Passersby who witnessed the interaction quickly lost interest, dismissing it as a simple game between a couple.
"Hmph. Since you brought me something tasty, I'll forgive you," Nekomata declared, not forgetting to take a few more bites of her jerky. Seeing that she was no longer upset about his tardiness, Wise immediately launched into his date plan.
"Thank you for your magnanimity, Miss Nekomata. Shall we head over to the aquarium next?"
He knew she wouldn't be interested in construction machinery, so this arrangement would also prevent her from running into Corin. As for the aquarium, Wise suspected it would only whet Nekomata's appetite further, but he was confident she would enjoy it nonetheless.
She agreed without hesitation. Sure enough, just a few tanks into the aquarium, Nekomata was already drooling and taking massive bites out of the jerky in her arms. Although the portion was generous, it wouldn't last long at this rate. Wise seized the opportunity.
"Nekomata, it looks like you're almost out of jerky. Should I go buy some more?"
"Huh, but..." Nekomata hesitated. The jerky was delicious, but her main goal was to be on a date with Wise.
"Don't worry, the shop is just over there. I'll be back in a flash. Just wait here for a bit."
"Okay, then you'd better hurry back, meow."
Having secured her permission, just as before, Wise quickly vanished from her sight. After he left, Nekomata didn't continue looking at the fish. Instead, she took out her phone and started reading what appeared to be an online post.
Meanwhile, Wise took a shortcut to Area 6, where the next girl, Rina, was waiting. She was wearing a trench coat with the hood up, sitting in a roadside shop, her fingers occasionally swiping across a tablet in front of her.
When she noticed Wise walk in, Rina immediately shut off her tablet and stood up with a smile.
"Sorry, I'm late."
"No, Wise, your timing is perfect," Rina shook her head. She had just finished reviewing the route for their date. If Wise had arrived any earlier, she wouldn't have had time to finish her review and would have felt less at ease.
"Alright then, shall we go?"
"Mhm." Rina nodded, and as if remembering something, she reached up and pulled down the hood of her trench coat. Wise, slightly taken aback, reached out and gently smoothed her ruffled hair.
"You look very cute."
"Ah! Th-thank you..." Rina blushed. Aside from their accidental kiss inside the Hollow, this was the first time they had shared such an intimate moment, and Wise had initiated it.
Wise then suggested they visit a nearby clothing store. During their conversation, he learned that she didn't pay much attention to her attire—a fact made obvious by her choice of a trench coat for a date. He thought buying her new clothes might encourage her to try a new style.
Rina readily agreed. Once inside the store, Wise picked out a variety of outfits in different styles. Rina seemed quite interested and wanted to try them all on, which Wise was perfectly fine with.
Anyone who has gone shopping with a girlfriend knows that choosing clothes can be a time-consuming affair. Fortunately, Rina was not like that. After picking out a few outfits that were both stylish and comfortable, they paid and left. Although Wise offered to pay, Rina waved it off, saying she wasn't short on cash.
Her attention was then captured by a nearby PvP gaming arena. As she walked over with great interest, Wise saw that his time was almost up. While she was on stage for a challenge, he made his excuses and slipped away.
He rushed back to Area 1 and found Belle still standing there, holding a plastic bag containing several videotapes.
"Big brother, you took forever! How could buying breakfast take so long?!"
Belle voiced her strong dissatisfaction. Wise could only apologize profusely while handing the long-awaited breakfast to his starving sister. Fortunately, Belle didn't dwell on it. She handed the tapes to Wise as punishment, making him carry them. Having been worried that Wise wouldn't find her if she wandered off, she could finally go and look at the trinkets in the other stalls, like bracelets and keychains.
Wise accompanied her, keeping a close eye on the time. Soon enough, he made another excuse and escaped once more. This time, his destination was Area 14. It was adjacent to Area 1, separated only by Area 15, so a quick detour would get him there fast.
In Area 14, Anby was standing by a fountain, eating a hamburger. Just then, a pigeon landed on her left shoulder. Anby turned her head to look at it. After a moment's hesitation, she broke off a small piece of bread from her hamburger and fed it to the pigeon, which happily ate it.
But then, another pigeon landed on her right shoulder, its eyes fixed on the hamburger in her hand. Unable to bear its stare, Anby broke off another small piece.
So, when Wise arrived, he was greeted by a rather incredible sight. Anby was surrounded by pigeons—on her head, her shoulders, her arms, and all around her—as she methodically tore off tiny pieces of her hamburger to feed them.
Upon noticing Wise's arrival, Anby tossed the remainder of her hamburger to the side. The pigeons immediately flocked to it, and Anby walked briskly over to Wise.
"Uh, sorry to keep you waiting." Although Wise had said this many times today, this time he truly meant it. He was genuinely late.
However, Anby didn't seem to mind. She shook her head to indicate it was fine and then pointed to the upcoming hamburger-eating contest nearby. Wise immediately understood. Unfortunately, as much as he wanted to witness Anby devour hamburgers one after another, time was not on his side.
So, after Anby went on stage, Wise had to leave first. Fortunately, the competition was being recorded, so he could always watch it later.
His rendezvous with Ellen was in Area 12. He had plenty of time to get there now. But when he arrived, she wasn't in her work uniform or her usual school uniform. Instead, she wore a cute dress with a bow on the chest.
