As their meal drew to a close, Lucas and Elena lingered a moment longer at their table, basking in the warm afterglow of good food and gentle conversation. They exchanged a look, both quietly content, before standing up and making their way to the counter where Mrs. Donnelly stood polishing a teacup, her eyes twinkling.
"Thank you so much, Mrs. Donnelly," Elena said sincerely, her smile bright and genuine. "This was the best meal I've ever had."
Lucas nodded in agreement, his gratitude clear in his voice. "Thank you for always making this place feel like home."
Mrs. Donnelly beamed at them both. "You're always welcome here. And, Elena, you must come again. I haven't seen Lucas this happy in a long time."
