Landing hard on an unyielding surface, Kayden grimaced as his face sank into a pile of cold mud, while the rest of his body struck a jagged stone that sent a sharp crack through him.
He whimpered in pain and agony.
Trying to rub some friction into his aching legs, he massaged them, but the attempt was useless. The pain shooting up from them was so intense it nearly made him cry.
I can't stand…
And he was right — he couldn't. His feet refused to support him. As for where he was… he had no clue. The only thing he remembered was a dark flash — falling into a grave that had opened suddenly beneath him.
There was a faint light in the hole he now found himself in, and by its weak ray he could make out the nightmare surrounding him. Piles of decayed corpses lined the place in a sick, deliberate order.
His throat tightened with horror. If he kept staring, he might pass out.
