Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: Choyun

Present

Northwest of Gangbuk, Rooftop of North Gangbuk High School.

The sun cast a pale orange glow across the rooftop of North Gangbuk High as the late afternoon wind swept gently through the open windows, On the top floor, away from the noise of students below, a lone boy sat quietly on a wooden bench near the rooftop door, flipping through the worn pages of a thick novel.

This was Choyun, a quiet student, often called a nerd by others.

But peace doesn't last long in North Gangbuk High.

The rooftop door suddenly burst open with a bang, slamming against the wall as a group of boys strode in, their laughter loud and obnoxious, They were around Choyun's age, 16 or 17, but the energy they carried was cocky.

"Look, it's the nerd," one of them pointing mockingly.

Another boy stepped into view, clearly the leader, He had a cocky smirk, dyed blonde hair, and the kind of smugness that comes from never being told 'no.'

He Walked over to Choyun, cracking his knuckles "Choyun, Didn't I tell you yesterday to do my homework? What, you forget it again?"

Before Choyun could react, the bully grabbed him by the collar and punched him straight in the face.

Thwack!

Choyun hit the ground hard, his book falling from his lap, pages fluttering open A fresh bruise bloomed across his cheek, but he didn't make a sound, He simply sat there, eyes Opened, lips sealed.

The bully wasn't done.

"You little bastard," he hissed, yanking Choyun up by his hair and forcing his face close "I told you not to look at me like that Keep your eyes down."

Another punch landed.

Thump!

Blood trickled from Choyun's lip, but still, no complaint, Nothing Just quiet defiance in the way he endured it.

Then, a voice cut through.

"Man, my first crew duty is already starting like this?" the voice said.

Everyone turned around, eyes widening instantly Even the bully's confident grin slipped.

Standing at the rooftop entrance, arms tucked casually in his coat pockets, stood a tall, lean boy with long black hair and golden-brown eyes.

"U… Uijin Gyeong." the bully stammered.

Uijin ignored the stares and walked forward calmly, stopping beside the bloodied Choyun on the ground.

"I came here to recruit you," Uijin said, glancing down at Choyun "My boss wants you in our crew."

The group went dead silent.

Choyun blinked Even in his current state, he was surprised "Your.. boss?"

Uijin gave a slow nod.

Choyun wiped the blood from his lip and spoke "If you want me to join, then beat the shit out of these guys first."

Even Uijin blinked at that A low chuckle escaped his lips "Didn't expect that, but alright."

He turned around.

Before the leader of the gang could even protest, Uijin's fist had already launched.

BAM!

The bully was sent flying backwards like a ragdoll, crashing into the rooftop door.

boys shouted "He's just one guy, He doesn't have his army! GET HIM!"

The rest of the group charged.

It was pointless.

THUD!

One got slammed into a pipe.

CRACK!

Another was flipped over Uijin's shoulder like a toy.

BAM!

A final uppercut knocked the last attacker cold, his body falling with a thump.

Seconds later, all of them were lying in a pile, groaning in pain, bruises blooming across their faces.

Uijin turned back to Choyun and extended a hand "Welcome to the crew."

Choyun stared at it, hesitated… then took it "Can I meet your boss?"

Uijin smirked "He's been waiting."

---

Uijin Gyeong Base

Sun-ho sat comfortably in a leather chair across from Choyun and Uijin Behind him stood 15 of Uijin's loyal men.

"Welcome to the crew, Choyun," Sun-ho said his voice calm "I know you're probably wondering why I chose you specifically."

Choyun nodded.

Sun-ho leaned back "I recognize potential You're sharp, Observant And smart in ways most people aren't Those are the types of people I want."

Uijin stood with arms crossed.

5 Minutes Later

Choyun still seemed skeptical "But, To conquer Seoul, don't we need way more than just brains, We need Super Strong People, What about business, influence?"

Sun-ho smirked.

Without a word, he stood up and walked over to a steel wall along the side of the room Everyone watched, unsure of what he was doing.

Then.

BAM!!!

With a single punch, Sun-ho shattered the steel wall, leaving behind a gaping hole.

The room went dead silent.

"Are you sure you're human?" Uijin muttered, sweat beading on his forehead.

Choyun didn't say anything, His mouth was slightly open.

Sun-ho Clean his hands off casually.

"As for business," he added, walking back to them and pulling out his phone, "I've already invested in several Korean sectors, and I got my own company, International Wealth Investment."

He turned the screen toward them, showing confidential documents.

Choyun's eyes widened "That's, That's insane."

Uijin let out a whistle.

Choyun finally gave a small grin "Okay, I'm in Glad to be part of the plan Leader."

Sun-ho nodded.

---

[Choyun's Pov]

I lay across my bed, staring up at the ceiling My body felt heavy, my mind heavier The events of today replayed over and over like some kind of fever dream.

A faint ding echoed inside my head, followed by a glowing window that hovered in front of me.

[Quest Window Activated]

I blinked.

Another line appeared.

[Would you like to begin the quest?]

I sat up on my elbows, staring at it "Is this… is this one of those systems? Like the ones I've only ever read about in novels?"

I clicking 'YES'.

[Initializing Quest System…]

[Once you complete a quest, you will receive a card, The quests will stop once you receive a God Card, After that, you will have the authority to make quests anytime you need to, and the system will reward you based on the difficulty of the quest.]

[Order of Cards: Bronze → Silver → Gold → Platinum → Diamond → Master → Challenger → God.]

I rubbed my temple "So it's literally a ranking system, like a game And the end goal is some kind of God Card?"

Before I could fully process it, another notification hit.

[Quest Completed.]

[Join the God Dogs Crew]

Reward: 2 Gold Cards, 2 Silver Cards, and 3 Bronze Cards.

"I already completed one? Just by joining the crew?"

"Well, that was easy."

With a thought, I summoned the cards They appeared in my eye like shiny collectibles in a gacha game, Two of them gleamed gold.

[Gold Card: Fanatic → Increases the damage dealt with every 4 consecutive hits.]

[Gold Card: Stats Peak → Reveals the opponent's stats (Cannot reveal if the opponent's stats are far superior to yours).]

I stared at them "Fanatic basically rewards me for going on the offensive, and Stats Peak, Knowing someone's strength before even throwing a punch, very Usefull.

This, could really change everything.

I whispered "Reveal all remaining cards."

The window shifted again, and the bronze and silver rewards appeared.

[Bronze Card: Dance → Basics of dancing.]

[Bronze Card: Improve Vision → Increases vision clarity, (Can be used once a day.) ]

[Bronze Card: Smell → Sense danger nearby, (Can be used once a day.) ]

[Silver Card: Boxing Jabs → Ability to throw a jab. ]

For a long moment, I just stared.

"Dance, Really? Out of everything I could've gotten."

"What l am supposed to do with that, Breakdance on my enemies?"

my attention went to the silver cards.

Boxing Jabs, Boxing Hook, Both marked with .

I tilted my head "F for beginner, I guess, Which means the more I practice, the higher it'll Rank."

I leaned back into my pillow, staring at the ceiling again, my mind racing.

"boxing, vision, danger sense, consecutive Four hit boosts, stat reveal, Pretty Usefull."

"Pretty interesting, First I get recruited into a crew, then this system shows up, My life really is about to change."
