Chapter 19 - Rhythmic Silence

Another workweek ended with all the employees taking the day off. Trying to relax after a tiring and dreary day of uncertainty, Ivan tried to suppress the questions that had formed in his mind. He couldn't help but think about the fact that he didn't remember three days of this workweek. And he couldn't remember the person who had been his partner during the previous week's mission. He couldn't grasp what was happening, but sometimes he managed to loop his thoughts by saying, "I think it might be like the events I thought I experienced before. Like I never reached the question marks..." Despite harboring so many question marks in his mind, the information he could never access was quite disorienting. The question marks he couldn't access only further exacerbated his depressive side. But as he always did with question marks, Ivan chose silence, choosing not to think again. Meanwhile, elsewhere, Luth and Orion were discussing something at the assassins' headquarters, their anger clearly evident.

"How could this bastard have such a strong will? You knew him pretty well, didn't you, Luth?"

"Control your nerves. I worked with him a long time ago. But I don't know as much as you say. Besides, I'm trying really hard not to break your jaw, Orion... or should I say Huldra?"

"What the hell are you gonna do? Controlling my anger is the hardest thing I do, you know. That's why I'm saying, should I destroy you, huh?!"

"You're overstepping your bounds, Huldra. You know you can't defeat me. My ears are already tainted by your worthless words..."

"After these words, I will tear you to pieces, Luth! Prepare to be destroyed, you fool!"

Brady and Clarissa, suddenly appearing, were able to arrive at the last minute to stop Luth and Huldra, who were preparing to destroy each other and everything else. The pair, who normally never argued and got along quite well, lost their tempers over a crucial issue. However, it was clear who had the upper hand: Luth Teuga, a man with a strange personality who could destroy the Oath Bone Compound in seconds without even unsheathing his sword. Unlike those who never attempt to interfere due to their extraordinary power, some people are known to have no such fear. One of these individuals, formerly known as Orion, is Huldra, whose closeness stems entirely from Luth's compassion, but she sometimes loses control. However, on rare occasions, Huldra's silent steps towards death are stopped by Brady, Clarissa, and the others. Due to the profound trauma Huldra endured when he lost her "friends," he loses complete control of her mind. And Luth, being associated with someone they label "The Scum" sometimes triggers his trauma. Despite this, he never reaches out to kill someone he's close to most of the time.

"What the hell do you think you're doing? Were you planning on destroying the headquarters and everything, especially you, Luth?!"

"This kid is way out of line, Clarissa. I was just going to give him a little push so he'd disappear from my sight. But you stopped... That really upset me. And you didn't ignore me. You finally deserve my appreciation... Also, I have a question: Where is Quinn now?"

"Okay, I get what you're saying, Luth. I apologize on his behalf, okay?" she said, sweating along with his worried look

"Okay, I'll accept it just for you. I never intended to kill you anyway. Also, please answer my question."

"Thank you, Luth... Quinn is currently busy with a task I assigned. I'll send it to you as soon as I confirm she's finished."

"I understand, as long as she doesn't cause trouble for Quinn, she will remain under your command until I take her from you."

Luth and Clarissa were engaged in a complex conversation when Brady took Huldra to a central room to calm her down. Within seconds, Huldra, her trauma triggered, broke out in a cold sweat. Emotions of sadness and anger danced across her face. Only four minutes had passed since Brady and Clarissa arrived. At the end of the fifth minute, Huldra fainted. Brady then administered first aid. Brady then used an "incomprehensible" power. This power allowed Huldra to regain consciousness after a few minutes of unconsciousness. Luth and Clarissa were still talking on the other side. While they were talking, the door to the room suddenly opened. Luth and Clarissa stared at the person who had entered for a few seconds before speaking together.

"Do you regret interrupting our conversation, even for a few seconds? Is there a problem? Why did you come?"

"I don't mind interrupting your valuable conversation. We're in real trouble right now. We need to get that scum back, and fast."

"What is he talking about, Luth?... Or is it what I think it is?!

"I think he's talking about what you think... Explain the whole "The Scum" thing from beginning to end... I understand... We should do it again as soon as possible."

"I think Brady didn't quite get it right this time. The situation is serious; we need to do it again immediately."

"Please let it be done properly this time. I've already had to deal with him... I can't even stand him talking."

"Your mission was simply to lure him into a trap. And you did it successfully. We can't even stand him and them. But this will satisfy us, won't it, Luth?"

"Even a small failure on your part would give him the advantage. Never expect such words from me, Clarissa. We all know exactly what to do. We will destroy those we cannot tolerate. So we will do what we always do: you, Brady, call the incompetent."

A small setback on Brady's part would give him the upper hand... Knowing that the person who had caused their unease was extremely dangerous, they had to discuss it in detail and act accordingly. This mission, which they had risked their lives for, would soon be over. However, the outcome of the struggle could never be determined. Until that day, they simply had to move like a rhythm. Sometimes loud, sometimes quiet. Until that day, when some important secrets would be revealed, those unaffected by the rhythm would keep their secrets of joy...
