Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Weak, Pitiful, and Helpless-But Extra Cheeky

After standing in front of her classroom door for about a minute, Konata reached out and knocked.

As expected, the teacher currently conducting the class was none other than the gorilla-like instructor.

"TOKIKONO Konata , you alone were ten minutes late. That means the entire class of forty wasted four hundred minutes. You know what to do, right?"

The gorilla teacher adjusted his glasses with a finger and spoke ominously.

"Go stand in the hallway as punishment, then afterward, write a five-thousand-word reflection and submit it to..."

"Teacher, I have something to say."

Konata raised her hand, her eyes gleaming with intelligence.

"Under the same spatial dimension, time cannot be calculated repeatedly."

"Get out!!"

"According to both general and special relativity, as well as school regulations, the teacher has no right..."

"...Were you late or not?"

"Yes, but this was an act of force majeure. I have ample evidence to prove it."

The well-prepared Konata took out her newly purchased phone.

"At 6:30 yesterday evening, I was held hostage by an armed assailant and suffered severe..."

"That's the girl from the news! The one with the adorable ahoge who accidentally killed herself trying to activate her Quirk!!"

Before Konata could even finish her sentence, some classmates who had seen the news report pointed at the ahoge on her head as if they'd discovered a new continent. In an instant, the previously quiet classroom erupted into chaos.

Konata: "..."

In the end, Konata was forced to write a 2,000-word self-reflection -not because of her justifiable tardiness, but because she had brought her phone to school and brazenly taken it out in front of the teacher. If she didn't obediently write the reflection, her brand-new phone would likely be confiscated for good.

Harsh reality.

"Konata-chan, are you okay?"

As Konata slumped back into her seat, Tsuyu Asui, sitting in front of her, turned around with a worried expression.

"I heard your injuries back then were really-"

"No problemo! Totally fine!!"

With a dramatic wave of her hand, Konata instantly shook off her earlier gloom.

"Tsuyu, guess who I ran into? The one and only All Might! And not just that I even got his autograph! I can give you one for free, and if anyone else wants-"

"Konata!!!"

The gorilla-like teacher at the podium was on the verge of exploding. Judging by his stance, there was an 80% chance he'd storm down and engage in a real-life brawl if she disrupted class any further.

"Mm..."

After a brief moment of consideration-and adhering to the principle of "a wise man knows when to retreat"-Konata immediately straightened up in her seat.

"Teacher, I'm all ears. Please proceed."

Gorilla Teacher:"…"

He still couldn't wrap his head around it. How had this once-invisible student undergone such a drastic transformation in less than two months? Sure, she used to be unremarkable, but at least she was well-behaved. Now look at her!

Changing her career path to apply for U.A. High was one thing-as a responsible teacher, he was genuinely pleased to see a formerly listless student regain motivation. But soon enough, he regretted that sentiment.

Sleeping in class? Fine, she still aced her exams. But for a girl, wasn't she a bit too... unruly? Casually strolling into the boys' restroom during the busiest break and scaring everyone out without batting an eye was one thing. Sneaking off during P.E. with a few accomplices to steal oranges from the principal's garden was almost forgivable. But how in the world did she manage to turn a simple, safe chemistry experiment into an explosion? She nearly destroyed the lab! If not for sheer luck preventing injuries, she'd have ended up in juvenile detention for sure.

And that was just the tip of the iceberg. He could list a dozen more incidents just like it.

In less than two months, she had subtly become a campus celebrity. Walking down the hallway between classes, people would bow and call her "Big Bro"... Yes, he'd personally witnessed this.

To him, she was clearly a demon wearing an angel's disguise-her appearance was utterly deceptive. A petite girl with signature bedhead and a beauty mark, she looked fragile, helpless, and pitiful, but in reality, she was especially mischievous.

Finally making it through class, Konata Kohata proudly pulled out the autograph book and generously tore out a page for Tsuyu Asui, remembering that Tsuyu was also an All Might fan... Was everyone in this world an All Might fan except her?

The recent kidnapping incident hadn't traumatized her young mind at all. Instead, it only strengthened her desire to unlock her cheat abilities as soon as possible.

Just imagine-if she had already unlocked Railgun back then, who would dare take her hostage? A single Electromagnetic Cannon would teach them a lesson, damn it!! If she had unlocked Shana, the Heaven-Blazing Flame would let them run fifty meters first!! And if she had unlocked Hatsune Miku... well, maybe she could've defeated the enemy by dancing to "Leek Spin"? Though that transformation seemed wildly unreliable...

After sluggishly filling out a 2,000-word apology letter in the required format and handing it to the gorilla-like teacher, Konata finally got her newly bought phone back. After a brief pause, she sent a message to All Might:

[About yesterday... thank Midoriya for me.]
