties, there were plenty of internal affairs yet to be settled, so they had no time to meddle in other matters.

Yet, this intelligence attracted the attention of two specific Necron Overlords. One was Anrakyr the Traveller, and the other was Trazyn the Infinite, who was scouring the galaxy for precious collectibles.

Anrakyr the Traveller noticed the footage because the location of Axis's battle was the very same Tomb World of Zarathusa, an Overlord of the Mephrit Dynasty, which Anrakyr had just departed.

Almost without hesitation, Anrakyr the Traveller ordered his subordinates to turn the fleet around and head toward the direction of Zarathusa's Tomb World.

He had just exacted a tithe of one-tenth of the Overlord's wealth and army, so naturally, he felt obligated to protect the other party's safety. Now that the Tomb World was under threat again, Anrakyr felt it was his responsibility to assist.

This was the code he lived by while sailing the galaxy.

If any Necron Dynasty's Tomb World came under attack, he would go to their aid without looking back.

Trazyn the Infinite, on the other hand, noticed Axis's combat methods.

"Various energy attacks. Is it the power of the Warp? It does not feel like it. It isn't the power of the Imaterium, but seems more like forces from the physical universe. Could it be that this universe has gestated another C'tan?" Trazyn fell into deep thought as he watched the images on the screen.

Was this not a perfect collectible? An entity possessing such power was incredibly precious. It had to be placed within his solemn galleries for future generations to admire.

Almost instantly, Trazyn made a decision and immediately controlled a surrogate body to head toward Axis's location.

As a thief famous throughout the entire galaxy, he knew the value of self-preservation.

Therefore, the body he used for every excursion was never his original form. His true body remained hidden within his own Tomb World. He utilized methods to create surrogates or simply used overwhelming data to seize the bodies of other Necrons.

This was precisely why he had such a notorious reputation among the Necron communities.

Axis, Kasha, and the others did not wait long. More than two months later, a massive fleet arrived in the sector where Axis was waiting.

The arrival was Anrakyr the Traveller. Unfortunately, this fellow was not Axis's target.

But it did not matter. Axis was now one hundred percent certain that Trazyn the Infinite was watching this place.

This Necron Overlord named Anrakyr likely held C'tan Shards in his possession as well, which Axis could conveniently seize.

Axis Fleet, edge of the Gateway to the Underworld system.

Alarms shrieked, shattering the silence of the bridge.

"Detecting large-scale hyperspace transition signals! Energy signatures... Confirmed! It is a Necron fleet. Massive scale. Leading flagship identified!! It is Anrakyr the Traveller!" The voice of the ship's sensor officer carried a trace of terror.

Outside the viewports, in the cold void, countless twisted green lights emerged like torn wounds.

One after another, strange ships that looked as though they were constructed from tomb sarcophagi and spines leaped out of hyperspace.

The massive pyramidal flagship, the Eternal Traveller, drifted like a death star, radiating a cold aura of demise.

"He came as expected, but it is not the guy we were waiting for," Axis said, standing at the forefront of the bridge with his arms crossed.

"But this is fine. It is a good chance to stretch my muscles. Sanguinius, leave this to me. Kasha, hold the command center and prevent any accidents."

Sanguinius folded his massive wings slightly and nodded. "Take your time playing, Axis. I will watch your back."

Although Necron Overlords were powerful, they were insufficient before Axis.

"Watch the show!" Before Axis finished speaking, golden ki erupted around him, igniting within the bridge like a supernova.

A violent shockwave of energy blasted upward as he directly engaged Super Saiyan mode. In the next second, he transformed into a golden comet that tore through the curtain of the universe, slamming brazenly into the densest cluster of the Necron fleet.

The cosmic battlefield boiled instantly.

Axis's figure dragged countless afterimages through the void. His speed was so great that the automated targeting systems of the Necron ships failed completely.

He ignored the rain-dense Gauss Flayer fire. Those deadly beams, capable of vaporizing Space Marine power armor instantly, vanished silently like melting snow the moment they touched the solid layer of golden ki around his body.

"Destroy it!" Anrakyr's cold voice echoed through the Necron command network.

The main cannon of a massive Necron Cairn-class Tomb Ship charged. A doom-laden beam of green light, potent enough to pierce a small planet, locked onto Axis like a spear of divine punishment.

Axis opened the five fingers of his right hand, palm facing forward.

Boom!

A golden energy wave, several times thicker than his own body, roared out and collided head-on with the Necron doom beam. There was no deadlock, no spreading shockwave from an explosion. The golden blast penetrated the doom beam like a red-hot iron through butter, instantly annihilating and swallowing the attack. With undiminished momentum, it slammed ruthlessly into the prow of the massive Tomb Ship.

The incredibly durable Necrodermis armor was like paper before absolute power. The prow of the ship was instantly vaporized, leaving a terrifying hole hundreds of meters in diameter.

The internal energy core detonated. In a chain reaction, the entire giant vessel turned into a fleeting, dazzling ball of green fire in the silent universe, sending countless metal fragments flying like deadly hail.

Axis's figure did not pause.

He moved like a golden reaper weaving through the Necron fleet. Every punch he threw carried a fist of wind that tore through space, effortlessly blasting the smaller Necron Scythe ships apart in mid-flight.

With every kick, shockwaves of violent Ki spread out like ripples, vibrating the shields and hulls of surrounding Necron ships into dust.

It was like a tiger among sheep.

Wherever he passed, there were only flashes of destruction and the silent wailing of metal.

Watching his fleet being dismantled like toys before Axis, the green light in Anrakyr's eye sockets flickered violently, filled with unprecedented gravity and a trace of resolve.

He had underestimated the power of this human. This was no mortal being. He had to use his trump card.

"Activate the 'Star Cage'! Release the 'Voracious Shadow'!" Anrakyr issued the cold command.

At the base of the pyramidal flagship, a massive metal cage slowly opened.

A shadow composed of pure energy, its form constantly twisting and changing, rushed out of the cage. It had no fixed shape, appearing at times like churning nebulas and at others like a greedy maw. Its core flickered with a heart-palpitating darkness that seemed capable of swallowing all light and heat.

Axis was no stranger to the Star Gods of this universe, so he knew exactly how to deal with these monsters.

He threw a fierce punch.

Rumble!

The cosmic space seemed to cave in from the blow. The golden energy of destruction collided violently with the swallowing shadow of the C'tan Shard.

A terrifying shockwave spread out spherically, instantly tearing several unlucky nearby Necron ships into their most basic particles.

The C'tan Shard let out a painful psychic scream as the torrent of shadow was forcibly dispersed, its form becoming even more unstable.

To lure a certain fish, Axis intentionally held back this time, making it appear as if he and the C'tan Shard were fighting evenly.

Just as Axis was fully engaged in resisting the C'tan Shard, the viper hiding in the dark made his move.

Without any warning, a phase energy beam, almost invisible to the naked eye and twisting the light around it, shot out silently. It aimed straight for Axis.

This was a binding ray. Simultaneously, Trazyn's surrogate activated his signature trick: a Stasis Trap.

A bizarre temporal field instantly shrouded the space around Axis, attempting to slow his time flow to an infinite crawl. Even if it was only for a fraction of a second, it would be enough for the phase transmission beam to capture him.

A smile appeared at the corner of Axis's mouth. The fish had taken the bait.
