Chapter 2 - Chapter Three: Friends

GWENDOLEN

I did not seem to feel anything. No sparks like I have heard girls say. I still felt plain and empty like always. Void of emotions as forever. Maybe his creature was deceiving him or he was just a crazy hybrid on the lose.

I stood up, carrying my bag and hanging it on my shoulder.

"You got the wrong person." I plainly told him and made my way out. I stopped after taking four steps. He was still frozen there but that wasn't what caught my attention. He had come with friends. Four others to be precise.

I shook my head and left the cemetery. I was afraid to go home but I had to be home. Not that I was needed. My parents always isolated me from my siblings and I got to understand that they had me under a conditional circumstance which they were not proud of.

 In a word, I was a mistake.

An intentional mistake.

 An unavoidable mistake.

I was still wondering though, why haven't they thrown me out?

I was different. I was called Cemetery girl by my peers and Babayaga by little children.

Would you believe if I told you I was banned from the park?

 Well I was. Why?

Because I made children cry with my appearance. I really hated myself and had wished to die but I couldn't. Not that I couldn't kill myself.

 I couldn't die.

I was already dead.

 I was a walking dead.

I had no beating heart.

No one knew besides my parents.

The only person that gave me joy was my younger brother, Clinton. He was the cutest at heart and I loved him so much.

I got to my house. I couldn't call here a home at all. Besides Clinton, everyone else treated me like a disease.

I knocked on the door but no one answered. The lights were still on yet no one answered. I decided to get in through my room window which I always leave open incase I got locked out intentionally but today was one of those days when one of them had locked the window to prevent me from getting in.

I couldn't get in through the back door either so I stayed outside. I rarely sleep but this night, I did.

The next morning, the back door was opened by my mother or no, Rita. I never called her mother or she would hit me in the face. She ignores me and continued taking out the trash. I went inside and quickly had my bath and got prepared for the day.

I had work to do. I did my laundry, cleaned my room, had my meal and picked up my necessary items which I could use to pass away time at the cemetery.

I had been learning some ancient ghost magic mostly the forbidden ones. I found some books connected to these in the library and took them to learn more.

I stopped by the library while on my way to the cemetery. I took dropped back the books I took and collected more. The librarian was afraid of me like everyone else and even put up a smile today probably to please me. I just keep wondering why.

I trekked to the cemetery but today came out a different way. A car stopped beside me and out came the boy of yesterday.

"Hey." He waved and got closer. He had blonde hair and blue eyes. I already knew he was a supernatural creature in disguise, his behavior yesterday sold him out.

"I told you, you got the wrong person." I said without emotion even in my voice.

"My creatures would never deceive me. You are my mate." He said but that made me raise a brow. Could he be 'THE' Ultimum beast hybrid or just 'A' complex hybrid?

"Look, mate bonds only exist if both parties feel the same pull. You know about fake mate bonds, right? My deity and your deity that pair up their creations may not be in proper agreement of this." I said, trying to make him understand.

He looked surprised for a while, probably understanding what I was saying now; "You didn't feel the mate bond, did you?"

 "No, I did not."

He looked angry all of a sudden but I knew that was not directed to me so I started walking out but he held me back. I glared at his hold on my wrist and he let go.

"I am sorry." He muttered "Could we be friends at least?"

I was now surprised. Friends? Everyone avoided me. Why would this creature suddenly want to be my friend? Was he sent? Who sent him? Why was he sent? What does the person want?

"No." I replied sharply and left.

That word, friends. I wasn't used to it. I never had one, I was always avoided when I was little and I know that people knew the reason why.

Today passed by slowly, I had practiced on what I had learnt and started with the new books. There was more of history than spells here. I became quite interested went through the books.

Henderires...

Clempirs...

Clevache...

Honduxes...

The Mow-dow...

The? That only meant that the creature was rare and had a special history.

I opened to the page and it was a very short history compared to the others.

*Everyone knew about the Calvins. They were known to consist of mostly beasts and demons. They practiced incest in order to reproduce their kind. They had progenies and complex hybrids but at a certain time, they could not reproduce. The only son, Nahum at the 16th generation was their only hope. He married a complex hybrid demon, Regina and gave birth to two sons; Jackson and Jason.

Jackson was born a demon host while Jason was born a beast host. Because of this, Jackson was had to subdue whenever he went crazy compared to Jason. This made his the council arrange for his death and he was killed by assassins.

But that was a mistake, he came back not just as a demon host but a ghost host too. He haunted those involved in his death and threatened his parents with Jason's life.

Not until he was told that he had a mate waiting for him. He went in search for him or her and got to realize that the assassins where the ones to give birth to that child...*

And that was it. It wasn't torn out. The story was in complete but I didn't need anyone to tell me that Jackson was the Mow-dow. But then, who was the mate to him.
