He pulled out a knife from his coat.
With a sharp swing, he cut the air in front of himā

He stepped through the rift.

No one knew.

A reinforced bunker door hissed open.
"Where is he?!"
Eon burst out, panting, eyes wide.
> "Your brother is being treated. He's safe for now," said a soldier.

As he walked past, Eon heard two soldiers whispering behind him.
> "He's recklessā¦ Honestly, kid's got guts."
"Shut up. Kael told us not to say anything before he wakes up."
Eon didn't respond.

a voice echoed from a broken alley nearby.
A voice filled with pain.
With something wrong.
> "Hello...? Who's there?"
Eon walked into the alleyā¦
and found a boy.
Noāa beastkin, with sharp ears, strange markings, and trembling eyes.
> "Where is my father?!"
"Iā I don't know. Who's your father?"
> "He was a scientistā¦ from the year 2578... what year is it now?"
> "What?"
"This is 2674."
The boy's eyes widened.
Suddenly, a pressure crushed the air.
A clawed hand grabbed Eon by the throat and lifted him up.
> "No... you're lying... YOU'RE LYING!"
> "Pleaseālet me goā!"
> CRACK.
His neck snapped.
Eon's body fell lifeless to the ground.

But seconds laterā
it twitched.
And glowed.
> "Iā¦ I'm aliveā¦? Butā¦ how?"
No time to think.
> ā SYSTEM ALERT: Threat Detected ā Class: DEMON
A siren blared through the compound.
Soldiers scrambled.
But Eon stood in the alleyā
still gasping.
And the beastkinā¦ was gone.
But not alone.
