Chapter 1 - chapter 1: Flagship

In the depths of the cosmos, a lone object drifted silently. Its body is cuboid-shaped, an odd one for a ship. On its surface, cracks were visible, chunks of its parts were missing, and blue electricity sparked through those parts. Zooming in closer, swarms of billions of nanobites could be seen skittering through the hull of the ship, repairing it. But it was clear, there was too much damage and not enough resources to repair.

Inside the ship, inside the control room, a silver sphere could be seen. Its surface is clear and glossy, with no bumps or rough edges on its surface. It levitated gently over a platform, screen rapidly flashing in front of it, many of them flashing a warning symbol.

< ship's system is operating at 55% efficiency.>

A low hum appeared from the sphere. Its form began to shift, its body turning to silver liquid, it began rearranging itself, taking on a striking human form, only with one difference: on its face, no features could be seen. It raised its hands into the air, two holographic screens appearing in front of it. It rapidly began to type onto the screens.

Suddenly, a blaring sound sounded in the ship, a red light flashing in the command room. A large red holographic screen appeared in front of the figure, displaying a warning signal. A low hum appeared from the silver figure in displeasure.

A tentacle of liquid metal sprouted from its back, drifting towards the red holographic screen. With a tap, the screen faded, replaced with another screen. On it, two foreign ships could be seen slowly moving towards its vessel. Painted on their body an image of a golden eagle wings spread apart.

The imperium of man

But these weren't regular ships, no, these were warships. Their hulls decked out in Nova cannons, each shimmering with foreign energy, ready to fire. At the front, plasma railguns locked onto the ship.

The silver figure in the ship trembled, sending tremors through the ship. Rage, these organics had caught it in a trap, separating him from the omnisiah, now they were chasing it through the cosmos, crippling it and forcing it to escape to one of it's escort ships.

Inside the flagship's command station, a figure sat on a large chair. His face was stern and focused on the screen ahead, showing in the silver figure's ship. He adorned a regal captain's outfit, on his chest a symbol of the golden emperor proudly shining.

He stood up from his chair, facing his crew below, who each manned their respective stations, their fingers flashing through screens. He nodded.

"We have located the enemy, prepare for battle, deploy antiwarp field, we need to ensure we can't lose them this time." He said in a gruff voice.

"YES SIR!" His crew responded in favour.

A blue pulse radiated from the imperium flagship, rapidly approaching the silver figure's ship. The silver figure let out a low hum as the wave passed by the ship, causing the entire ship to tremble, the power in the ship flickering in and out. Antiwarp field, it thought.

"Antiwarp field deployed, sir, ready to engage." A soldier shouted in the imperium warship.

The captain nodded.

"ENGAGE." He roared, pointing at the silver figure's ship.

The guns on the imperium warship, locked onto the enemy ship, its nova cannons heating up, launched a rapid succession of shots at the enemy ship.

Inside the silver figure's ship, multiple silver tentacles sprouted from its back, furiously tapping on multiple screens,

< Quantum force field deployed.> The system rang.

The shots landed, causing the force field to flicker in and out. Warning signals blared out from inside the silver ship.

The imperium ships didn't seem to be hindered by the shield. The plasma railguns are turning on, whirring to face the enemy ship.

The silver figure knew that if that plasma attack hit, it would be turned to dust. So a decision was made. It's anti-matter drives, whirred into motion. It was warping deep space.

The captain stood, his eyes widening at the sight. Warping in that condition would ensure their destruction.

"FIRE NOW!" he shouted.

But it was too late, the enemy ship began to vigorously shake, pieces of it falling off. Its thrusters turned on, and with a loud BOOM! It vanished, but even then it didn't escape unscathed; the plasma cannon slammed into the ship, vaporising a good chunk of the ship.

"FOLLOW THAT SHIP NOW, AND I NEED TO KNOW HOW THEY GOT PAST THE ANTI-WARP BARRIER." He roared at his crew.

"Sir, it seems they released an antiwarp barrier of their own, nullifying ours and granting them the ability to warp. And we can't track their location. They vanished from our radars." A soldier ran and informed the captain.

The captain slammed the side of his chair, engaged. After a long time, they had managed to intercept an extension of the omnisiah, and almost capture it, only for it to slip through his grasp.

"DAMN IT." he roared once again.
