Chapter 2 - Chapter 002

Kiara could no longer cry, she was exhausted, and had to do something about the discovery. She cleaned her face and made her way out of the room. Pushing the door open, she acted normal, walking towards the bed to relax.

After everything she had heard, she began to doubt if the love they had shared all these years had ever been real. Just a few months after their wedding, he had introduced her as the housemaid, stating that he didn't want her to do anything in the house.

Kiara had thought this was a sign of how much he cherished her, not knowing it was all planned, and that the maid was actually his girlfriend. But for how long have they been dating? She wondered painstakingly.

The thought consumed her, but she pretended not to be bothered to avoid causing herself more pain. She was getting discharged soon and would have to face her husband. She needed to be prepared and act like nothing is wrong.

She hadn't been with her husband for a while, and she needed to be romantic when she gets home, especially since the doctor had already advised her to be intimate with him.

Just then, the door to the room pushed open, and the nurse she had spoken with earlier before she went looking for her maid marched in, carrying a file. Behind her was the doctor she had met on her way to the stairs.

"Mrs. Kiara, I heard from the doctor that you're getting discharged." The nurse said as she stood next to her bed.

Kiara let out a small muffled laugh, her gaze traveling down to the doctor, who had a wide grin on her face. They had been good to her throughout her stay at the hospital, and she couldn't be more grateful than she was at that moment.

"She has to go home. She's fully recovered, her husband needs her company." The doctor responded. At the mention of her husband, a sharp pain pierced Kiara's heart.

The discovery from earlier rushed back into her mind, causing her more anguish and pain.

"I will miss you. It was a great time with you at the hospital." She admitted. Despite everything, her time at the hospital had been comforting.

The doctor, on the other hand, couldn't deny it. She bobbed her head in response, acknowledging Kiara's words.

"I will definitely miss you guys, and I'll be sure to come around." Kiara added, patting the doctor's hand.

Amidst their conversation, the door pushed open, and the maid marched inside.

"I'm sorry for interrupting. I'll just come back."

"It's fine, I'm getting discharged." Kiara announced. "I'll need you to do some things for me before I get home."

"Alright. But aren't we supposed to leave together?" The maid asked.

"No, I'll meet you at home. Just get me some ingredients, I'll be making my husband's favorite."

"Someone is about to get down with it." The doctor teased, making everyone giggle except the maid.

An hour later, Kiara was discharged and ready to leave the hospital. She turned toward the door, making her way to the parking lot. Once outside, she hailed a cab and hopped in, giving the driver directions.

While in the cab, she reached out to her husband and shared the news to him. He didn't sound particularly pleased, but Kiara didn't take it to heart.

She had already realized that the love he had for her was fake, nothing he did could amaze her anymore.

After dropping her phone, she focused her gaze on the road as the drive continued. A few minutes later, they arrived, and the cab parked outside her house.

She paid the driver and turned toward the gate. Staring at it for a few moments, she sighed, preparing herself for whatever comes next.

Walking into the house, she found the maid in the living room.

"Welcome, ma'am!" The maid greeted, smiling from ear to ear. It looked genuine, but Kaira knew better, she knew what the maid had been doing with her husband.

"I'll quickly freshen up and come downstairs." She informed her before proceeding up the stairs.

She made sure to do everything within the next thirty minutes before making her way back to the living room.

Striding into the room, she didn't find the maid there and proceeded to the kitchen. There she found her, already making dinner.

Kiara felt a surge of irritation, especially since she knew something was going on with her husband.

She had told her she would be cooking, so why was she in the kitchen? She had just come back and wanted to prepare a meal for her husband, so why was the maid doing it instead?

She forced a smile on her face, even though she was hurting, and proceeded into the room.

"You're already on it?" She asked.

"Yes, the boss will be back soon, and you were taking longer to come out, so I had to get started." The maid replied.

The boss will be coming soon? How did she know? Kiara wondered but chose not to dwell on it. She had called him, but he hadn't mentioned that he would be coming home soon.

"It's okay. I'll take over. You can help me set the dining table and make some apple juice."

The maid nodded, turned toward the dining room while Kiara took over. She chopped tomatoes, onions before moving on to frying some chickens.

Once she was done, she poured the food in the cooler, and discreetly adding a substance to the one left for the maid.

The maid returned and was asked to take the food to the dining room. A few minutes later, Kiara finished up, just in time for her husband's arrival.

"Hey! Welcome back!" She said, pulling him in for a warm hug.

"I'm sorry I couldn't come pick you from the hospital." He responded, pulling away from the embrace.

"It's fine. I made dinner, you should freshen up before eating."

"Don't tell me you made dinner? What happened to the maid? Why did she let you into the kitchen?" He sounded pissed, his expression scorned.

"It's okay. I insisted on making dinner. Besides, I found her already cooking before I took over, so it's fine. You don't have to raise your voice at her."

He sighed and turned toward the stairs.

A few minutes later, he returned. Once they were seated, she served him, and he immediately began eating.

"You should join us. Go get some food from the kitchen." Kiara insisted, and the maid left without hesitation.

The maid returned and sat down, digging into her meal.

Kiara waited for her to take a few bites before clearing her throat.

"Anderson, how long have you been sleeping with the maid?" She rushed out.
