Chapter 3 - Kakashi Hatake

Kakashi Hatake, known as the "Copy Ninja," was one of Konoha's most skilled and mysterious shinobi. Born to Sakumo Hatake, a revered but disgraced ninja, Kakashi grew up in the shadow of his father's tragic fall. Sakumo took his own life after being vilified for abandoning a mission to save comrades, instilling in young Kakashi a strict adherence to rules and success above emotion.

Kakashi became a prodigy, graduating from the Ninja Academy at age 5, becoming a Chūnin at 6, and a Jonin by 13. He was assigned to a team with Obito Uchiha and Rin Nohara under Minato Namikaze. During the Third Great Ninja War, Kakashi was appointed team leader. On a mission, Obito was crushed under a boulder and, believing he was dying, gave Kakashi his Sharingan. That event, followed by Rin's death at Kakashi's own hand (a tragedy orchestrated by Madara), traumatized Kakashi deeply and shaped his cold, distant demeanor.

Kakashi joined the ANBU Black Ops and became known for his elite skills and calm ruthlessness. However, his time in ANBU only deepened his emotional scars. Eventually, the Third Hokage moved him out of ANBU and made him a Jonin instructor, hoping to restore Kakashi's humanity. It was with Team 7—Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura—that Kakashi began to heal.

Initially strict and unimpressed by his new students, Kakashi taught them an essential lesson: "Those who break the rules are scum, but those who abandon their friends are worse than scum." This belief, inherited from Obito, became central to his growth. As Team 7 developed, Kakashi grew closer to Naruto and Sasuke, seeing his past mirrored in their struggles. He tried his best to guide Sasuke away from revenge, but ultimately failed to prevent his defection.

Throughout Naruto's journey, Kakashi played a vital role—as a mentor, a protector, and a quiet guardian of Konoha. He fought in the Fourth Great Ninja War, even battling against his former teammate, Obito. In their emotional confrontation, Kakashi helped Obito remember who he was and inspired his redemption.

Kakashi's resolve reached its peak when Obito, before dying, gave him both Sharingan eyes temporarily, allowing Kakashi to use Susanoo and aid Naruto and Sasuke in defeating Kaguya. After the war, Kakashi became the Sixth Hokage, leading the village during its transition into a peaceful era. Though he lacked Naruto's charisma or drive, Kakashi was a wise and steady leader who ensured stability.

After stepping down as Hokage, Kakashi remained a respected elder, offering guidance when needed but enjoying a quieter life. His journey from a lonely, rule-bound child to a compassionate and wise leader is one of steady growth and deep emotional healing.

Kakashi Hatake's life was defined by loss, duty, and redemption. Though haunted by his past, he chose to honor his fallen friends by living with integrity and heart. In doing so, he became one of the most beloved and respected figures in the shinobi world.
