Chapter forty two
Amendiel feels something isn't right the moment he rides into his kingdom. A full, desolate feeling suffocates his chest and a clawing sensation of loss that he cannot describe.
The bond. He can't feel it.
For these few months, he has always sensed Faelyn's presence like a warm ember in his chest, guiding him to her wherever she might be. Now there is only… nothing. A hollow void where that connection should burn.
A terrible feeling pools in his stomach. Amendiel rushes inside the chamber that his mate is meant to be resting in.
"Faelyn!" He growls out the name, but there is no use. The emptiness of the room greets his gaze.
His mate isn't there. Faelyn is gone!
Amendiel whips around, fury reflecting in his eyes. She disobeyed him! His little mate ran off as soon as he left!
Amendiel feels a dreadful gut clenching sensation. Just how long has Faelyn been planning this escape?
Since the beginning? He has been a fool to let his guard down and trust Faelyn!
