Selene's POV~
Death felt very close.
I could sense it crawling over my skin, pressing down on my chest until even breathing felt like a distant memory. My eyes refused to open, my body refusing every command my mind tried to give.
Then something changed.
The air changed suddenly, filled with terror instead of hunger. The wolves...those bloodthirsty beasts...suddenly howled in pain. It was not victory cries. They are miserable screams, broken howls that echoed through the space like a nightmare turning against itself.
My heart trembled weakly.
Someone had come.
I didn't know who it was. I didn't know why they were here. But I could feel it clearly...those wolves were no longer the hunters. They were being torn apart. One by one, ruthlessly, without any mercy.
Claws ripped through flesh, and bones cracked. Bodies slammed against stone. The sound was horrifying, yet somewhere deep inside me, a fragile spark of relief flickered to life despite the poison crushing my senses.
