Lotus, Scarlet, and Shen Ruo trembled. Every step forward echoed with wounds of the past.

Just before dusk, they were attacked.
Figures clad in black robes descended from the trees, wielding corrupted qi blades. Their faces were hidden, but their leader bore a crimson symbol on his palm—a lotus with an eye inside.
"The Dark Petal Sect," Lotus growled. "They were banished decades ago."
The enemy struck fast.
Li Wei darted into the fray, his speed enhanced by Soul Resonance. For every strike he made, the girls matched it—Meiyu's illusions multiplied him, Shen Ruo's sigils absorbed blows, Lana fought side-by-side with him, scarlet fire and bone blades tearing through the dark.
Then one of the enemies lunged for Yue.

Li Wei yelled—but Yue spun, encasing her attacker in an ice prison with a flick of her fingers. The ice exploded, shards piercing the fog like glass rain.
The rest of the sect fled.

The next day, they reached an unnatural chasm—black as void, impossible to cross by sight alone. A single bridge, thin as a thread, stretched across.
Each step distorted time and space. Scarlet went first, her coffin floating behind her.
Halfway, the bridge fractured, and something stirred from below—a swirling mouth of wind, light, and screams.

"You've changed," she whispered.
"So have all of you," he said. "You changed me."
She smiled. "We're not just your harem anymore."
"No," he agreed, "You're my everything."
