POV: Cade
The scream that came from my father's throat wasn't human or wolf - it was pure agony.
"Marcus!" I shouted, running toward the wall of fire that had just swallowed him.
The Fire Guardian moved through our forest like a living tornado of flames. Everything it touched turned to ash instantly. Trees exploded. The ground itself caught fire. And my father was trapped right in the middle of it.
"Daddy Cade, we can't stop it!" Hope cried, her small voice barely audible over the roaring flames.
"You called it! Make it listen!"
"It won't hear us!" Hunter added, tears streaming down his face. "It's too angry!"
The Fire Guardian wasn't like the Earth or Ice Guardians. Those had been powerful but controlled. This thing was pure destruction, and it seemed to enjoy burning everything in its path.
"Everyone fall back!" I ordered the remaining pack members.
But half our wolves were already surrounded by fire. I could hear them howling in pain as the flames caught their fur.
