Chapter 1 - betrayal

Betrayal — a word that shattered Aditi Verma's life in a single moment. Aditi, a calm, simple, and gentle girl, belonged to a wealthy family, yet she loved living an ordinary life. She adored writing, art, and helping others, which is why, instead of becoming a doctor, she chose to serve as a nurse. She worked in the same hospital where her fiancé Rahul was a doctor. Until that morning, Aditi's life was peaceful and balanced — until she stumbled upon a cruel truth that changed everything. After finishing her shift as a nurse, she went to Rahul's cabin to invite him for dinner. But outside the cabin, she overheard voices that pierced her soul. It was her sister Nisha flirting with Rahul. "If you marry me, all my wealth will be yours," Nisha said, and Rahul, the man Aditi believed to be her love, responded, "Yes, my love, you are my real wife. I'm only pretending to be engaged to Aditi." Nisha even added, "If she dies, we can get married sooner." Hearing those words, Aditi's heart broke. She stood there, numb and breathless, tears welling up in her eyes. Then, in a rage and shock, she burst into Rahul's cabin and screamed, "How dare you do this to me with my own sister?" She slapped Nisha in a fit of pain and betrayal. Rahul, without hesitation, slapped Aditi back and yelled, "Who are you to question me? I'm going to marry Nisha. You are nothing to me." Crying uncontrollably, Aditi pulled off her engagement ring and threw it in his face, running out of the hospital, out of her old life. She ran down the highway, through the darkness of night, with no direction, no hope. Her heart was crushed, her trust shattered. Tears streamed down her face as she wondered, "Why? Why did they do this to me?" Suddenly, a speeding vehicle hit her. Blood oozed from her body, her vision blurred, and she lost consciousness. Just then, a mysterious man appeared out of nowhere, lifted her in his arms while she murmured weakly, "Who are you? Leave me… please…" He didn't say a word. He took her to the hospital, admitted her, and vanished. The next morning, Aditi woke up with blood in her eyes and a heavy head. The doctor informed her that someone had saved her, but didn't leave a name. She could faintly recall those mysterious eyes — they held something deep and unreadable. After being discharged from the hospital, she took a taxi and went home. But her heart no longer felt at home there. Just then, her best friend Rida came running in and hugged her tightly, tears in her eyes, "Where were you? I called you so many times. I even filed a police complaint!" Aditi couldn't say a word — she just cried in Rida's arms. Slowly, Rida came to know everything. She was furious. "That scumbag Rahul should be punished! How dare he do this to you?" Rida had always supported Aditi, like a shield — and this time was no different. Rida worked as a manager in a hotel named Singa, where many VIPs stayed. The next day, Aditi resigned from her job at the hospital. She couldn't bear to see Rahul again. She moved in with Rida and wanted a fresh start away from the past. One morning, Aditi said, "Please take me to your hotel. I want to breathe fresh air." Rida agreed and took her to the Singa Hotel. As soon as Aditi stepped in, she was stunned. "Is this a hotel or a palace?" she whispered. Rida chuckled, "A hotel, silly." "Even my house isn't this beautiful. I want to live here," Aditi said longingly. "You can," Rida teased, "but you'll have to pay." "I have nothing," Aditi sighed. "My parents — Srinivas and Gayatri Verma — disowned me and took everything." As they climbed the stairs, Aditi's curiosity got the better of her. She headed toward the VIP floor. "Don't go there," Rida warned. "That's where the high-profile guests stay." "Just one peek," Aditi smiled. Rida hesitated, then nodded. As Aditi reached the floor, she accidentally bumped into a man. "Sorry," she said. But the man looked at her intensely — his eyes weren't angry but deeply intrigued. "Your name?" he asked. "Aditi," she replied. "What a beautiful name… I'm Rishi." "Oh," she said, slightly shy. "If you don't mind, may I have your number?" Rishi asked. Aditi was startled. "No," she said, half-laughing. "I'm not begging," he grinned. "Just asking." Aditi smiled and finally gave him her number. "Friends?" he asked. "Friends," she replied. As she turned to leave, suddenly, someone grabbed her arm and pulled her into a room. Her heart raced. "Who is it? What do they want from me? Who is Rishi really?" If you want to know what happens next — then read Is This Love?
