Chapter 1 - Chapter One: Love Turned into Punishment

Lena Su had just stepped out of the bathroom when she was forcefully thrown onto the bed. The heavy scent of alcohol and the overpowering presence of a man enveloped her.

"Ethan, please… please don't do this… not today…"

As her nightgown was ripped away, she struggled desperately, crying out loud.

"Smack—!"

A stinging slap landed across her face, sending her reeling. Before she could react, Ethan was on top of her, pinning her down with a cruel sneer at her ear.

"Not today? Lena Su, what right do you have to choose today or any day?"

Her face turned pale as she stammered, "Ethan, I… I really…"

She couldn't tell the truth. She wasn't sure if Ethan would allow her to keep the baby once he found out she was pregnant.

Ethan's bloodshot eyes burned with fury. "Lena Su, don't pretend to be some chaste woman. It only disgusts me more."

No matter how she pleaded or resisted, Ethan was deaf to her cries. There were no gentle touches—only the brutal force of a beast, taking what he wanted without an ounce of mercy.

"It hurts… Ethan Mo, it hurts…"

Pain tore through her lower body as she clutched the bedsheets, crying and trembling, trying with all her might to endure his violent aggression.

In their two years of marriage, Ethan was always like this—like a sadist. She had never known pleasure, only endless torment and suffering.

"Hurt?" Ethan pressed a hand on the back of her neck, hissing into her ear, each word laced with hatred. "Do you think your pain compares to what my mother went through, being burned alive in a fire? Have you ever felt your skin being scorched inch by inch?"

"No! Ethan, it wasn't me! It wasn't…"

Her weak protests fell on deaf ears. The pain in her body only intensified, nearly robbing her of consciousness.

Lena Su lay like a ragdoll on the cold floor, lifeless. She had lost count of how many times Ethan had humiliated her like this. By now, she should be used to it—but every time, the pain tore at her heart.

To the outside world, she was the glamorous Mrs. Mo, living a life other women envied. But no one knew that behind closed doors, she lived worse than a prostitute.

"Take the morning-after pill. Then get the hell out."

Ethan's cold words cut through her like a blade. Her body trembled as she clutched her belly, refusing to move.

Her reaction made Ethan narrow his eyes, staring at her abdomen with suspicion.

When she noticed his gaze, Lena instinctively shrank toward the corner, trying to shield her belly. But he yanked her back with force and threw her to the floor.

A sharp pain twisted in her abdomen. She curled up, groaning in agony, blood trailing down her leg and dripping onto the floor—alarming and vivid.

Panic surged through her. Realizing what was happening, she covered her stomach tightly.

"Ethan, take me to the hospital! Please, save our baby…"

She stayed motionless, praying that keeping still would slow the bleeding.

When Ethan saw the blood on the floor, fury surged in his eyes.

"A baby? I made sure you took the pill every time. How could you be pregnant?"

He crouched down and grabbed her chin, forcing her to look at him. "You've got some nerve, Lena Su. Now you're trying to trap me? After killing my mother, you dare try to carry a Mo heir? Dream on."

The pain in her abdomen became unbearable. Sweat poured down her face, her skin turning deathly pale. She clutched his hand, whispering weakly, "Ethan, please believe me… I didn't set that fire…"

"Believe you? I believed you once. And that's why my mother is dead!"

His words were venomous. Then he kicked her hard.

The blow sent waves of pain through her body. She barely held on.

She had no excuse for his mother's death.

Two years ago, Ethan had asked her to look after his injured mother at the old Mo estate. A fire broke out unexpectedly. Lena tried to carry his mother out, but couldn't find an exit. To save her, Ethan's mother shoved her out a second-story window—sacrificing herself to the flames.

She truly was a sinner in Ethan's eyes.

Ethan grabbed her neck, rage distorting his face. His grip tightened as if trying to strangle her. "Lena Su, why wasn't it you who died in that fire?"

His words pierced her like icy knives. She bled from the heart.

She, too, wished she had died that day. If she had, maybe Ethan would still be the man who once loved her, held her tenderly, and called her his world.

Not this demon who hated and tormented her every day.

Lena no longer hoped he'd save their baby. She struggled, but his grip suddenly loosened.

Then came his chilling voice. "Strangling you would be too easy. You want to go to the hospital? Fine. I'll take you."

What was he planning?

The murderous look in his eyes made her shiver. She tried to run but couldn't escape his grip. He dragged her to the hospital by force.

Terror flooded her.

As the operating room doors swung open, she heard Ethan's cold, cruel command—

"Prepare the abortion immediately."
