Reincarnated as a Fisherman and a Dad Chapter 124
When Maya heard that, she smiled lightly. She knew that Minda was praising her children's appearance and acknowledging their inherited charm. Although Maya was a little sad that her children didn't inherit their father's lovely ocean eyes that she had always admired, it didn't change how much she loved the twins.
Maya affectionately kissed them again, looking at their crimson eyes that sparkled vividly. Yeah, her children were going to grow up handsome and beautiful, with features that would surely stand out.
As Maya and her friends conversed, the last group of guests arrived. Their arrival caused a commotion, immediately drawing everyone's attention.
Just a few minutes earlier, Karlos's friends had been talking about rich people who visited the kubo in sports cars, speculating about their identities.
Now, the people they were talking about had arrived, and they were indeed driving sports cars, confirming some rumor earlier.
Two sports cars entered the villa, and Foster opened the gate for them. On top of that, two mini trucks followed, causing the crowd to widen their eyes in shock.
The drivers of the mini trucks opened the cargo and unloaded a large number of items. They had porters who helped carry cartons of toys for the twins and gifts for the guests. The gifts consisted of wine worth a few thousand pesos and a basket of fruits for each family.
It was a shocking event. The guests hadn't expected two sports cars and two mini trucks to show up, delivering tons of birthday gifts for the twins, along with take-home gifts for everyone else.
When the children saw the toys being brought out, they couldn't help but feel jealous. Their eyes followed the boxes longingly. They wished they would get a truckload of toys in their birthdays.
"Sir, where should we take these gifts?"
"Take the toys to the house. The wine bottles and fruits should go to the annex."
The drivers and porters worked efficiently.
"This… you brought a lot of stuff," Karlos said as he approached Larry and Roman, his voice filled with disbelief.
Larry laughed and hugged Karlos warmly.
"Of course I brought a lot of stuff. I'm the godfather, after all. Right, Roman?" Larry turned to Roman and grinned proudly.
The businessman nodded in agreement.
"He's right. In fact, I feel like these aren't enough. I wanted to give more."
"No, no, this is enough. You don't have to spend more," Karlos quickly cut him off, afraid that more trucks might show up.
The two rich men wore sunglasses as they walked toward the annex, standing out effortlessly.
The ordinary guests murmured among themselves, watching the two with curiosity. For Roman, today was an occasion the twins should celebrate happily. That was why he bought them so many toys without overthinking the cost. He didn't know what else to buy, so he simply bought a lot of toys. For some reason, he wanted to take this event seriously.
As for Larry, he was very happy because he didn't have to hide anymore like last time. He brought his sports car without restraint. When he heard from Roman that he would bring a truckload of gifts, Larry didn't want to lose out. The feud between the Araneto and the Lang family had reached its peak, with the Lang family losing. So far, four members of the Lang family had been found dead, floating in the sea, while some were still missing.
The Lang family had opened Pandora's box by trying to kill Larry. They should have been prepared for retaliation.
Larry and Roman sat at the table reserved for them.
"My brother couldn't attend today. He's very busy. But he brought gifts, the ones with golden wrappers are from him."
"Thank you, Larry," Karlos said.
Their entire interaction was witnessed by the guests, some of whom watched with curious gazes. Murmurs spread as people speculated about Karlos's relationship with these rich men.
"So where are the birthday celebrants?"
"They're with their mom," Karlos replied, pointing at Maya, who was seated with her college friends.
"They're growing well and healthy," Larry said, making Karlos smile proudly.
"Yeah, they really are," Karlos said as he looked at his children affectionately. He was happy that they were healthy and happy.
Many people watched them talk, and some even listened closely, unable to look away. The guests knew about Maya and her background, her family had a solid reputation in town. However, Karlos was different. He was a newcomer, and most people didn't know his story. Some believed he was from Maynila and returned to the province after failing college. Others said he had relatives in Evitac. Yet none of his relatives were present today.
Suddenly, Roman took off his sunglasses, which caused gasps among the guests.
"I knew it! Karlos is from a rich family! Look at them, they're brothers!"
Brandon's mother, Carmine, exclaimed in shock. She couldn't believe it. She was a well-known gossiper in the neighborhood and believed she knew everyone's story.
"My friends will be shocked when I tell them this juicy story."
"Mom, what are you talking about? This isn't something you should spread. We don't know the real story," Brandon reprimanded her, though he was also stunned. He was friends with Karlos and thought he knew him well.
"M-Maya, that guy… is he Karlos's older brother? If not for the age difference, I'd think they were twins. They look so similar," Luz stuttered. No wonder Karlos and Maya lived in a villa, his family was rich! Everything suddenly made sense to her.
"Him? That's Roman. He's just friends with my husband," Maya answered calmly.
Even though almost every guest came to the same conclusion, Maya, Karlos, and Roman shared a completely different opinion.
'Karlos and Roman look alike? Nope, I don't believe that. My husband is more handsome,' Maya thought.
At this point, no one could convince them otherwise, except for a DNA test, which would never happen because they had no intention of doing one.
Luz hid her cold gaze as she looked at Maya. She believed Maya was lying. It felt to her like Maya was hiding the fact that her husband came from a rich family.
'This bitch… no wonder she's not affected by Janice's salary. She doesn't need to be. She has a rich husband and doesn't have to work. She can relax all she wants while I struggle,' Luz gritted her teeth in jealousy.
She was just a simple elementary school teacher, earning a basic salary of only 9,000 pesos a month, barely enough to survive. If not for the incentives given to public workers, she might have needed to take another job just to get by.
