Damien nodded faintly, reaching out to take it.
He calmly counted it, before slipping it into his inventory without another word.
This little action of his elicited another gasp from Susan, bud she quickly controlled herself and calmed down.
"If you'd like, sir, I can escort you back out to the main hall," she offered, her tone warm but careful.
"There's no need," he replied, shaking his head immediately.
Susan's eyes widened slightly at the firmness in his tone, though she quickly composed herself. Her smile faltered for only a second before returning to her lips, albeit a bit smaller now.
"Of course, sir," she said quietly, bowing her head slightly.
As he stood from his chair and turned toward the door, her gaze lingered on him for a brief moment longer. Her thoughts drifted, curiosity tugging at her once again.
