I stepped fully into the study, letting the door swing wide behind me. The look of sheer panic on Fiona's face was almost worth the years of abuse I'd endured.
"Uncle Gideon was just leaving," Fiona said quickly, trying to regain composure.
"Actually, I think Uncle Gideon and I need to have a chat." I crossed my arms and faced him directly. "How much were you asking my dear sister for that information? Ten million, was it?"
Gideon's thin lips curved into an oily smile. "My, you have good hearing."
"I'll double it," I said bluntly. "Twenty million for whatever you know about the baby switch."
Fiona gasped. "You can't—"
"Shut up, Fiona." My voice was steel. I kept my eyes locked on Gideon. "Well?"
He studied me with new interest, like a collector appraising a valuable artifact. "Tempting offer. Very tempting."
"Take it or leave it." I pulled out my phone. "I can transfer a down payment right now."
