Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Die

Evergreen Haven Hospital is a well-regarded healthcare facility located in a quiet, leafy suburb. The facility is dedicated to the treatment and well-being of elderly patients, including those who suffer from various mental illnesses.

The Psychiatric Ward at Evergreen Haven is a dedicated space for seniors with severe mental health conditions, such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depressive disorder. The atmosphere is one of careful management and therapeutic support, with a team of psychiatrists, psychologists, and psychiatric nurses providing individualized care plans.

Today is not the usual day. The morning sky is a deep shade of gray, heavy with clouds that release a steady drizzle over Evergreen Haven Hospital. The hospital's exterior, lit by soft, ambient lighting, glistens in the rain. The sound of raindrops tapping against the pavement and the muted glow of the streetlights create a somber, almost cinematic atmosphere.

As the hospital's automatic doors slide open, a striking figure steps out from a sleek, black luxury car that has just pulled up to the entrance. The girl, appearing to be in her twenties, is a vision of elegance and contrast against the dreary weather.

She is wearing a stunning red dress that clings to her figure, the fabric shimmering slightly under the streetlights despite the rain. The dress is sleeveless, with a modest neckline and a hem that falls just above her knees, allowing her to move with grace and confidence. Her long, dark hair is meticulously styled, now beginning to cling to her shoulders as the rain drizzles down.

On her feet, she wears matching red heels that click softly against the wet pavement as she strides purposefully toward the hospital entrance. Each step she takes, exudes a mix of determination and urgency, her heels punctuating the sound of the falling rain.

Arrival

As she steps out of the car, she takes a moment to look up at the hospital, a look of resolve on her face. Her bodyguard retrieves a small, black umbrella from the car, popping it open with a practiced motion to shield the lady from the rain.

"You can go now. I will text when I need you two."

The driver and the bodyguard, both middle-aged man in a crisp uniform, nods respectfully to her before driving away, leaving her standing alone for a brief moment.

She takes a deep breath and begins walking towards the entrance. The rain seems to intensify for a moment, bouncing off her umbrella and creating a soft, rhythmic sound that accompanies her footsteps. As she approaches the sliding doors, the warm, bright light from inside the hospital spills out, casting a welcoming glow on her as she steps inside.

Inside theHospital:

Once inside, she closes her umbrella and shakes off the excess water, her dress slightly damp but still immaculate. The hospital's lobby is quiet, the usual hustle and bustle subdued at this hour. She pauses for a moment, taking in the sterile, yet somehow comforting environment. The receptionist looks up, momentarily surprised by the girl's glamorous appearance amidst the usual crowd of patients and staff.

"You are here Ms. Sabrina." The receptionist known Sabrina as she is very famous in the country.

The girl approaches the reception desk with an air of calm authority, her red heels now making a softer sound against the polished floor tiles. She speaks in a clear, melodious voice, her words tinged with a sense of concern.

"I want to visit his room."

The receptionist nods, quickly understanding the gravity of her visit, and directs her to the appropriate nurse.

As she heads towards the elevator, her red dress and heels stand out against the neutral tones of the hospital. She attracts curious glances from a few staff members and patients, but her focus remains unwavering. The elevator doors open and she steps inside.

"This way Sabrina." the nurse said as she pointed the direction on their way to the room. The nurse does not call her Ms. as this is a way older to her. And Sabrina does not mind at all.

"He is calling your name for a long time." The nurse added.

"What is your name again?" Sabrina asked the nurse. This is the nurse who always assists her.

"Mandy." A smile shown to her reply.

Room 1615.

The nurse opened the door, revealing the back of a man sitting in a wheelchair.

It had been months since she last visited him.

"You have a visitor." the nurse said cheerfully to the man.

But the man did not respond. He continued to stare out the window at the trees swaying in the breeze. The nurse gently turned the wheelchair to face Sabrina, bringing the two face to face, catching each other's eyes.

"I will wait outside. I need to check on the other patients." Mandy said as she left the room, giving them privacy.

"Maria," the man said, his eyes lighting up as he saw Sabrina.

"Maria, what took you so long?" His voice was filled with joy.

Sabrina's eyes, however, were cold. He had never recognized her correctly. He always called her by "that" name. She stepped closer to him, her voice barely a whisper in his ear.

"I am not Maria."

"No, no, you are Maria," the man insisted, pulling her into a tight embrace. The man only recognizes this lady as Maria.

"I am Sabrina," she said coldly, breaking free from his grip. She looked directly into his eyes. "I am Sabrina, not Maria."

As the man heard her name, his behavior changed. His hands began to shake with anger. His teeth clenched, and he started to bite his lips.

"Sabrina?!" he spat, pushing her violently. He managed to pin her down.

"Sabrina should be dead like her mother!"

"You should die!"

His hands wrapped around Sabrina's neck, choking her as he repeatedly screamed.

"Die!"

"Die!"

At first, Sabrina tried to pull his hands away, clawing at his wrists with what little strength she had left. Her vision blurred, not just from the pressure on her throat, but from the confusion—how had it come to this? How could the man who once tucked her in at night now look at her with such cold hatred?

Panic surged through her chest, but it was quickly swallowed by a crushing sense of betrayal. Her strength faltered, not only from the lack of air but from the shattering realization that her own father wanted her dead.

Her father. The word echoed hollowly in her mind, like a bell tolling the end of something sacred.

She stopped fighting.

The weight of years—every birthday, every scraped knee he once kissed better—pressed down on her harder than his grip. Her hands slid limply from his arms as sobs wracked her body. Tears streamed down her face, mixing with the terror and sorrow that twisted her expression.

She wanted to scream, to ask him why, to beg for something—love, mercy, even just an explanation—but her voice had already been stolen by the pressure on her throat. All that came out were muffled gasps and broken sobs.

After all, she does not want to live.

Die

He chokes her as hard as he can, as she continues to cry crazily.

The commotion drew the attention of the nurses. Nurses immediately respond to it, making Nathaniel sees Sabrina's crying and laughing crazy. Nathaniel pulls the man off Sabrina. She remains laying on the floor, a mix of laughter and tears pouring from her, lost in the madness of the moment.
