"I'm looking for a spell book…." I glanced down at her name tag and fake smiled. "Miss Rision."
"You think the coven will allow you to borrow a spell book?" Miss Rision spat out. "Go to the bookstore and buy the book. We don't need you destroying our precious resources with your wild magic."
"It's only wild because the coven refuses to teach me how to control my magic." My smile tightened as I forced myself to keep it on. "That's why I have to rely on learning from spell books… Now where can I find spell books on plant growth."
I didn't really need any spell books on plant growth, having many at home, but I knew they were on the opposite side of the library. Far away from the restricted area.
"Tsk…" Miss Rision clicked her tongue. "Don't act like your wild magic is the coven's fault. Your bloodline is the problem. Just look at what happened to your mother. They should've executed you instead of letting a stain like you live. Be grateful the coven let you live."
I felt my right eye twitch in annoyance at her words. She had no reason to bring Mom into this. They were just jealous of her power and got rid of her the moment they had the chance.
And one day I would expose the truth.
But for that to happen, I needed to gain control over my magic. Learn to wield it so well and become powerful enough to avenge my mother's death.
"You have no right to stop me from using coven spell books." I finally muttered. "I still belong to this coven and have every right to use its resources… Or would you like me to report you to the Witches Division and tell them that resources they've paid for are not being shared by all witches within the coven."
The Witches Division was part of the Supernatural Council and was responsible for all witch related issues. They dealt with most issues witches had on behalf of the Council, only handing off serious matters to the Council.
Any witch that had a problem with their coven could report the coven. This was to make sure covens weren't abusing their powers. Not that things were black and white as they seemed…
"You think the Division will believe someone like you?" Miss Rision scoffed. "Let me tell you something as your elder. They may act like they care about every witch, but the money we give them to help them run things will speak more. They won't risk that for someone who's practically useless to them."
I clenched my sticky fists knowing her words were somewhat true. The Division may act like it was fair and just, but many of its members were corrupted, helping their coven buddies stay in power.
What started as a way to distract the librarian on duty was quickly turning into a heated session. Part of me knew this when I approached her, but anger still raged in my blood.
Taking a deep breath to calm myself, I glanced at the clock behind her. Five minutes had passed. Guess it was better for me to just leave and have her think she'd won.
"Guess I'll be going then." I muttered, letting my anger out. "Thanks for not helping."
I turned away before she could say another word and stormed out of the library, feeling like crap. The familiar thing better be worth all this trouble because I wanted to punch something.
Scream in frustration over everything unfair in this world. If only I could control the power burning within my blood. Then I could make them regret everything.
"You're late." A voice muttered as I got to my motorbike.
I gazed at Eris sitting on the bike, her arms crossed. Sighing, I said, "Give me a break… The librarian just went on about how I shouldn't exist and shit."
"I see… Do you want me to hex her?" Eris murmured, pulling out a napkin. "For your hands."
"No, it's fine. I'm used to it now…" I replied, taking the napkin and cleaning my hands. "Thanks."
She nodded her head as I tossed the napkin in a nearby dustbin. Once I was done, I got on my bike, putting my helmet as Eris wrapped an arm around my waist. Once properly seated, we were off to my home.

I pulled to a stop in front of a small, wooden cottage on the edge of the Wilser Forest. It had a short wooden fence around it and looked like something out of a fairy tale with the circle windows and hanging plants.
"Home sweet home." I murmured, pulling off my helmet.
The cottage used to be a place where Mom would study plants from the forest and interact with the Fae. Her escape from the coven. And now the place where I lived for the past four years.
Eris hopped off the bike and I dragged it over to the side of the cottage. I then quickly threw a concealment cloak over my bike to hide it before wondering over to where Eris was standing by the front door.
She gazed at me, waiting for permission to enter. Most people thought it was vampires that couldn't enter places without permission, but it was actually Fae who needed permission.
"You can head inside the house." I said, unlocking it. "Only for the next few hours though."
The door flew open just as I finished pulling out the key, Eris rushing past me to the leather couch. I sighed at her antics, closing the door behind me as she turned on the TV.
The cottage was much bigger on the inside with a connected kitchen and living room. A short hallway led to three more rooms - two bedrooms each with a bathroom and Mom's office.
Finally there was a basement which could be accessed via the kitchen through a hidden floor door. It was where I held all my magical equipment and was meant to make my potions.
If they weren't exploding messes.
"Goddess, I've been dying to watch some TV." Eris exclaimed, suddenly tossing a book at me she pulled from thin air. "I get to use the TV for six hours for that book."
"You can't die unless someone stabs you in the heart with iron." I muttered, almost crashing to the wooden floor as I grabbed the leather bound book she carelessly tossed at me. "And it's only six hours if you help me with the ingredients."
Should've known she was only willing to help and take the possible fall for everything because she wanted to use my TV. She was a damn addict to that thing.
Still, at least I got the book without too much trouble. Now all I needed was ingredients to conjure the familiar and hopefully get my magic under control.
Then I'd make them pay for everything…
"Fine, but let me watch this in peace first." Eris waved her hand, loss to the land of whatever show she was watching. "I need to catch up on the latest season."
I shook my head at her. "Goddess, you're hopeless…"
