Chapter 102 - Chapter 102

Reincarnated as a Fisherman and a Dad Chapter 102

Weeks passed after leaving their kubo and the family had completely adjusted to their lives in the villa. Karlos's earnings were steady, averaging 20,000 pesos per day. It was a welcoming amount that Maya and Karlos appreciated because it gave them a sense of security.

Karlos also talked to Brandon about taking a day off on Saturday, and Brandon readily agreed. They had been working hard these past few weeks, almost nonstop. He needed some time to rest. That Saturday, his day off, he wanted to treat his parents in a nice eatery, something cozy and memorable, and buy them some stuff such as clothes. He also wanted to buy his parents a brand-new television to entertain them and help them pass the time. His parents had gotten nothing in their lives as they were old, and watching TV might give them another form of relaxation.

However, while the family was doing great, Maya couldn't help but glare at the bitch maid who was acting strange.

One time, when Karlos returned after his sail, Claire welcomed him with a towel and cold, refreshing water as if she had been waiting deliberately. Karlos was confused, but he accepted the goodwill nonetheless... Maya reprimanded Karlos in their bedroom with clear irritation. If Claire did that again, she would receive a hard slap in the face.

"I don't want you to accept any drinks from that woman."

"Alright." Karlos easily agreed. He was not stupid, and he trusted Maya's judgment completely. He didn't know why Maya hated Claire, but Karlos would side with his wife no matter what.

Since then, Karlos had avoided the maid as much as possible. He didn't look at her or talk to her. He kept his distance and stayed in the room most of the time to avoid unnecessary trouble.

Claire was frustrated and realized that her tricks were not working, even if she tried to act sweet and harmless. She tried to get closer to the twins instead, thinking she could win them over. She was delusional and believed that she had a chance. It was ridiculous, but she didn't know that. Well, as long as money was the topic, people would do everything.

For Claire, she believed that Karlos was the fastest way to become rich... She actually had a point, considering that Karlos was earning huge money even by fisherman standards.

Unlike Karlos, who was comfortable staying in the room most of the day, the twins wanted to explore because they were at that curious, energetic age. Hence, Maya didn't have a choice but to let them play outside. She made sure that they stayed in the annex, protected by shade against the sun, and monitored them most of the time. The annex was an open space with no partition, although it had a roof, allowing the breeze to flow freely, perfect for the kids to play and burn off their energy.

The kids were active from 8 to 11 a.m., running around, laughing, and chasing each other. Karlos arrived around this time, so the twins always greeted him with excitement.

Claire failed to talk to the twins because Maya was always around to watch over them. And even when Claire had a chance to talk to them, Iñigo was the type of kid who didn't trust people easily. One time, she tried to give them candies. Arabella was so excited and tried to approach Claire, but Iñigo prevented her. He frowned at Claire, he didn't know this woman and he didn't like her vibe. He called out to his mother, and Maya immediately returned with milk bottles. Their mother had prepared drinks for them, so she was gone for a few minutes.

When Maya returned and found Claire, she glared at the woman. If not for being a guest in the villa, Maya might have slapped the woman for her bad intentions.

Naturally, the twins forgot that interaction once they were drinking milk.

Anyway, a lot of things happened in a week.

...

...

...

Karlos was whistling while waiting for the yacht. He didn't bring anything today because Roman told him that all the fishing equipment was already prepared, making things easier for him.

He pulled out his phone and checked the time, it was 9 a.m. The yacht would show up in a few minutes, and he mentally prepared himself for the sail.

Karlos smirked and recalled what had happened earlier, a memory that made him feel warm. The twins were surprised and happy when they found their father in bed when they woke up. Most of the time, Karlos was gone whenever they woke up, and it was a mystery that they couldn't understand. They were still too young to grasp work schedules. For them, it became the norm that their father would arrive at the gate while they were playing in the annex. That was how they understood it.

So when they found Karlos in the bed, sleeping next to them, the twins were happy and slapped his face and shoulder playfully, their version of a morning greeting. They didn't understand it, but they were happy that their father was in bed right in the morning because it meant more time with him.

Karlos eventually woke up and played with them before taking his leave... It was the first time they saw Karlos leave from the gate, and the twins couldn't control their emotions and cried.

"Papa!"

"Papa, no. Don't go!"

They were hugging his legs as they didn't want him to leave. Karlos realized that the twins thought he wouldn't return again because he was going to leave. He patted their heads, despite being heartbroken at seeing them cry. He comforted them and promised that he would bring them treats... It seemed that he had to buy something to satisfy Arabella and Iñigo.

Wiping their tears, he convinced them that he would return later with treats. As for what kind of treats it would be, Karlos also had no idea.

With teary eyes and sniffing their snots, Arabella and Iñigo waved their hands and yelled "bye bye" at Karlos. They were still sad but trying to be brave. Maya couldn't help but chuckle at their reactions.

"Such an overreaction," she muttered. She was sad that her children were sad, but she was also happy that Arabella and Iñigo loved their father and they couldn't fathom the idea of Karlos disappearing. The kids still couldn't understand their feelings, but they were clear and pure.

Reluctantly, Karlos waved his hand and closed the gate, leaving the twins.

Once Karlos was gone, the twins cried out loud. Maya had to hug and comfort them, stroking their backs gently. Just like them, Maya was also reluctant to let Karlos leave, although reality was harsh and the pillar of the home had to work to provide for them.

"Hush, hush, Papa will be back later. Don't cry. Just like always, he will arrive at the gate."

"Stay!" Iñigo said with conviction, pointing at the annex floor.

"Yesh!"

"You want to stay here and wait for Papa's return?"

"Yesh!"

The twins decided that they would stay in the annex and wait for Karlos's return.
