_Chapter Begins_
William's sister — Jane — moved away from the open door and began walking towards William.
William stayed motionless for a little bit, but then a panicked expression enveloped his face.
"Wow, alright, let's just calm down for a second."
Jane did not reply and simply continued to move towards William with an emotionless expression on her face.
William put his hands up and shook them.
"Please reconsider your options before you act!"
Then, Jane was finally right next to his bed.
Without wasting time — she lunged at him.
William flinched.
Was she going to slap him? Or punch him? Or maybe even stab him with the ghostly dagger again?
Just what was she planning to do?
The answer was...
William slowly opened his eyes and looked down with a confused expression.
Jane was... hugging him.
He let out a heavy breath.
"Am I dreaming?"
William stood motionless for some time.
He didn't really know what to do because he had not thought of this scenario happening.
William awkwardly started to move his hand towards Jane's shoulder.
"Hey, are you alrig—"
William was suddenly cut off by his sister.
Jane finally lifted her head up and looked at William — straight in the eye.
She was struggling to keep her eyes from constantly blinking.
And the reason for that constant blinking was rather surprising to William.
Two lines of water glided from Jane's eyes and all the way to her chin.
Was his sister really... crying?
William's expression suddenly turned somber, and he looked at her with some type of unexplainable emotion.
A lot of different emotions were mixing in William's mind, which made him dizzy.
It had been a long, long time since he had seen his sister cry or even show slight vulnerability.
Seeing her like this reminded him of the far-off past.
Things were so much simpler back then.
William looked at Jane and gave a small chuckle.
"I honestly was expecting a stab, not a hug."
Jane wiped some of her tears away and let go of William.
William smiled.
"Also... tears were not what I was expecting either."
Jane shook her head and looked at him with a serious expression.
"I thought you had died, you idiot!"
William chuckled and waved a hand.
"Well, I actually have... more than once even."
Jane wiped away the last of her tears and finally composed herself.
William looked at her with some apprehension.
"Well... since you're here, that means that you also...."
William sighed.
"How did it happen?"
A frown appeared on Jane's face.
But then she let out a long sigh.
"Car accident — pretty boring death if you ask me."
William held his chuckle.
"You really weren't the best with cars, were you?"
Jane looked at him with no humor in her eyes.
William raised a hand.
"Sorry."
She turned away and stared down at the rock floor of the room.
Eventually, with a bit of comprehension, she asked:
"What about you? How did you die?"
William looked at her and shrugged.
"Eh, it wasn't that interesting."
Jane looked at him with a little bit of suspense.
William rubbed his neck.
"I just got hunted down by a cult and then got decapitated by one of its members."
William put his arm down.
"A pretty boring death if you ask me."
Jane stared at him for a while with an emotionless expression.
Then she closed her eyes and put her hand on her forehead.
"We both have a lot of information to share."
She was right, there was indeed a stockpile of information that needed to be shared quickly.
And quickly they did...
