Chapter 3
In a hurry, Yui and Shou arrive at the place where secret matters are discussed.
With a tense and surprised expression on his face, Shou says:
Shou: "The traitor might be Eiko."
Yui: "Whaaat? That quiet, annoying girl?"
Shou: "Yes."
Yui: "How did you figure that out?"
Shou: "She was listening while we were talking."
Yui: "W-What are we going to do if it's really her…?"
Suddenly, a deep voice comes:
Voice: "Shou… hey."
Shou: "Ah, Kai, my friend! How are you…?"
Kai was one of the three survivors from the warehouse.
After that day, he disappeared. When he walked out of that warehouse, he carried a burning hatred inside him, and he followed one of the traitors. That led him to discover the warehouse they ran, and he had been investigating it for years…
Kai: "Aaaand my friends, I've got some information. But I'm not sure."
Shou: "What is it? Tell us!"
Kai: "The principal's son might still be alive. But I can't be certain."
Shou: "This is bad…"
Yui: "This makes things even harder."
And so, the three of them were reunited after many years. But was this truly a good beginning?
The Next Day (Escaping from School)
Kai: "I can't believe you kids skipped school."
Shou: "It's an urgent matter."
Kai: "What is it?"
Shou: "Haru is alive."
Kai: (happy and shocked) "What?! He didn't die?"
Shou: (seriously, sternly) "He could be a traitor."
Kai ignores Shou, because Kai and Haru once had a one-year relationship. But if Haru really was a traitor, how bad could things get?
Kai: (frowning) "Don't talk nonsense, that's impossible."
Yui cuts in:
Yui: "He even changed his name to Tomoko and has been threatening Shou."
Hearing this, Kai feels heartbroken, though deep inside he still can't believe it. To brush off the issue, he says:
Kai: "Fine. Let's just be careful."
But in truth, he begins working on uncovering the truth.
Tomoko—Haru—keeps threatening Shou more and more, especially using Eiko as leverage. But he never explains why. He only tries every kind of threat to find out who Eiko is and where she lives.
When Kai returns to school, he runs into Haru. In that moment, they embrace as if the bond between them still remained, as if deep down they were not over each other.
Eiko and Miyu see them hugging.
Eiko stares, surprised and lost in thought as she watches.
Miyu: "Why are you spacing out? Maybe he's just an old student."
Eiko accidentally mutters: "I don't think so…"
But Miyu doesn't hear.
Miyu: "Huh?"
Eiko: "Ah, nothing."
Miyu: "Anyway, let's go."
As Eiko and Miyu head to class, they see Shou and Yui.
Frightened, Yui clings to Shou's arm.
Eiko, watching from behind, scans her from head to toe.
Then, smiling slyly, she whispers to herself:
Eiko: "Am I too beautiful today?"
Shou and Yui then see Haru and Kai together. Since they were at school, they couldn't make it obvious. Shou suddenly grabbed Kai's arm and pulled him away, while Haru quickly ran back toward the school.
Kai, angry, pushed Shou back.
Kai: "What the hell do you think you're doing? Have you lost your mind?"
Shou: (furious) "Haru could be a traitor!"
Kai: (angrier) "A traitor?! Why would he come into the school disguised as a teacher then?"
Yui jumped in:
Yui: "He's been threatening Shou!"
Kai: "What…?"
Kai felt like his whole world had collapsed again. Why would Haru threaten him? What could he possibly gain from it?
Without saying much, he walked toward a park.
This was the same park where Kai had once confessed his feelings to Haru.
He sat on a bench for a while, until suddenly a voice called out:
Voice: "Kai… Kai…"
It was Haru's voice.
Kai stood up.
Kai: "You haven't forgotten me…" (and hugs Haru)
Haru: "I missed you so much."
Kai: "Me too, but…"
Haru's expression darkened.
Haru: "Is there a problem, Kai?"
Kai, unable to hold it in anymore, shouted:
Kai: "Why are you working with the traitors? Why do you want to know who Eiko is? Why are you threatening Shou?"
Haru: "Enough! I'm not threatening anyone anymore. The reason I came to this school… is Eiko!!"
