Chapter 84 - The Marines' Intelligence War

From the memories of the Marine Rear Admiral named "Delasol," Alucard had pretty much figured out why the Marines were able to accurately ambush him there.

Most likely, after the events on Sabaody Archipelago, where he set up Roger and Borsalino, Roger inadvertently leaked some information during their engagement. This was discovered by attentive Marines, then reported to high-ranking officials at Marine Headquarters.

Tsuru, known for being the brains of the Marines, inferred from the conversation that Alucard had already left Sabaody Archipelago and was about to arrive in the New World.

Overall, the reason his whereabouts were leaked, besides Tsuru's exceptionally high intellect, was because Roger had a loose tongue.

However, according to Tsuru's deduction, they should have dispatched stronger Marines to capture him, not just a fleet led by a Rear Admiral.

There were two reasons for this: one, Alucard arrived very quickly, leaving no time to immediately deploy more forces. Two, the personnel were dispersed; the Marines had several warships deployed, and Alucard just happened to run into Delasol's.

'He really is the same kind of person as Luffy,' Alucard thought to himself.

Alucard turned to look. There was still another warship with unresolved personnel, containing over a thousand Marines.

"Seriously, let's finish this quickly. I don't enjoy 'musou' games," Alucard muttered, saying something that the surrounding Marines didn't quite understand, as he swiftly charged into the main Marine force.

The continuous gunfire and battle roared to life. The Marines were learning to fight Alucard smarter. Even if they couldn't defeat him immediately, they wouldn't allow their soldiers to be sacrificed in vain.

For example, when they first saw his transformation into bats, Delasol's soldiers immediately reported this information to Headquarters.

It was the same now.

Alucard was swiftly slaughtering on one of the two Marine warships, while the Marines on the other ship weren't rushing to jump over and confront Alucard.

Two soldiers were observing Alucard's abilities through a telescope, describing his moves to a comrade beside him. The other soldier was on a Den Den Mushi, quickly relaying the information from his telescope-wielding companion to his superiors.

"Report! Alucard wields two handguns. Estimated power: at least 3000 Doriki. The black gun is three times more powerful than the white gun, but it cannot fire rapidly."

"Alucard can absorb people into his own body, but the effect of this is unknown."

"He can conjure a sword from his own blood within three seconds. This is somewhat similar to Vice Admiral Borsalino's Glint-Glint Fruit."

The intelligence soldiers continuously reported Alucard's techniques and abilities to their superiors.

After Alucard had eliminated the vast majority of them, very few Marines remained on the other warship. The highest-ranking remaining Marine was only a Captain. Seeing that the tide had turned and capturing Alucard was no longer possible, the Captain quickly yelled, "Retreat, retreat!"

Alucard stood at the bow of the other warship, holding Casull upright and Jackal horizontally, forming a cross with his two guns. He aimed at the stern of the opposing warship, a slight smirk on his lips. "No need to rush off..."

Bang! Bang!

Both guns fired. Alucard was already very familiar with the structure of warships. With a single shot, he destroyed the ship's main propulsion. He didn't know the layout of the New World branches, but it would be quite difficult for that ship to successfully sail to the next island.

BOOM!

Suddenly, a more muffled thunder roared from the sky, followed by a torrential downpour. Several seconds later, Alucard felt an uncomfortable sensation on his skin. It was... acid rain!

"Heh, this weather is quite annoying too."

Alucard transformed back into bats and flew back to his ship. At the same time, the system notified him of the increase in his abilities after this battle.

...

Ability Development Progress

Vampire Physique Complete Form: 10%

Bat Transformation Complete Form: 12%

Weapon - Casull LV4: 95%

Weapon - Jackal LV1: 79%

Blacklight Virus LV3: 49%

Hidden Shadow LV2: 40%

...

The later the stage, the slower the growth speed. However, this battle truly lacked any challenge; it was essentially a "mowing down" of fodder, so Alucard didn't particularly care.

Meanwhile, as Alucard had anticipated, the warship began to sink due to critical damage before even reaching the next island.

In the first half of the Grand Line, skilled survivors of shipwrecks might be able to swim to an island, but don't dream of that in the New World. Unless it's a monster like Rayleigh, shipwrecking in the New World essentially means death.

However, the Marines weren't entirely unsuccessful this time. They successfully reported Alucard's abilities, allowing Headquarters to analyze his powers.

Whether it was a Devil Fruit, biological modification, or a special ability of some race, gathering more intelligence would give them a three-point advantage in their next battle.

Alucard was not yet aware of this, but even if he were, he wouldn't care. As he delved deeper into this world, it was inevitable that his abilities would become known to his enemies. Knowing a bit beforehand didn't bother him much.

Next on his agenda was to find the island Vegapunk spoke of, the one called "Baizinbur."
