Chapter 32 - Never Again!

Feng An Yu sat still once the bike came to a halt.

He still had an arm hugging his briefcase tightly while another rested around Ning Wei's waist.

In the beginning, Feng An Yu was clutching on to Ning Wei's jacket. But then, his sweaty palm and the materials made it harder for him to grip her coat tightly.

Having no choice, Feng An Yu could only circle one arm around Ning Wei's waist. Once he found a spot he could hold on to, Feng An Yu began to calm down.

It was the first time he hopped on a motorbike, and Ning Wei was riding so fast.

A couple of minutes on the bike made Feng An Yu question the meaning of life.

He thought he was going to die, especially when Ning Wei slipped past two large lorries.

Feng An Yu closed his eyes tightly while muttering a few cursing words.

A few scenarios played in his head. Feng An Yu was almost convinced that Ning Wei was sent by one of his cousins to kill him. With him dead, he could no longer pose a threat to his cousins. A candidate to succeed Phoenix Pharmaceutical will be eliminated, and the remaining candidates will compete for that position.

"Are you alright?"

Ning Wei's voice snapped Feng An Yu out of his trance.

His grip around Ning Wei's waist was forced to let go.

Feng An Yu watched as Ning Wei hopped off the bike before turning to look at him.

"Here we are," Ning Wei continued when Feng An Yu did not reply. "I hope you are not too late." Her brow furrowed when Feng An Yu did not say anything. "Hey? Mr. Feng?" She lifted her visor to look at the man in front of her.

Ning Wei was starting to worry that she might have scared the Young Master.

Truthfully, she did not think that she rode her bike that fast. She was a law-abiding citizen. She always rode her bike within the speed limit.

Besides… with her identity as a celebrity, Ning Wei realized that she should be careful in everything she does.

"You are not scared, are you?"

Ning Wei's question snapped Feng An Yu into his senses. He raised his head to meet Ning Wei's eyes. Unfortunately for him, Ning Wei was unable to see the warning look in his eyes due to the visor he wore.

"I'm not." Feng An Yu held his briefcase and tried to hop off the bike. Then, he realized that his legs were trembling. Feng An Yu kept his eyes on Ning Wei while controlling his expression. He did not want Ning Wei to know that he was frightened.

Feng An Yu finally heaved in relief once he had both his feet on the ground.

He made a silent promise to himself that he would never ride a motorbike again.

Never again!

Of course, he would never guess that this was only the first of many times in the future.

"I'm sorry." Ning Wei flashed an apologetic smile.

Although Feng An Yu told her that he was not frightened, the tension in his voice was telling her another story.

"I forgot that this is your first time," Ning Wei said. "I just thought that you were in a hurry to get here."

"It's alright." Feng An Yu cleared his throat. His heart was no longer beating fast with his feet on the ground. "That… Thank you for today. I'll repay you later. If you need any help, you can find me. You still have my card, right?"

"Mr. Feng, are you always this calculative?" There was a trace of helplessness in her tone.

Feng An Yu narrowed his eyes.

"Are you saying that you are going to repay me each time I lend a hand?" Ning Wei asked. She crossed both arms on her chest and chuckled.

The more she looked at Feng An Yu, the more she thought that this man was an interesting person.

Anyway, the Young Masters she happened to run into were mostly frivolous. Feng An Yu was probably the most rigid one she met.

"You don't have to repay me," Ning Wei continued. "It's too tiring to be calculating all the time. Like I said earlier… It was fate that I happened to run into you again."

Feng An Yu stared at Ning Wei, silently judging her expression.

Something that Ning Wei said earlier flashed into his mind.

Ning Wei considered him a friend. But was this young man genuine?

It was still hard for him to accept that someone wanted to get close to him without a reason.

Other than the boys, Feng An Yu did not trust anyone else. He was not like Su Ming Yuan, who could befriend anyone he met.

"Alright then." Feng An Yu nodded. "But don't regret this."

Ning Wei was stunned to hear Feng An Yu's words. A few seconds later, she burst into laughter. "Don't worry. I won't regret this."

The first time he helped Feng An Yu, Ning Wei was not that willing.

If he did not hold on to her that tightly, she might leave him to Ning Yue.

But then, Feng An Yu introduced her to that workshop, and Ning Wei was forever grateful for that.

Her baby was running again.

How can she not be happy?

Feng An Yu stared at Ning Wei for a few beats, wondering why the young man liked to laugh a lot. He then retracted his gaze as he recalled that he was supposed to be at a meeting. Clutching his briefcase, Feng An Yu turned around.

"Mr. Feng."

Feng An Yu stopped on his track and turned. He was unable to see Ning Wei's expression, but he had a feeling that the young man was smiling at him.

"Aren't you going to return my helmet?" Ning Wei pointed at the helmet on Feng An Yu's head.

It was then that Feng An Yu realized that he was still wearing a helmet.

"I'm sorry." Feng An Yu tried to pull off the helmet, but his movement was restricted by the belt under his chin. He unclasped the belt before taking it off and returning it to Ning Wei.

"Mhm…" Ning Wei nodded. She stood at the side while watching Feng An Yu walking towards the building.

Ning Wei found that Feng An Yu's rigidness was too amusing.
