Chapter 10 - Chapter Ten: The Briefing

‎A divine hush fell over the Grand Sanctum.

Magus Avalyne stepped forward, her presence washing over the stadium like golden sunlight. Draped in robes that shimmered with cosmic threads, she raised her staff, and instantly, every murmur and whisper vanished. Even the wind seemed to still.

‎"I am Magus Avalyne," she began, her voice clear and melodic, laced with arcane authority. "And I will be briefing you all on everything you need to know about Magus College and the Magus Multiverse at large. First-year acolytes—pay massive attention. I know many of you hail from lower-realm worlds where deep information and advanced technology about the multiverse are scarce. So listen well."

‎She took a moment to let her words settle.

‎"First, the structure of Magus College. The college is overseen by the Headmaster—our very own Headmaster Caelirion Varn. He is assisted by Grand Magus Evelyn Brant, a formidable and regal woman with a commanding presence and a charming aura."

‎"Beneath them are ten elemental departments, each focused on the mastery of a specific element. These are: the Department of Plant, Earth, Water, Lightning, Wind, Metal, Fire, Sound, Darkness, and Time. Each department is headed by a Department Magus."

‎"Now, each of these departments is housed on a unique planet, orbiting the central world of Magus College. These planets are accessible via the Grand Teleportation Center, located in the eastern quadrant of the college. Above each portal shimmers the bold inscription of the corresponding planet's name."

‎She gestured, and ten orbs floated behind her, each representing a department planet.

‎1. Florasia – The planet of Plant Magic. Covered in lush jungles, glowing flora, and sacred groves. Origin Mountain rises from the heart of an eternal bloom, its roots said to stretch across the entire world.

‎2. Terranova – The planet of Earth Magic. A realm of vast canyons, towering cliffs, and underground labyrinths. Origin Mountain bursts forth from a crystal canyon, humming with earthen energy.

‎3. Aquana – The planet of Water Magic. A world of endless oceans. The Origin Mountain, known as Abyssspire, emerges from the deepest trench at its center. It is said only true masters can even approach its base.

‎4. Voltheim – The planet of Lightning Magic. Shrouded in constant storm clouds, crackling with endless electricity. Origin Mountain pulses with living thunder.

‎5. Galeora – The planet of Wind Magic. Dominated by floating islands and high-altitude plains. Origin Mountain floats midair, levitating above a storm-wrapped void.

‎6. Ferrusia – The planet of Metal Magic. Entire continents of steel, ore rivers, and mechanical flora. Origin Mountain is an iron colossus crowned with eternal flame.

‎7. Ignix – The planet of Fire Magic. A volatile world of volcanoes, molten seas, and burning skies. Origin Mountain is a living volcano itself, said to be the first fire born of the multiverse.

‎8. Sonoriel – The planet of Sound Magic. Everything resonates—forests that sing, mountains that echo with power. Origin Mountain is a harmonic pillar that radiates vibrational waves.

‎9. Umbraxis – The planet of Darkness Magic. Cloaked in eternal twilight, filled with obsidian forests and glowing fungi. Origin Mountain is an obsidian spire reaching into the void.

‎10. Chronomere – The elusive planet of Time Magic. Hidden in folds of space, only accessible to those marked by fate. Origin Mountain here exists in all timelines at once.

‎"Now you may wonder," Avalyne said, her eyes twinkling, "why there is a planet for Time when it is said a time-wielding acolyte is born once every thousand years. Chronomere remains sealed to all but the chosen—its secrets protected until the destined awakens."

‎She turned again.

‎"In addition to the ten departments, we have seven prestigious institutes. Unlike the planetary departments, these are located within the college's main grounds. Each institute is dedicated to a specialized field of magical development."

‎She raised her hand and more lights appeared.

‎1. Institute of Alchemy – Found in the southern courtyard, this institute trains acolytes in potion-making, transmutation, and elemental infusion.

‎2. Institute of Forging and Smithing – Located in the western ridge, it focuses on the creation of magical weapons, armors, and ancient artifacts.

‎3. Institute of Combat and Martial Magus – Set in the northern barracks, it blends spellcraft with physical prowess, weapon mastery, and aura reinforcement.

‎4. Institute of Mind, Soul, and Fate – Situated beneath the Dome of Contemplation, it delves into prophecy, mental magic, and soul resonance.

‎5. Institute of Governance and Multiversal Relations – Towering near the central sanctum, it prepares leaders, diplomats, and multiverse law enforcers.

‎6. Institute of Summoning and Beastcraft – East of the Sanctuary Garden, it teaches magical beast summoning, pact bonding, and interspecies diplomacy.

‎7. Institute of Time, Space, and Dimensional Arts – Hidden within the Arcane Spire, a restricted but elite place for teleportation, dimensional travel, and time-related studies.

‎"The Grand Sanctum," Avalyne continued, her voice echoing now, "stands at the heart of Magus College. Year One class sections are found just southeast of it, while the Year Two halls lie directly behind. Management offices, the Duel Center, and the Activity Center all form a ring around this core."

‎She now lifted a golden coin-like stone between her fingers.

‎"This is a Money Stone—the standard currency of the Magus Multiverse. Shaped like a golden crystal and warm to the touch, it hums with stored magic. All money stones can be stored in your storage rings and are universally accepted."

‎She then waved her staff again, revealing three glowing screens.

‎"Personal points are the system by which your performance is measured."

‎[Personal Points System]

‎Individual Quest: +5 points

‎Group Quest:

‎Low-level: +50 points

‎Mid-level: +75 points

‎High-level: +100 points

‎Simulated Duels:

‎‎Victory vs. fellow Year One: +20 points

‎‎Victory vs. Year Two: +40 points

‎‎Refusing a duel challenge: -5 points

‎End-of-session tournament: Ranked progression

‎‎"All points are tracked in real time and displayed on three leaderboards here at the Activity Center:

‎‎1. Year One Rankings

‎2. Year Two Rankings

‎‎3. Combined Acolyte Rankings

‎Massive screens project these stats daily for all to see. Some quests may also reward you with both points and money stones."

‎She turned solemn. "Every quest—be it Simulated Duel, Herbology Hunt, or Magical Beast Taming—is designed to build teamwork, courage, and mastery."

‎As she stepped back, silence reigned.

‎Then, another figure emerged.

‎Headmaster Caelirion Varn.

‎His voice was deeper, yet fatherly. "Welcome, young acolytes. Your journey begins not as masters, but as seekers. Discipline, respect, and perseverance will determine your fate. You now walk a path woven by the ancients. Waste not the privilege. Respect your peers. Forge bonds. Fight with honor. And never, ever forget—you represent Magus College."

‎A long silence followed. Then—

‎A roaring cheer erupted from the entire stadium.

‎The Earthborns, Virdelions, and students from across the cosmos joined in a thunderous ovation.

‎Avalyne returned, smiling.

‎"Now—" she said, raising both hands, "Let the celebration begin!"
