Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: The Silent Snap

The group moved cautiously through the dimly lit halls of the abandoned facility. Their footsteps echoed against the stained concrete, and their flashlights swept across peeling walls and broken tiles. Tension clung to the air.

"Stay close," Luna whispered, leading the group through a rusted corridor.

Brogan nodded tightly, and Vexxie followed behind, keeping her eyes scanning the shadows behind them. The facility was still. Too still.

Suddenly, they all heard it — the soft, metallic creeeak… followed by a sharp coil noise.

Before anyone could react, a tall, sickly figure manifested behind Vexxie — its grotesquely elongated neck twitching unnaturally, head tilted at a wrong angle.

It was Coil Head.

Its long arms stretched forward and slowly wrapped around Vexxie's neck. The others froze, horrified.

The monster wasn't snapping her neck — not yet. But it was right there, its fingers barely touching her throat, as if savoring the moment. The coiling sound of its muscles tightening filled the hallway.

"VEXXIE DON'T MOVE!" Luna cried.

Brogan turned pale. "Oh my god…"

[Twitch Chat]

"WHAT IS THAT?!""LOOK AT HIS HANDS 😭""He's just WAITING…""I'm gonna cry this is so tense omg""I'm downloading this RIGHT NOW."

Vexxie was paralyzed, the cold air around her thick with dread. Her body trembled as she whispered, "I can feel him… just breathing on me…"

Luna forced herself to speak calmly. "Vexxie. Turn around. Slowly."

With barely a breath, Vexxie turned, until her eyes met the monster's. The moment she did, Coil Head's arms froze in place, motionless but never leaving her neck. His soulless eyes locked into hers — staring deep, endless.

Brogan swallowed. "We need a plan. I'll stay here and watch it," he said, gripping his flashlight. "Both of you — go find scrap. We still need 50 more credits, remember?"

Luna and Vexxie exchanged a tense glance. They nodded silently.

With one last look at Brogan — still frozen in his watchful stare — the two girls turned and stepped through a doorway to the next room.

Luna pushed forward cautiously, flashlight sweeping left and right. The moment she stepped over the threshold—

THWACK.

A worm-like creature, slick and fast, launched from above and latched onto her face. It wrapped around her helmet and head like a vice, its tendrils digging in.

Her flashlight dropped to the floor.

Luna stumbled and screamed — but the sound was muffled, as if someone had plunged her into water. She flailed, trying to claw it off her face, but her limbs moved sluggishly.

Vexxie, just behind her, screamed. "LUNA?!"

Luna couldn't respond. Her screams were silent. Her body twisted and fell to the floor as the creature wrapped tighter around her head and neck. Vexxie panicked and slammed the door shut, locking it.

She stared through the reinforced glass in horror.

Luna was on the floor, kicking, her voice nothing but garbled static through the comms.

Then... she stopped.

Her legs went still. The creature's grip loosened — and her body fell limp.

[Twitch Chat]

"NOOO LUNA WTF""WHAT WAS THAT?!""NOT HER DYING LIKE THAT""I am SHAKING.""This game is insane…"

Brogan, still facing Coil Head with every muscle locked in place, heard the faint, muffled screams behind him.

"What… what was that?" he asked. "Why was Luna screaming?"

Vexxie's voice cracked through the mic. "She—she's dead. A worm thing... it jumped on her face and strangled her— I… I couldn't help—"

"What?! What kind of worm?! What do you mean strangled—?" Brogan's voice cracked. "I TOLD her not to split too far—!"

His knees wobbled. "God… I can't even turn to help…"

[Twitch Chat]

"Brogan is locked in a stare-off with a neck-snap demon while hearing his friend get eaten alive 😭""This game is EVIL.""This is better than 90% of horror movies rn."

Vexxie sat with her back to the door, tears in her eyes, trying to control her breathing.

In that hallway, silence fell again. One staring at a monster that would kill him the second he blinked. The other sitting on the other side of a glass door, watching the lifeless body of her friend.

The scrap was still out there.

But so were the things that wanted them dead.
