POV Elder Maxson
After the Feral Ghoul Horde had been dealt with, we started the clean-up, and I started to inquire what the hell just happened.
"What are the losses?" I ask.
"We are still tallying the losses, but... It's at least 500 and increasing," Kells responds.
That meant we had lost over half the entire expeditionary force.
"How the hell did those freaks get into the Airport! What were the sentries doing!" I demand angrily.
"I have no idea, but we have yet to find those assigned to watch," Kells says.
"And where did the second group come from!?" I ask.
"I sent a team to investigate and... We found the missing supplies and the mostly eaten remains of Initiate Clarke in the sublevels of the Airport. It seems he was feeding the abominations down there when they escaped and ran into our rear defenses," Kells says with some shame.
"Sigh. I... Sigh. We will deal with that later. However, I would like a full report on why we didn't clear the sublevels on my desk as soon as possible. This single error has caused the lives of far too many brave men and women. Have new sentries been posted?" I ask.
"Yes, I doubled the sentries. If another attack happens, we will be ready," Kells responds.
"I want all hands on deck. We need to clear out all the bodies as soon as possible before the local wildlife gets drawn in by the smell, not to mention the diseases that can spawn from such filth," I reply.
"Yes, sir. Might I also suggest that we call in the Vertibird from Cambridge?" Kells asks.
"Hmm, do it. I want both Vertibirds on constant vigilance for any other hostiles. If it moves towards the Airport and isn't with the Brotherhood, then they have clearance to kill," I say firmly.
Kells leaves to give out my orders, and I have a feeling that I shouldn't get out of my Power Armor yet. We sent every last person we have at our disposal to both resecure the Airport and to clean up the mess. I was tempted to recall our troops from Mahkra, but I knew they might still be in the midst of fighting or at least resting, and we still have around 400-500 troops left. We could hold the Airport if it came to another fight.
(AN: Red Flag Raised)
POV Pharnyx
I watch as the Vertibird from Cambridge arrives. We still had to wait just a bit longer before the second and third phases. But that didn't mean we could finish the last part of Phase One. Which meant it was time to cause an accident.
I sat down and started channeling my magic. This spell needed to work the first time, or else it would be nearly impossible to control. Mind Influencing Magic is not easy, but it was easier than Mind Control. I stare at one of the Vertibirds and specifically at the pilot.
POV Pilot
"An Enemy is near you."
"An enemy is near me," I say.
"Huh? What did you say?" says the gunner.
I push the control stick to the left and veer right towards the enemy.
"What the hell are you doing! Look out!" the gunner screams.
"Good soldiers follow orders," I repeat to myself.
BOOOM
POV Pharynx
I watch as the two vertibird crash into each other, and now it was time to wait for the Brotherhood to lower its guard.
3 AM That Same Night...
It was time to go to work. The Brotherhood had sent the last of the reserve troops into the Airport, and were getting close to finishing up the cleanup. It helped that many of the Ferals were turned to ash upon death. Which meant it was time for the next attack. The next phase had us lead the Super Mutants to attack the Airport. We repeat the same strategy as last time and kill the sentries. It didn't work quite as well as the Brotherhood was still on alert, but it meant the Super Mutants got much closer before being spotted. It wasn't really our fault.
"Human time is done! This is the age of the Super Mutant!" screams a Super Mutant, followed by the roars of hundreds more.
"Sorry, Captain, but I can't control them perfectly even with magic," Cornicle says after coming to see me.
"It's fine, it isn't that shocking, their minds are too simple to be completely controlled. Phase three is a go. Send the orders to our Cambridge agent," I order.
"Yesss, Ssssir," Cornicle says with an excited hiss.
The third phase had our agents leading a Raider Coalition to attack the Cambridge Police Station. With an attack happening over there as well as here, they will be in more of a panic. Phase Two, despite not being as perfect, had a decent chance of success, as many of the personnel in the Airport are Scribes and other less combat-capable members. It also meant all the heavy hitters were present.
POV Sentinel Johnson
After cleaning out Mahkra and collecting everything we needed, it was time to head back to the Airport. We tried to contact the Prydwen but were unable to raise them on any channels. I thought they might be under attack, so I rushed us all back, which meant I had to leave behind 4 Scribes and 2 Knights to hold Mahkra while we went back. But I was confident in their abilities.
As we approached the Airport, I saw laser fire, explosions, and gunfire. And even more, we spotted a Behemoth.
"All pilots, drop us off as close as you can, then get airborne and take out that Behemoth. All others follow me to attack those filthy muties from behind!" I order.
"Copy that, I will get you as close as I can," says our pilot.
Luckily, we came from behind, which didn't draw much attention, and the loud noises of the fighting drowned out most of our Vertibird's noise. Of course, that only applied to the normal muties. The Behemoth spotted us and came running. Scimitar, our Vertibird, was the first to reach the landing zone. I jumped out, and everyone else managed to get out safely.
Broadsword was the next down, and they also got their troops down safely. Both Broadsword and Scimitar then safely got airborne again. The last was Spatha. They came in for a landing, but the Behemoth had closed the distance, and despite us shooting at it, it ignored us and smashed its massive club down onto Spatha. Spatha split in half and then exploded, killing the pilot and all the non-Power Armor users on the bird.
I wanted to kill that monster, but I knew we were nothing but liabilities here. I rallied the troops and forced them to retreat towards the Airport. The Behemoth ignored us completely and focused on the Vertibirds shooting at it.
As we reached the Airport, we saw the corpses of Super Mutants and Brotherhood members everywhere. We checked our gear one last time and then attacked the Super Mutants. We knew we likely wouldn't survive, but we would hopefully give a fighting chance to the other Brotherhood members.
"For the Brotherhood!" I screamed as I opened fire with my Gatling Laser.
POV Paladin Davis
When I heard that the Airport was under attack again, I was very tempted to lead my troops to help them, but before I could even consider that, we came under attack as well. It was by pure luck that we were able to react in time to the ambush. Still, we lost 3 men in the Ambush, and with only 36 people assigned to this base, it meant we were that much worse off. We lost 2 more securing the 1st defensive positions.
'I am extremely thankful I invested in creating that second defense position.'
The group we were being attacked by was the Raiders from the local area. I had no idea why they would dare attack us, but that didn't matter. They started the attack nearly an hour ago, and thanks to that, we have a pretty good idea about their numbers. We were fighting a coalition of somewhere around 100-150 Raiders.
We killed quite a few, but the cost was unacceptable. For every 4 Radiers killed, we lose another. It also doesn't help that we only have 3 Power Armor troops, including myself. Knight-Captain Larsen and Knight-Captain Jim were the others.
"Paladin Davis! We are losing ground; we need to fall back to the second line of defense!" Knight-Captain Larsen yells at me.
"If we fall back now, we lose too many people. We have to hold the line," I reply.
"Not if someone stays behind to pin down the enemy," Knight-Captain Larsen says.
"Are you sure? You won't survive," I say with sad eyes.
"I lived a good life. Let me die fighting for my brothers and sisters in arms," Knight-Captain Larsen said with a smile.
"Fine. All troops begin to fall back!" I order.
We start retreating a few dozen feet to the second defensive barricade, and Knight-Captain Larsen revs up his Gatling Laser and starts laying down suppressive fire.
As we make it to the 2nd line, I call for Knight-Captain Larsen to retreat.
"Negative, Negative, my armor has little charge and has taken too much damage. I'm going to scuttle the armor. Ad Victoriam!" Knight-Captain Larsen screams as he runs at the enemy.
However, as he is running towards the enemy, I realize something very bad. His Core wasn't glowing, indicating the scuttling. Before I could say anything, his head jerked back and he fell on his back. Even from this far away, I can see the shattered visor and realize he is dead. Which meant his armor wasn't scuttled, and the enemy would have it even if we failed to force them back. They push up, and we restart the bloody fighting.
We never surrender, but one by one we fall until we are pushed back into the Police Station. I was the last to go down, and I made sure they didn't get my Power Armor. With my last breath, I ran at them and scuttled my Power Armor, taking out as many Raiders as I could.
POV Derek The Raider
"That was the last one. Now everyone starts collecting everything. Billy!" I yell.
"Yes, boss," responds Billy.
"That shot was brilliant. You took out that idiot and got me a new set of Power Armor. For that, you are promoted to my new first. Now, are those contacts of yours still willing to buy all this loot and get us that new armor?" I ask with a greedy smile.
"Yes, boss, I will go find them now. They will give us what they promised. Guns, Combat Armor, Chems, Booze, and Smokes. And the codes for Greentech Genetics," Billy responds with a polite smile.
"Then it seems like our gang will be the next big players in Cambridge. Johnny! Go to Diamond City or wherever else and get us some women," I say with a lustful smile.
"Yes, Boss," Johnny responds.
'Looks like we are top of the food chain again.'
