Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 NARIKA

This time, I dreamed of my past in Hokkaido. What I remembered was my grandparents' wedding ceremony at the shrine. At that time, I only remembered playing with two girls: Narika and the girl in my dream. I couldn't clearly see who the girl behind Narika was. I looked closer, and suddenly...

"RINGGGGGG!"

That damn alarm clock woke me from my sweet dream. You worthless alarm clock! I'll throw you in the trash so you learn your lesson! Suddenly, something stirred next to me. When I looked, Narika was sleeping beside me, looking completely innocent. My first reaction was to scream because Narika was next to me. My second reaction was shock because Narika's PJ (pajamas) were open. My third reaction was disappointment because her chest was small... hehehehe, a little eye candy, I guess.

I looked at my cursed alarm clock; it was 9:15 AM. Luckily, it was a holiday, so I was free to do nothing. I could just go anywhere or surf the net at home. I quickly covered Narika again, but it was too late. Narika was already awake.

"Uh... huh?... this is...," Narika was half-conscious. "Uh... Ohayo... Narika...," I replied stupidly.

I knew that in situations like this, most girls would scream and throw pillows at me. Or scratch me mercilessly for being called a pervert. Or slap me repeatedly because of my slightly lewd face. But my prediction was wrong. To my surprise, Narika jumped towards me and hugged me happily.

"Na... Narika?!" "Hehe... Ohayo, Frank-chan."

I finally got up after Narika did. When I stepped out of my room, Husky immediately ran towards me. I instinctively petted his head and gave him food and water. Husky ate after I fed him. Then Subaru appeared behind me.

"Oh, Franky. You're awake?" "Ah, Subaru. Ohayo." "Don't call me Subaru. Call me as usual." "Uh... Ohayo, Suba-nee."

I finally called Subaru by the name Suba-nee, short for Subaru Oneesan (older sister). I even caught a glimpse of Suba-nee's incredibly "nyihoi" body. Her body was very mature. To the point where I unconsciously got a nosebleed. Damn it!

I quickly ran to the bathroom, bringing a change of clothes and a towel to shower while cleaning the blood flowing from my nose. Usually, my nosebleeds would fill a bottle cap, but this time, it filled half a glass. It was so much, and it was still flowing heavily. I finally stopped the nosebleed within five minutes. Then I continued with my shower. After I showered, Narika stood in front of me with a sullen face.

"Oh my goodness!! Osoi (You're slow), Frank-chan!!" "Gomen-gomen (Sorry, sorry), I was also doing 'ik-ok'."

Actually, I wasn't doing "ik-ok" at all; I was just dealing with my damn nosebleed that wouldn't stop. I finally let Narika enter the bathroom. And just like that, breakfast was already on the table for four people, but there were no side dishes yet. My stomach is quite complicated. In the morning, it rumbles and demands to be filled (well, of course!!). Strangely, in the afternoon, it doesn't rumble or feel hungry at all. So I eat dinner to substitute for lunch, followed by actual dinner. But on holidays, it's fine.

Finally, breakfast was served, this time a Hokkaido country-style breakfast. A Japan-style meal. I really missed grilled eel, miso shiru, and pickles. Everyone ate normally, but I was still ravenous like a wild lion. Everyone looked at me with strange stares.

"Thanks for the meal." "Sugoi... it's gone in an instant," Subaru was shocked.

My stomach was full; I clearly couldn't eat any more. Usually, I'd eat two or three plates. This time, one plate was enough to make me full. Not just Subaru, Haruna, and Narika. Even Husky was staring blankly at how fast I ate. I left the dining area to meditate.

I meditated as usual. My sweat poured faster than usual, understandable since it was midday and extremely hot, like being in an oven at 180 degrees Celsius. But I couldn't give up because of the heat. I had to endure this hot air. I heard something. Not a fly; I heard the sound of a door opening and footsteps. Suddenly, I also heard a jumping sound, then heard something fall from above me. I quickly dodged the falling object. It was a "Tousen" (a type of shuriken rod), and the one who threw it was Narika.

"Narika!! Are you trying to kill me with a Tousen!?" "Hehe... just testing you." "But seriously. If it hit my head, my head could split open."

Narika climbed down from where she launched the Tousen from above. I was already lucky I could dodge quickly.

"Ne, Frank-chan. Let's go out." "He? Doko da yo? (Where are we going?)" "Um... if possible, somewhere with a mall."

A mall, huh... Surabaya isn't like Singapore. Singapore is a city of shopping and health. In Surabaya, locations are far apart. So it's a bit difficult. But what can I do? I finally suggested the one closest to my house, GM, or Galaxy Mall. The atmosphere there was crowded and full of visitors. Narika and I were overwhelmed by the number of visitors in the mall. Unbeknownst to me, I saw my friends: Kwang, Budi, David and the gang (I'm too lazy to list them one by one, there were so many).

"Oh, Franky?" Kwang was surprised. "Yo, what are you guys up to?" I replied. "Just hanging out, waiting for the cinema," Kwang answered. "Hooo, waiting for the cinema, huh. What are you watching?" I asked. "Adult movie!! Kids aren't allowed!!" David answered quickly. "DAMN IT!! DO YOU THINK I'M A KID!?" I was emotional.

Finally, my friends left me. Luckily, they didn't realize I brought Narika to the mall. I finally arrived at my favorite music store. I was looking for a song for my "Battle song" after the Final Semester Exam. That's the most terrifying exam of my life. I also feel lazy about college if the "Thesis Defense" process has weird requirements. I don't really like complicated and difficult college. So I decided with Stjue and Haha that after I graduate high school, I want to go back to Hokkaido to meet my old friends and work as a novelist or take over Stjue and Haha's work.

Finally, I found a suitable song for the "battle song" after the exam. I took Narika to where she wanted to go. The place she was looking for was an underwear shop. Oh, I mean a swimsuit shop! I waited for Narika to choose a swimsuit that suited her. I felt a little bit like I was on a date with a girlfriend. But I didn't want to break the promise I made when I was in Hokkaido. I also promised myself that if I fell in love with a girl other than the one I promised, I would commit Seppuku. If she betrayed me and didn't keep her promise... I still haven't thought about that.

Finally, Narika finished choosing her underwear – Whoa! I mean, her swimsuit! In my heart, I started to wonder, "Why is Narika buying a swimsuit? That's strange." My head started to feel a bit off. Haruna and I aren't kids anymore and don't need a teen sitter (better than a babysitter, seriously). And why does Haruna know my house? This is getting weirder and weirder.

"Narika, I want to ask something." "Hai?" (Yes?) "Why did you buy a swimsuit?" "Tomorrow, I'm teaching kindergarten kids to swim." "Souka, so that's it— HUHEEEE!?"

Narika is a kindergarten teacher!? Since when did Narika work in Surabaya as a kindergarten teacher?! I was confused, considering she just arrived from Hokkaido yesterday. This made me curious. The distance between Hokkaido and Surabaya is very far, needing over 10 hours to reach. How could someone send a job offer to Narika and Subaru? I was even more confused.

Finally, it was 5:30 PM. Time to go home with Narika. Upon arriving home, dinner was already served. After dinner, I practiced singing for the Battle Music. In the middle of my practice, Haruna entered my room.

"What are you doing?" "Oh, I'm practicing singing for the battle song after this exam." "What song are you singing?" "Hip-hop & Love, Ne-Yo's 'Go On Girl'." "I want to listen." "Heh!?"

Suddenly, Narika and Subaru came into my room, along with Husky. They also wanted to hear me sing. So, I started singing while reading the lyrics, since the song was still new to me. As I sang, everyone cheered me on even more. Even Husky joined in (he just went 'Awoooo~~~'). After I finished my singing practice, everyone left my room, and my room returned to silence. I finally lay down, listening to the new song I had learned. It was 11:30 PM, and I felt sleepy. I finally had my beauty sleep on my bed.

"RINGGGGGGGG!"

My alarm clock rang again. Luckily, this time I didn't dream of my childhood. So I was safe. When I looked next to me, thankfully, it was empty, and Narika wasn't cuddling in my bed. I was relieved. I showered, had breakfast, and meditated as usual, when suddenly, Haruna's face popped into my head. My meditation was ruined because I imagined Haruna. After my failed meditation, I went to school in my car. When I arrived, the students had already changed into their sports clothes. Luckily, I had brought my sports clothes in case of a class change this week. The school schedule is always uncertain, after all.

My friends and I went down to the first floor, also known as the field. On the second floor, I saw a familiar face: Narika. My face immediately turned surprised, sullen, and sour. (All ending in "-ur" in Indonesian, hehe). I immediately pretended not to know her so that no murderous aura would come over me. Fate had other plans; Narika called me with a cute term, desired by Japanese older brothers: "Onii-chan~~~".

DAMN IT!! First, I got hit by Haruna, and now I'm hit by Narika again. But the aura I felt wasn't a powerful murderous aura. It was a nonsensical aura. How could a high school student date a middle school student? Ugh! I'm going to be mistaken for having a Lolicon syndrome like Jimmy!

This time, the sports lesson was a relay race. I got the sixth position. My opponents were quite tough at running; usually, when I run, I'd already be knocked out by the fourth lap, but after drinking water, I run fast. [Like a car]. I prepared myself, stretching and calming down. I couldn't lose to a Kunoichi; I would show that a Bushin could run fast.

My turn finally came. I got ready, waiting for my friend to pass the baton. After I got the baton, I immediately ran with the full power of my legs. I ran as fast as I could, like being chased by a police car. Unconsciously, I had reached the second exchange, opposite the starting line. I had to take a breath to calm myself down again. This time, the seventh runner passed the baton to me and my opponent. This time, we ran side-by-side again. As I approached the finish line, there was a large hole near me. I suddenly realized there was a large hole ahead. I quickly jumped over the large hole and landed safely, finally passing the baton to the eighth runner.

My face clearly couldn't smile because I had exerted so much energy in my legs at maximum speed. Some of my friends bought drinks; I asked one of them to buy me a drink. After the boys' relay was over, I watched the girls' relay. I saw the girls running the relay race looking like... Sorry, I don't dare say it... I might get cursed... (-_-')

Finally, I saw Haruna's turn. When they passed the baton to Haruna, Haruna ran much faster than me. I could only stare with a dumbfounded expression. In just two minutes, she had reached the second exchange; it felt like it took me five minutes to reach the second exchange. This time, Haruna had received the baton at the second exchange. As she approached the finish line, there was a large hole in front of her. What she did was the same as me: she jumped.

I was just normal even though they said Haruna's jump was more graceful than mine, even though I knew Haruna's secret. After the relay race, the kids played soccer, and some played basketball. The kids even invited me to play basketball. I'm okay with playing basketball, as long as I'm a defender rather than an attacker. Sometimes, I would steal the ball from an opponent behind me. When the opponent was confused about where to throw it, with my quick movement, I easily stole the ball from behind and then passed it to my friend. Hehehehe...

After getting bored of playing basketball, I chose to chat with the "big boss" kids. It's more fun to chat after exercising like running and playing basketball. As for the girls, most of them went to the canteen and gossiped about boys, music, actors, and so on. Suddenly, my friend Andri came to where I was. His face seemed very agitated.

"Hey, help me out." "Huh? Help with what?" "I just confessed to a girl, about five weeks ago..." "Uh-huh." "I've held hands and kissed her..." "Uh-huh, uh-huh." "I also accidentally touched her chest while kissing her." "Uh-huh, uh-huh, HAAAAAA!?" "Seriously. I can't take it anymore~~~"

HOLY COW!! They're already doing that while just dating!! That's insane!! That kid is actually normal, so why did he become so perverted?! My friends have ideas for kids like that; they also need my crazy ideas. So all my friends wrote down good and bad ideas for a kid like this. They wrote them down and had Andri read them. And here are the results...

I, who read it, couldn't say anything because my friends were so perverted. Luckily, I maintained my self-respect so as not to get too addicted to looking at "nyihoi" girls (even though 48% corrupted my mind). I was already starting to glitch because of kids like this. If it were me, I'd do it my own way if I were with the girl I promised in Hokkaido.

Actually, there was a question I wanted to ask Haruna. Why was Narika at my middle school? Luckily, after sports class ended, there was a break, so I could use this opportunity to ask Haruna. I saw Haruna leave with her friends. Finally, I managed to get Haruna to talk to me. Haruna and I talked in the hall because it happened to be quiet.

"Haruna, why is Narika going to school here?" "Oh, you just found out?" "She said yesterday she was a kindergarten teacher!?" "Oh, that's just her side job," "Part-time job?" "Hai, at this kindergarten at 12 o'clock later."

My head became complicated, steaming, and exploding (that's just nonsensical). I didn't expect Narika to also be a kindergarten teacher. I could only feel indifferent or happy. It turns out I felt like someone was helping me earn a living while Stjue and Haha waited in Hokkaido. It felt like God was helping my life. (Amen.)

This second break, I used to watch Narika teaching kindergarten children how to swim. Haruna and I watched Narika happily teaching the kindergarten children to swim.

"Hee... you're really good at handling kindergarten kids, you know." "Hehe... this is also one of my specialties." "Hoo... sugoi...," I was impressed. "Ne, Frank-chan," Narika called. "Hm?" "Seeing these children... makes me want to have a child with you...," "Na... NARIKA!?" Haruna and I were both flustered. "Hehe... just kidding."

The second break was over. Haruna and I returned to class. My heart was still pounding, remembering Narika's words about wanting to have a child with me. Was Narika the girl I made a promise with? Was Narika truly the person I was waiting for? Ah, no, that's impossible. I promised that after graduating high school, I would return to Hokkaido. Even though my mind was still questioning it. Who was the girl I made a promise with back then?

The next lesson was... Mandarin... Laose Peyang. Oh no, today was also a reading test. I'm dead. I looked at my friends' faces; they all had sour smiles. More precisely, no one had studied at all. Just one word before I glitched.

"AAAAAaaa~~~njrot~~!!" I yelled like a lost Tarzan.

The class fell silent because I shouted that word at a low volume. Count 4½, keys B and C. (Doesn't make sense.) Then a few seconds later, everyone burst into loud laughter. I laughed along too, rather than being considered autistic, or rather, my nerves needed to be re-serviced; 45 nerves needed to be completely replaced because of my glitching nature.

"Franky, come to the front!!"

Damn it!! (X_X) I'm screwed. Turns out Laose's ears are sharp too, rivaling mine. I finally mustered the courage to go forward stupidly. Without further ado, I spoke like a snail until Laose quickly got bored of hearing me talk. More precisely, like someone overdosing rather than crazy.

"That's enough, call the person next to you." The person Laose meant was Haruna. I called Haruna to come to the front because it was her turn. I called Haruna; her face looked stressed. Haruna was already very desperate for Mandarin class.

"Haruna, it's your turn to come forward." "Um... Franky-kun...," "Hm, what's wrong?" "Atashi... Chuugoku wakarimasen...." (I... don't understand Chinese....) "Heh?"

Haruna can't speak Mandarin? Well, what a coincidence. Hehehehehe, I don't understand it either, but why am I laughing? Ah, never mind. Finally, Haruna went to the front, feeling nervous. I saw her do the same thing she did, reading without any tone of voice. Understandable, being a native Japanese. But the torture wasn't over; a more cruel torture awaited. Try Out for Final Exam.

"Hey, Frank," Erwin called me.

"What?" I turned around.

"Damn it~~" Erwin started to freeze.

"You idiot." I couldn't say anything.
